The past is dead completely unimportant, the future is completely fiction, the only thing you will ever have is now there is not a moment that is not now, the future does not exist its mind made up
@Nabolzi You are 22 years old and come from a completely useless generation that has contributed nothing culturally or morally. You are but a speck of dust compared to the generations that existed before you graced this earth with your incoherent ramblings. You are a product of history and unfortunately will be the future.
@Nabolzi You are 22 and come from a completely useless generation that has contributed nothing culturally or morally. You are but a speck of dust compared to the generations that existed before you graced this earth with your incoherent ramblings. You are a product of history and unfortunately will be the future.
@westeh The past is important in the fact it has shaped where we are, as well as who we are. But you cannot change the past, so it's not significant -- it is but a memory that can be remembered or forgotten, nothing more. The future also cannot be changed -- it never happens. It's a point of time we never reach, because we only live in the present. We cannot learn from the future -- we can shape it, but only in events that take place in the present.
@TheSe7enthSin Everything in the past is not Significant ???? are you kidding ? .. what about Hitler ? what about 9 million dead Jews? ..... These events shape us and define who we are and dictate our decisions for the future therefore define our future. You are 19 and I think you need to realise that your hormones dictate who you are and you are not making any sense. In 7 years you will look back and think I was an idiot jee wiz the my past behaviour sure did define me in the now future
@helbyr1 You obviously misinterpreted the entire comment, and simply summarized through it without taking any of it into context. The FIRST sentence said it shaped where and who we are, so trying to point that out was only reciting the exact same thing I said. Your entire comment, in all honesty, proves my point. The past is only a memory again, that you can remember or forget. Either choice is a PRESENT choice, that determines who you are. The past is only a "guide".
@helbyr1 And, lol? If you're trying to say that at 19 (20 in less than a week) is "young and naive", you're trying to make an implication of that age implies experience or wisdom. There are 10 year old children who make 40 year old adults look absolutely stupid. There are kids at only 14 years of age, who have experienced more in their lives than their parents have. Age is only a number that may be a /factor/ into these things, but is only one of many. Don't even bother trying to argue on that.
@TheSe7enthSin Everything you say is from your perspective and has no depth. You are still very young in the mind and it shows, Please don't waste your breath anymore because I have lost interest.
@westeh If you've lost interest, why did you bother typing up a three sentence response?
It seems someone is incapable of managing an intellectual debate without realizing the obvious futility of things. Everything anyone says is from their perspective -- even what you say. Even what Einstein said. Even what Nietzsche, Plato and Aristotle, Confucius, Jean Bodin, René Descartes, Galileo, and millions of other men were "lacking depth" for your reasoning.
@TheSe7enthSin... Fact is Fact and that is what I have presented to you is nothing but . and you have clearly gone off on a rant from your personal opinions and beliefs. Most of the men you have stated actually had scientific proof to back up what they said. Now to quote the others is debatable as most people either believe or they don't so that is again is what I said a personal opinion and therefore not worth a pinch of salt
@westeh You've not presented 'fact'. You presented opinion. You told a man that he comes from a useless generation that has contributed nothing. The man in question is 22 years old. You are comparing him to the likes of generations before him who did not contribute at that age either. The generation you're talking of is young, and untrained. The generation is still growing, still learning.
I don't believe that he meant the past is absolutely unimportant. Just that the present is more important.
@westeh That having been said, it's also a matter of context. The past is full of events that we're supposed to learn from, to either avoid repeating the same mistakes or to follow in their footsteps and achieve the same success. History is a guide, a lesson. You can choose to ignore it, however, forget the past, and focus more on the present because the thing about history is that the choices they made may have worked then, but may not work now. So that's how I mean what I said. Make sense?
@lleho fever ray is "Karin Dreijer Andersson" she sings some songs on the royksopp albums. also she sings with "the knife" & "honey is cool" and she has an amazing voice :)
Saw her live last year. Had smoked some weed, no heavier psychedelics though. Was pretty awesome, only table lamps on screen, but lots of them, and a laser show just above the heads of the audience. :)
