  • The high pitch sounds that might remind you of a 56K modem are called SSTV signals. You can find software to decode it on the internet. This one is a good one: RX-SSTV, google it up and download the one on the belgacom site.

    Good luck decoding!

  • those other high pitch sounds are NOT morse code.... they are SSTV (an image coded in a sound)

  • what was the mod of the picture at the background??

  • @fsxaircanada01 Its from half life 2 episode 2 Its the Borealis.

  • full translation: Interior transmission active External data line active Message digest active 9e107d9d372bb6826bd81d3542a419d6 (Decodes to: 'The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.') System data dump active User back up active Password back up active BEEP BEEEEP BEEP BEEP BEEEEP BEEEEP BEEEEP BEEP BEEEEP BEEP BEEP (Translates to: "LOL") if you decode the sstv sounds, you get pics with numbers in them, making a bbs number (like dialup telnet) and the username and password is 'backup'.
  • Sry , but I just HAD to ask this and this seemed like the best vid to do it.

I was playing through Portal again recently and I hav noticed ( to put it lightly) That now there are radios with red dots (they normally dont hav that) ALL OVER THE ENRICHMENT CENTER! Like on 1 lvl I shot a blu portal at a cam and a radio fell down with it! In the "Broken" test chamber , in the space where u need 2 shoot a portal to get through there is now a radio inside it ! WTF!?

  • @MorganCupkakke yeah that was in the update. its part of an achievement and the game has a different ending too

  • @lawarsi what achievement?

  • @haloKINGSstudios transmission received

  • @MorganCupkakke Hold one and stand on the button in test chamber 1, listen, then proceed to throw the radio in the emancipation grid.

    Have fun.

  • MSSTV

  • someone is playing a video game :P

  • can anyone explain what this has to do with anything? is it like, relevant to the half life universe or anything?

  • @TheMattSwallow

it's the message included in the update of Valve game Portal, which is pretty relevant to half-life universe, as it happens in the Aperture Science Facilities. Aperture Science is a competitor of Black Mesa, their crashed ship shown on the picture, Borealis, contains some dangerous scientific "stuff", as we know from HL2.

  • @sEweron yeah. But no one knows if it will carry over onto HL3 (or half life2 ep3) yet right?

  • @TheMattSwallow

Actually, if you remember how HL2 EP2 ended, it's pretty obvious, that Gordon and Alyx will now search for Borealis to solve it's mystery and save the world, especially that Eli told them to destroy what they will find there, as whatever it is it has the capacity to cause the disaster of the same scale as that in Black Mesa.

Morse message would probably be the sign, that some systems on the Borealis are awakening, and EP3 is upon us : )

  • @sEweron The Borealis didn't crash. Aperture abandoned it in the race to beat BM for portal tech

  • @MrGeorgethealien

Well, to be precise, it actually went missing together with the part of the dry dock. Teleported somewhere randomly.

  • @sEweron I'm not sure about the teleporting part, But i suppose there is so little information on the Borealis, theories should be welcome.

  • @TheMattSwallow In the new retcon of Portal, numerous radios are hidden all over the place. When you find them and take them to specific places, morse code comes though. This is the morse code.

  • Makes you wonder if the Borealis is going to contain dead forms of known naval scientists...

  • File Path, Pl0x

  • wtf is the borealis? am i missing sumhting here????

  • @TeamGarryProductions The Borealis was the ship where this huge portal device is located. You c it in Half Life 2 quite a few times (the device, not the ship). The ship went missing when it was activated and the portal brought the aliens to our universe. Which is wat HL series is about. If you play all the half lifes it makes a ton of sense and has a great story to it. If u didn't, then don't bother playing these games. PORTAL AND HALF LIFE ARE CONNECTED!!!

  • @RedBaronHill1 wtf YOU ARE A FUCKING LIAR THERE'S NOTHING TO DO WITH A PORTAL DEVICE IN THE BOREALIS!

  • 0:48 WTF? O.O

  • @xato909 lol, it sounds like Dream Weaver xD

  • i didnt notice the aperture science container on the ship of the borealis ship from half life 2 ep 2, maybe the morse code is a distress signal

  • @dasawesome121 it is. thats in portal i went nocliping around in portal (pc) and i found the borealis and i heard the code but didnt know what it said and then yeah i found it ir was a distress signal. it was from the combine no joke there were zombies and striders fighting the zombies were more powerful and they took out the striders no joke

  • @dasawesome121 I guess you also didn't notice when they said aperture science multiple times right?

  • @willmtemple i wasnt paying atention when kliener said "our piers from aperture science..."until i played it again a few days later

  • the second one is not morse code it's SSTV code

  • guys, i can understand the morse code cuz i needed that in army!

this is so wierd... trust me....

