  • dude where is the rest of this documentary...........

  • I hate how the ads are often twice as loud as the programs on youtube.

  • These traitors should be lined up against a wall and shot for plundering the treasures of their own country. They really have rotten souls...

  • these objects are probably better out of the country, i understand the irony where the europeans destroyed the fabric of afghan society and the now the main benificieries of the loot, but in the present climate afghans cannot protect these obgects as they could not protect bamiyan, a disgrace to the honour of all muslims

  • These ancient artifacts are AFGHAN! having some problems with protecting them doesnt meant we should just hand them over to some white, rich diplomat in europe.instead of helping us protect these incredible objects, buying them and letting the market warm for financial benefits makes these rich bastards as guilty as the traitors who are looting it.i agree buddhas of Bamiyan were a tragedy...

  • well put....you are right

  • hahahahahaha stupid bitch

  • Nice documentaries you guys have!

  • soo the poor of Afghanistan are making a few bucks selling relics on the illegal market. WHO CARES?

Apparently the art customers don't care. The only people that care are some salaried museum bureaucrats.

  • Kaspar--Who cares???? If we consider ourselves to be a nation/society/community that cares about human dignity then we should care that we are part of a commodity market that allows artifacts/history/culture of another nation to be displaces/fagmented/ and objectified for or own consumer fetishism. Every artifact that we allow to be sold as a commodity, is our participation in the degrdation and eradication of other cultures. we should be ashamed of such crimes.

  • We? who is "we"? This is between Afghanistan and Belgium.

But either way I cannot work myself up about your abstract high brow cultural concerns here.

Our museums are overflowing with ancient artifacts. Humanity doesn't need anymore. These art deals give the peasants of Afghanistan a chance to make some money in their war torn impoverished nation.

  • why would she say it is stolen to a possible client. Sounds like they ripped her words out of the context.

  • It is a shame really. One thing that leads to stability in a country is a strong basis of history, culture and identity. Losing these artifacts only further serves to undermine these foundations.

  • lmao busted.

  • if its in the ground and someone finds it ..then sell the fucker before some other greedy bastard finds it and sells it to some american expert who will put it into some big flash museum...were no afghani will ever see it anyway...

  • shop keeper got caught red handed..argh.. I wish I could watch the rest of it on youtube..

  • is it just me or is youtube really slow now??

  • gets like that midday sometimes

  • Can't blame then when they get like1 billion views a day streaming videos for everybody. I bet u the company has to constantly upgrade their server to run it faster because of the constant increasing viewership.

  • As for illegal looting and smuggling yes it happens alot - I wasn't aware Belgium was that bad though! Different countries have thier own laws so it can be hard for governments to cooperate and tackle this. Museums themselves are often happy to take stolen goods, just like this dealer woman here.

  • "If God wills it, soon we'll be living in Paris" - that pisses me off.. Why can't people create thier own societies? Thier own infrastructure? Its always just easier to go and leech off of Europe, to transplant thier community in some unsuspecting suburb of a Western city.; the sheer numbers of people doing exactly this mean that Europe will no longer exist in 100, 200 years.. Do these people flood to Japan with its riches? No, because the people there WON'T ALLOW IT! It doesn't have to happen!

  • i agree 150% with you andy.

  • "Easier Said then Done" - i love this phrase because its so true.. The economies of African nations are very weak and easily exploited. Industries lack any subsidies from their own government. China is the #1 investor in Africa. They subsidize a lot of the African countries now. In return they get all the natural resources. China is exploiting the hell out of Africa but in return they get skyscrapers, factories and textile industries, etc... A nation can not change within a decade.

  • Be realistic here, Japan doesn't have the problem for 3 reasons.

    1. The economies in east and south asia are a lot more stable compared to African nations. Japans next two 4 good economies Russia, South Korea, China and Taiwan.

    2. All neighboring countries and south pacific countries are politically stable

    3. It's suicidal to go to Japan on a small boat through the rough Pacific sea. Mediterranean sea is VERY CALM.

For some reason I know a lot about immigration. Ask me and ill give u an answer.

  • HAHAHA yeah it IS suicidal to go on a small boat in the HUGE Pacific. only idiots go there that way.