I own my gray and white hair cause I earned everyone of them for every time I went through hell and came back with another saved soul. I am not lying about it anymore. I know I am from the Tribe of the Trail of Tears. It is in my blood and soul and it beats in my heart. When it rains it is because I am to tough to cry from my eyes. I cry quietly in my heart. And the angels cry for me and God sends down the rain to cleanse the air and the land for us. He knows we are tired of the destruction.
I have to admit, I first heard Fever Ray in the trailer for 'Red Riding Hood,' but I loved the song used (which is still unreleased, sadly) so much that I had to look up more of her music. And I love it. I've never heard anything like it before.
@nicco91 GP's actually talking about a book by Cornelia Funke called 'The Thief Lord,' where the character of the "Thief Lord" runs around wearing an old doctor's mask to disguise his identity. In the movie of the book, Rollo Weeks had an identical mask to the one shown here (and it was the sexiest thing since Gerard Butler as the Phantom of the Opera, but that is a completely different story). :)
@nicco91 They were worn by the plague doctor were filled with things such as myrrh, mint, sage, etc & sometimes even rags to cover the smell of the victim & purify the air the doctor breathed. He not only dealt with the living but the dead as well being called in to record the death of a plague victim or suspected victim.
I just recently found Fever Ray and I am in love with it. All the songs are creative and listening to one is like taking a sharp breath of freezing air.
The first FR song I hear was "When I Grow Up" It's not usually my thing (I usually like more high-energy stuff) but I'm completely addicted. It's like breathing on a cold day...part of you still longs for warmth, but the biting cold is unsuspectingly invigorating.
I hate the comparison some make to Björk. They really don't sound anything alike at all. They are both great, but very different. The only thing they have in common is strong, unique voices.
One of the best songs I've heard in a long time. The Album is incredible too. I don't know if it's my favourite of the 00-09 decade, but it's without any doubt the best I've heard in 2009. I hope Fever Ray will be able to release another album as great as this one. Genius.
A fellow youtuber referred me to this artist and I'm really digging it. I was looking for something similar to Bjiork and though not the same it's pretty damn unique. Me likes a lot!
vocally it sounds like bjork....unless its just her accent which is similar, isnt there are sweden/iceland connection in terms of language? or is it denmark and iceland? i dunno.....
@snowball1988 Am danish, dunno how similar icelandic and danish is, but it's somewhat similar, some words are practically identical, but it's not nearly as much as the correlation between the three main nordic countries. I could imagine icelandic as a mix between finish and norwegian or some such.
Well, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Icelandic, German, English, and some others I'm forgetting are all Germanic Languages, and are grouped in the larger Indo-European family, which doesn't include Finnish, which is a Uralic language, I think (not sure). While I'm sure some borrowing has taken place, Icelandic wouldn't be similar at all to Finnish. Swedish, Norwegian, and Icelandic all come from Old Norse, so it'd be more similar to those languages, but not as much to Danish.
@Contraceptive Danish stems from Old Norse as well. Standard Danish mainly sounds out of place because the singing pronunciation, found in Swedish and Norwegian, has been somewhat purged. Standard Danish, though, is mainly only spoken on the island Zealand, and you can find Danish dialects across the country that resemble Swedish, Norwegian or even German.
Fever Ray (aka Karin Dreijer Andersson) is the singer of the band "The Knife" and sings in some Röyksopp songs (What else is there, This must be it. ) But she does not belong to Röyksopp.
I wish they would have booked more dates for North America, it would have been nice to see. Probably the only opportunity to see this material performed, since I guess the Knife will reform for 2010.

Has this band something to do with Royksopp? beacuse the voice of the singer and the style sounds very similar
Doominatorhimself 2 years ago 2
Fever Ray (aka Karin Dreijer Andersson) is the singer of the band "The Knife" and sings in some Röyksopp songs (What else is there, This must be it. ) But she does not belong to Röyksopp.

@canti4xfire she also features in Eminems new song 'almost famous' which makes him bearable hahaha :)
She sang on the vantage point soundtrack too, a great song called 'Deus'
im so unashamedly obsessed with the knife and all the offshoots that have since came..

Karin Dreijer and her brother are both genuis. I'm proud over Fever Ray - and this song is amazing in every way.
If I Had A Heart and other tracks from the album are also on the same level.
And her voice in this specific song is beautiful!

Really like the CD and this song is great.
I wish they would have booked more dates for North America, it would have been nice to see. Probably the only opportunity to see this material performed, since I guess the Knife will reform for 2010.

her solo stuff is alright, but it has nowhere near the dynamism and energy of the Knife stuff.
(Of course, Karin Dreijer's alright is miles better than most other people's!)