  • @malisa71 lol u dont know morse code

  • @joejoe8151

why do you think that ?

  • @malisa71 because its clear you werent in the army for 1 and 2 im sure if you knew what it was you would have posted it i suggest not posting a comment if u dont want people calling you out

  • which rx is it?

  • how do i run this trough mmsstv? i can only get it to encode, not decode.

  • Yeah the radios are just a verification of Portal 2 and some of it is just makeing fun of dialup, I remembered when I had it, it made the same god damn sounds

  • some of the signals are SSTV radio transmission images (if u run them through a ham or transistor radio thats hotwire to a screen u get grainy pictures of files and one is a picture of a skull!!?) there all posted on wikipedia

  • The morse says: "Interior Transmission Active External Data Line Active Message Digest Active"

  • since when does the borealis belongs to portal instead of half life ? O.o

  • @darkumiz

Look at the logo on the cargo that it's getting: Aperture science-> Portal

SO that's also why people theorised that in hl2ep3 the freeman would get a portal gun (which most likely not happen)

  • 1t 3:00 what is that backround portal 2 because its on demo now i cant wait for it to come out :3 :D XD

  • It helps if you use the Vuvuzela button ;D

  • SOME OF THEM ARE .JPG FILES PLAYED AS AUDIO NOT MORSE CODE. I can't tell what they are pictures of but they all have apature science logo's in the corner

  • @TheHalffire omg thats creepy

  • it's probably supposed to be distress signals from the "borealis".

  • its morse code for Portal 2 and 2011

  • sos = - - - . . . - - -

  • I think it's SOS

But the signals are being disturbed.

  • er... let me see...

one of them is "INTERIOR TRANSMISSION ACTIVE EXTERNAL DATA LINE ACTIVE MESSAGE DIGEST ACTIVE" another is "SYSTEM DATA DUMP ACTIVE USER BACKUP ACTIVE PASSWORD BACKUP ACTIVE" another one is LOL "and... strangely the last one is a MD5 hash "9E107D9D372BB6826BD81D3542A419D6" er I took that to some translater and its pretty funny... The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog

  • @tangletailpro When I ran some of the morse through a HAM radio program I got some of that

  • it's morse code for LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • or rather trolololol

  • ok its morse code for SOS

  • guys if you think this is mindblowing i found two new sounds! they werent in portal or any custom map. and they werent on youtube. so i put them in a video and put it up on youtube. im trying to let as many people know as possible. this is a great find. and know that no one else has found it makes it all the much sweeter. :3

  • use sstv, i figured that out in 25 secs, lol.

  • The first code shouldnt be hard for someone who knows morse codes. Because its just loops, you hear that little peep, after that it just loops.

  • What with everyone saying Troll?

Someone tell me what it means?

Is it some trick or some joke?

Anyways this message is going out to Borealis or someone since

''Back up'' was mentioned twice in this I think

  • it looks and sounds like glados is transferring her data to another computer/Glados. the weird sound at 0:34 sounds kinda like an old telephone dial-up.

  • the photos encrypted in fax protocol creep the hell out of me

  • @TheLocalDJ WTF is on the photos?

  • @ForceUnleasher12345 I have no idea too, but i wouldn't really want to know, spoiler :P

  • full translation:

    Interior transmission active

    External data line active

    Message digest active

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog

    System data dump active

    User back up active

    Password back up active

    Beep beep beep beep lol

    lol xD

  • @ostankin666 what?!

  • @ostankin666 how in the world did you figure that out

  • @Voteonme Google, sweet Google :D hope this won't go for adv?:)

  • Wow!! Valve... YOU GUYS ARE GENIOUS!! THIS IS PROBABLY A REFFERENCE TO WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN HL 2 EPISODE 3 OR IN PORTAL 2!! VALVE YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING!

  • someone can translate? :s

  • @noobfear33 0:00 translates to:

    "Interior transmission active

    External data line active

    Message digest active"

    7:20 translates to:

    "System data dump active

    User back up active

    Password back up active "

  • @noobfear33 and 2:38 translates into 9E107D9N372BB6826BD81D35H2A419D6 - A code for something?

  • It;s a long string of machine garble that are basically variants on "interior transmission active" but the last string actually translates into "beep beeep beep beep beeep beeep beeep beep beeep beep beep" Which you can look at as ".-..- - -.-.." Which, as far as I can tell, is morse code for LOL. Seriously.

  • Don't listen to it, you're nuts will implode.

  • first two words are "interior transmission"

  • im gonna translate this asoon as i slow it down

  • guess Wat i have a portal half life theory mabby the codes are from the borealis and they need help so chell and gordan unite i mean think about it were else could the codes be from or its just glados messig with us

  • @zefg123 Seeing as how all the screens found of portal 2 show the enrichment center ovverun with plant growth, this seems unlikely.

