NO!!! No tax money, no fees, no fines, nothing. These people who want to tax a plant are criminals and they have been putting us into slavery forever. No more money for them, they'll just use it to enslave us all the more! Grow your own and plant millions of plants everywhere. Burn down their distilleries, see how they like it!
@M0EJ0EKING alcohol and tobacco are legal in canada and da US maybe it ain't from where u live. If they legalize all illicit drugs 2day in every country in the world da crime rate will drop 99% and health care cost will go up
Cannabis should not be legalized and taxed. Instead, it should be decriminalised. The government is losing 7.7billion dollars trying to maintain criminalisation and put innocent people in jail. With decriminalisation, that 7.7billion is no longer lost, which I think is enough of a gain. Taxation of cannabis is bad!
Only in this backwards world we live in would people legalize somethings as dangerous as alcohol and cigarettes which kill people all the time, but keep something as safe as marijuana illegal
@lolzbrucedawg I don't think that will happen dude. The tobacco, alcohol, synthethitics, cotton, pharmaceuticals, and timber companies would still see it as a threat to their profit and bribe the next generation politics to keep it illegal. Man's greed is much bigger than the compassion of his heart. Fuckin' sellouts.
But it would be awesome if they did turn out to fight for the people and not for themselves.
@RedDude420 i guess your right, but the legalization is on its way cause on november 2nd, california's citizens get to vote on weather or not the government removes proposition 19, allowing users to posess up to an ounce for personal use. right now 60% of california citizens are in favor of this law, so if it becomes legal in cali then other states would legalize it to because they wouldnt want weed from cali to be brought over untaxed, when they could tax it. and they will. so in would be legal
@lolzbrucedawg true true. if america can change it's stance on weed then the rest of the world will be influenced to change it's stance aswell, then we wouldn't have all these pathetic wars and shit, we would all be too stoned haha,
Read up on the prohibition of all intoxicants, that organized criminal law they profit so much with. Somehow intoxicating liquors are legal by constitutional amendment, enumerated into the law, so look closer at the ninth, "The enumeration in the constitution of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage OTHERS retained by the people ". Imagine the doctor out of the perscription scam loop, growing your plants for intoxicant or industry, etc etc.
I think that the Canadian government should hang their heads in shame if California legalise before they do! As for the taxing i think that its should be put at something like 15-20% so that a profit can still be generated but the actual retail price doesn't have to suffer.
Good work to the 3 of you great stuff... i only wish people would start doing more in Australia to legalize or at least a better integration of the cannabis culture down here. although the Nimbin MardiGrass has been good and seemed hopeful to me, today there is increasing police presence there and the town itself has a bit of trouble with increasing hard drug problems such as smack. in any case in Melbourne were im from its un herd of to have a shop were you can freely smoke up with Ur C.C
@terrorizer805 who said you would have to by from the goverment you could grow it your self or your dealer could still sell it to you tax free or you could go to the native reserves and get it tax free there
Legalization would reduce the retail value of pot by at least 85% over 5 years. Its primary mark up is a result of the limited supply due to states suppression.
@terrorizer805, what whocares2502 is correct, also you would be free to grow your own as well. Since the knowledge is all over youtube and the internet, and it only costs the price of an oz today tto get started. I hope in 2012 we'll have a more refined version of 2009's prop 19, and I agree that it had some holes in it although I am no expert.
i think you have a great estimate on the costs to society cuz people ARE paying 2200 a pound and smoking shwag today and if we Legalize and tax hash, and bud all we are doing is taking the profit from the blackmarket and stoping police from waisting usless dollors on prohibition. i agree with u 100% marijuana man!

when him and dave chappelle are smoking weed together and he is talking about the sixtys and that weed used to cost a dime..and thay never wore condoms... lol
LEGALIZE IT!! If marijuana was as harmful as the government portraits it, just imagine how chaotic we'd all be right now. Approximately 80% of Americans want it legalized for at least medicinal purposes. So what's the freakin hold up?
In a legal environment, marijuana should be cheap and easy to produce as tobacco. Maybe even more. Therefore taxing it shouldn't be a problem. For example, a pack of 25 tobacco cigarettes is just $10. Yet tobacco is still considered highly taxed. So marijuana should be around the same price, even when it's jacked up with taxes. I do agree $50 an ounce tax is ridiculous. That's like taxing it 500-1000% tax because an ounce before taxes could be as low as $5-$10.
Things like alcohol take a rather sophisticated process to make, generally detering large scale home brewers. If marijuana were legalized, would home grown bud be taxed? Should we begin taxing personal vegetable gardens? I think not. I don't see any sign of home grown bud disappearing, so whats the incentive to buy the more expensive taxed bud from the stores?
I really hate that Marc got arrested and hope Canada won't give him to the USA. If he gets stuck in Atlanta, I'll bring him cookies. I really hope it doesn't come to that and am doing my part to get pot legalized/deregulated by contributions, marches, emails, twitter, and anything else I can do.
