Abortion is NOT!!!!!!!!!! a conservative issue. it is a religious issue that has been made "conservative" by the Falwellian assholes who've hijacked constitutional conservatism. christian coalition can kiss my conservative ass.
@NYC2SFJoe I think you are completely wrong. I'm assuming that you are for abortion. Presumably for the reason that anti-abortion laws are restrictive to the mother's rights to her property that is her body. That simply isn't the case. When a woman makes the decision to have sex. No court would ever tell a man that he wouldn't have to pay child support because every father makes a conscious decision to have sex. Only raped women are not afforded that decision.
Of course he was against the "religious right" (semantic-weapon). Goldwater was a 33 degree mason in a Scotish Rite mason front. He was one of the many rats sent to destroy the rise of the "Old Right".
reagan got elected because of the christians in the us if goldwater got christian vote in 64 he might have won but he oppossed them in politics for some reason i dont think he should have done that me personaly still would have voted for him weather with christian votes or not i dont think there would have been vietnam war if goldwater elected in 64
@jasmcc1 He couldn't done nothing else than opose christian right, because its political stances were unconstitutional and Goldwater was a strict constitutionalist. Unfortunately, he lost, because he stuck to his principles-he also lost the black vote, because of his opposition to Civil Rights Act of 1964 as unnecesary and unconstitutional act, which it was.
Liberal revisionism by Goldwater's ultra liberal granddaughter. These liberals have no shame. I cannot wait until the documentaries coming out about how Jim Demint, George W. Bush, Michele Bachmann, Bill Frist were all closet liberals. This movie distorts Goldwater's legacy, particularly on many issues & his strong states' rights issues. All these movies about conservatives by liberals in hollywood can be summed up in one sentence: the only good conservative is a dead conservative.
@BlackRepublican2010 Goldwater said these things himself in Conscious of a Conservative. By today's Tea Party standards he would be a liberal. He most certainly would not get the party's nomination.
Barry Goldwater would endorse Ron Paul 2012

And here is were your side falls off the rails. You think a woman's body is property. Think about this for a few minutes.

Love him or hate him, he appeared to stick to his principles. It is rare to see a non opportunist politician.