  • @zefg123 in portal 2 chell brought back into the aperture sicence place where it is destoryed so its unlikey that gordon and chell will meet

  • The first file has been translated to read: "interior transmission active external data line active message digest active". I found this on internet. Steam users translated it. I hope we solve the mystery!!

  • Please Read this! This is Crazy!!!

This Sound is a Code. A Code If you Encode it, you get this

Crazy Picture of Portal 2 and you Can Read GLADOS Had Version 3.11

    Very Nice easter egg !!!

    Sorry for Bad English !

  • its got a nice beat..

  • im gonna download this video, slow mo it and translate it.

  • its images from protal 2. its really messed up. theyre on the steam forums

  • yknow theres something i noticed some of the props that are in half life 2(not in episodes but its included in episodes aswell nevermind)

    are called props/borealis/(propname)

so the borealis wasnt thought about only in episode 2 the plot for borealis existed from the begining of hl2 itself

  • @killer21334 the borealis existed since short before the black mesa incident and then it vanished along with the crew. The apeture science team

  • @ThorSchou ya i know what im saing is that the borealis was planned from the begging of hl2 not just at hl2 ep2

  • @killer21334 oh my bad didn't see that :)

  • Morse Roll'd

  • @JJCtheBeast

    or Valve trolled.. x)

  • i know what it meens

but i can't post a link becuase youtube changed

anyone who want's the link contact me trow msn

  • this....fucking.... creeps.... me....out

  • hmmm morse code not really good at that BUT im almost sure its related to the borealis maybe they sent a distress signal? maybe some type of incripted code?

it would mae sence i mean the borealisis an appreture science shipso its sending a destress call back to the base i wonder what will happen

Vlave continues adding preasure without end also theres the change to the portal ending whatever they have in mind must be big

  • In my Gamer Informer it says there is gonna be a Portal 2 possibly

  • @DoodlDdot

    Yeah it's already being developed

  • @DoodlDdot tes infact there is gonna be a portal 2 i decoded the messeges and i got portal pictures that arnot in portal 1 so it has to be portal 2 and it shows plants in aperture labritorys

  • @BrokenRoflcopter lol funny. it's a secret rickroll

  • omg

    a rick roll comment

  • hmm-well-in wikipedia it says there will be a "Half life 2 episode three" but not when-and it says there is going to be a "Portal 2" BUT NOT WHEN.

so wich one will be released first?

  • Some of them are MORSE mesages and the rest are SSTV (Slow update TV) witch formes a small image, you must have special images....

  • The first 2 seconds translates into Portal. I dunno the rest, I'm researching now.

  • notice how the borialis is an aperture ship

  • @Gunsounder

    well duh

  • The borealis! from half life 2!!

The worlds are merging and here come the combine.

  • I heard SOS somewhere in there.. but that's all I know of Morse code.

  • The only that really make sense is:

iystem data dump active user backup active password backup active

    and

nterior transmission active external data line active message digest active

  • I've tried the tool CwGet and the result is:

    #eieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeteetteeeeeeeeeeetteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeettttttteeeetteeeetteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetteeeeeeeeeettetteee

But i know that i've the wrong settings... i'll try other settings

  • @Meuchelfix77 thats how it is theres a morse code that seems to tell another morse code but when u put it backwards it says lol

  • my friend can morse, i'll give this to him

  • Your friend will need the program SSTV to put the sound into the program. 26 screens will appear giving clues about the upcoming Portal 2. Search Google for those 26 screens :-)

Or the program or search Youtube for more info

  • @MISTERAMD i know we solved it

  • Now translating the morse code!!!

  • @jeyko666 what sense does 1:00-2:00 make? that isnt morse its just annoying sounds

  • @8B6EB8 Its SSTV encoding sounds.. For a low scan radio frequency.

    Basically a picture in sound.

  • WTF!!! I'm not using a microphone and im decoding it!!!!! wTF???

  • can anyone post the translated morse code?

  • He he he... proud to say that I've solved the morse code section using nothing but my hands and ears. Heck yes.

  • @FiverBeyond so what does the morse code say?

  • If you go to the steam forums and look at the portal section, you can find the translation... don't want to spoil it here for anybody who might be working on it.

But I'll tell you now that it's nothing incredible... no spoilers or anything like that.

  • fucking love morse! gotta learn the language. also at 1:00 that sound is fucking annoying

  • I tried using this program called MULTIPSK it decodes codes from ham radios I had it stored on my back up drive there are like 25 diffent codes it can read, I haven't all of them YET but I can't seem to decode that binary sound :/

  • binary? you mean the boop boop bop bop boop? that is morse. the high pitched is sstv (or at least i read it with sstv program)

  • Ahh the Ham radio data decoder has SSTV on it!! :D

  • all i got at the begging was "transmission active external data line active message digest active"

Still working on it, please stand by.....

