hi wonder if you can help, when i tried to use horn thumbring on my bow( i am a complete begginer to this archery style) when i try to draw the arrow back it wants to slip off my hand thats holding the bow and point at almost 45 degrees away from the target.it just doesnt want to stay straight!!! i am right handed but it happens wither i knock the arrow on the left or right side of the grip
Your bows are beautiful. Looks like they don't stack much on the draw, either. Do they have very much hand shock on release?
When and if you consider selling your bows, I will be eagerly in line to order two of them. I love traditional archery, even though I started as an olympic style archer.
I hunt with a man in Canada who also built his own horn (antler) bow and harvested an elk with it. It took most of a year to build but only lasted for a hundred shots, then broke. He has built several since, all for display now.
To avoid warpage and to maintain the poundage. If you keep your bow contantly strung the bow will loose less power because the limbs will be use to being flexed where as if you unstring them they will flex more and thus you get more power. It isn't about beig "cool" it is about being smart and knowing how to handle your bow.
I didn't buy it...I made this bow...I have no idea how to price this kind of bows... It was made from two pieces of water buffalo horns, lots of moose sinew, maple wood and put together by my home made fish bladder glue.... It tooks roughly 18~24 months to finsh...
@yokhua You string it just like a recurve? I have a niece and nephew who are Korean and have started looking into traditional Korean archery. How do I get the materials to make a bow. Any help would be appreciated. I stopped using a compound 6 years ago in favor of a recurve and now want to ditch that for the horn bow. Thanks in advance./

That bow is lovely!
Where did you get the bamboo arrows from? And do you have any info on how they compare to conventional wooden ones?

80 pounds? Thinking that most Korean archers draw bows of #40~#50, that's truly astonishing!
How much does your arrow weigh when you shoot #80 hornbow? Such an arrow would be indeed heavy.