  • Now you're thinking with Radios!

  • 2:38 - 3:04

    9E1Ø7D9D372BB6826Bd81D3542A419D6

  • 7:16 - 7:50

System Data DUMP Active User BackUp Active Password BackUp Active

  • INTERIOr Transmission Active External Data Line Active Message DigEsT Active

    0:00 - 0:34

  • Some of this is morse code, while some are RXSSTV codes, that can be decoded into bitmap images.

  • you can DECODE sounds in to IMAGES!? do you know how?

  • YEs Download RX-SSTV (google it) Then play this clip and woila you got images ;D If you have a microphone Turn it off to be sure to get pictures :D

  • OMG IT WORKED! thank you very much my friend! THANK YOU. but the pictures doesnt make any sense to me. but the skull is coooool

  • Yes. I am also unsure what the pictures mean but ;D And great that it worked for you

  • though it olny worked with microphone. do you know how to make it direct record (no mic)?

  • @Metalsonic2008 I'd bet the skull is the Ratman's skull.

  • what settings do i need to use, and how do i import the sounds?

  • I had the same reaction xD. Its actually some freeware called RX SSTV that decodes it. ( note: microphones may screw up the entire image )

  • wut? my mic worked very well, i used mic because i couldnt get direct record working. i muted the mic and put the other volume bar on max (cd and the other), i ticked in something (between cd and mic), and it didnt work. so i chose mic, max vol, put it next to the Front Right speaker (i have 5.1 home teathre sound system) and it went just fine!

  • this all makes totall sence..scence as how people decoded all this stuf...i mean look at from 0:00 till 0:35...its sayign all that shit, so and so active, so and so active.....glados is rebooting all this shit..shes running shit and sayign its active and up, PEPLE GLADOS HAS REBOOTED END OF STORY, IT MAKES TOTALL SENCE

  • Apart from borealis it could be glados!!

  • Don't recognize sounds think closer.... its a modem, from VALVES BBS turn it to an SSTV as for the ones that sound like the first are morse code

  • "system data dump active user backup active password backup active"

    that's the second one

  • Of course! The Borealis is sending morse codes and the Portal radio catch the signal!

  • that's what the first morse code says

  • interior transmission active external data line active message digest active

  • Portal 2 has been announced :D

  • valve has a way of pulling you back in

  • Half life 2 episode 3! bring it on

  • my ass

  • oh really, like you know better? I've taken a semester of Morse code class and I got an A in it.

  • If it would really say that, i would know it

  • really? So you would just know it because of some amazing gift you have? Well Morse code is another language, so I suppose you go around with your magic ears or something and can understand what someone says in oh say Japanese fluently?

Get off your high horse you short dick.

  • You were talking about kokakola20, right?

  • yes.

  • i love this stuff, i wish more companys did this sort of thing, very fun :) i wish games would constantly update with intersting stuff

  • By the way: The first signal is Morse, but I haven't decoded it. It looks like someone did farther down the page. The rest sounds like telemetry signals, such as those from spacecraft reporting system status and other things. Like I said, they're just fucking with us to pique our interest. It's viral marketing.

  • and it works

  • Hells yes.

  • Good job, VALVe. You're fucking with us again, and we love you for it. I can't wait to see how this turns out, but for now I'll just enjoy the suspense.

  • Just ran this through a Morse-Code audio decoder. This is what I got:

"nterior transmission active external data line active message digest active"

Can't get the entire first word, I guess the audio is messed up in the beginning.

  • i just read up on a swedish gaming forum and somebody there thought that it might be GlaDOS booting up. i guess that would make sense.

  • It.s morse code XD

  • yes i know-.- what the morse code translates to sounds like some kind of souce code for GlaDOS booting up.

  • Interior?

  • Yeah it does sound like SSTV and it had some interesting photos don't know what the messages mean in each one pretty interesting what do the Beeps mean?

  • i think it´s a help message of de borealis

remembered this, the history of portal occur between of the history of hl1 and hl2 maybe at that time the borealis and had disappeared but was not yet captured by the combine or maybe are notices about the borealis or hl2ep3 or portal 2 (sorry for my english)

  • grat i love you valve :D

valve love destroy the head of everybody with her riddles (sorry for my english)

  • man..this is so eerie..I have the chills..

  • I'm starting to wonder if not Gman is in fact a robot from Aperture, it would fit in pretty well wouldn't it? GLaDOS made him give the crystal to Black Mesa, screwing the whole world up because GLaDOS is afraid that Black Mesa was the only one who could stop her MWHAAHAHAHAHA I love game-conspiracy theories