  • Japan does have immigration problems but mass immigration is just not possible like here in the US or Europe

  • Yeah, they should really stay in their war torn hell hole of a country just to soothe your conscience, how selfish of them. Paris happens to be one the most desirable places to live on earth for people of considerable wealth so why should it be any different for Afghans? It's not like they said "If God wills it, soon we'll be claiming benefits in Bradford".

  • what the hell are u talking about?? u smelly, fat, cum guzzling irish piece of shit!

  • The reality is that no one has ever been cursed or hunted via grave disturbance, almost no one living can prove they are related to the body. A mummy or skeleton isn't something sacred, it is just like a pot, a means to study the record. Archaeologist are professionals seeking scientific results in the least damaging way. They aren't going to dig up your grave after you die, they will dig it up if you become useful again, and you sure as hell aren't going to rise from the dead to haunt them

  • does this guy even know how long a minute is

  • It was a 5 minute promo for the full length documentary to which the link was on the right hand side.....

  • those politicians and diplomats who buy ancient stolen art should be named publicly (so no one votes for them again..) and arrested..! i beleive all ancient art -artifacts should NOT be in private hands that should be illegal and without exeptions.. plus all ancient art found in other counties should be returned back to their home country (exept if that country doesnt have a fair and good system to protect the antiquties from being stolen...)

  • the elgin marbles, had they gone back to greece would be in a terrible condition. that is a fact considering the amount of decay that has happened upon the acropolis. Your country didnt take good care of the artifacts and that is a great shame.

  • you are wrong my friend since the british museum organized parties and official dinners in the Marbal's room and they "whitened" the marbals by brushing them with iron wire brushes !!! , what heppend to the marbals because of the pollusion is not compared with that and it wasnt our fault we didnt have money to build a museum for them , now the new acropolis museum is one of the finnest in the world... prick!

  • den pirasi, looks like they will be staying in good old england ! forever ! ti na kanoume malaka? tipota tipota! xaxaxaxa koufalla ....!

  • it looks like you know greek probably because you came to greece as a dirty english tourist asshole . probably you are a member of the drunk british plague that every summer infects our beautifull islands causing vandalisms violent attacks and many manifestations of your barbaric nature!!...

  • very well said now that the acropolis museum is up and running and one of the best in the world their is no reason what so ever that the british museum could not make copies of the originals and give the originals back to where they belong as you rightly say as long as they can be correctly looked after and protected then they should be their for everyone to enjoy

  • there are good british my friend , i m not saying otherwise , i hope our country does better in protecting itsn own ancient things with help from the EU since our heritedge is worth i think the European taxpayer's money because its global..

  • Or maybe i came to study at the university of thessaloniki while studing ancient greek history, whilst there i fucked your mother and she filled me in on the finer points of the language. Its amazes me that a great country like greece whos people fought so well in world war 2 have now turned into pussies and let turkey take cyprus. amazing also that in the 21st century you still have to put your toilet paper into a bin because your drains are too small. what happend to your nation??? ;)

  • your heritage is some of the most important if not the most important in the western world your list of firsts and achievements is huge i love anything from the classical period ive read a lot about ancient Greece everything from Plato to Herodotus a lot of what we have today from architecture to medicine philosophy democracy mathamatics science and a legal system is thanks mainly to the ancient Greeks i think its as important to know where we come from as it is to know where we are going

  • The camerawork is brilliant.

  • i dont understand any of this, is it ok for me to go dig up a coffin in a grave yard tonight? no its not. so why can they do it just because its old dose not mean we can violate someone else final resting place. just imagine if your mothers grave was robed of any belongings. sorry for the spelling.

  • You saw he clip at the start didn't you? Its Afghan people digging it up, robbing their own "mothers" as you put it, then they find people with money to buy them. In the middle east, average Islamic people have little to no respect for things which are pre or non Islamic and for Islamic art, well, actual Muslims wouldn't be buried with them.

  • the difference is huge. none of the relatives of those people who knew them alive are still alive themselves, and there are no ancestors around claiming the tomb. take into account the poverty of those still inhabiting the land and the huge improvement that money could make to their lives, i dont think there is much of a moral dilemma.

  • Selling your own countries history is sad. Those antiquities are priceless. Not to mention the amount of exploitation that is going on here. The Afghans who dig this probably get less then .1% of the money those priceless artifacts are actually worth. Anybody know how much those artifacts sell for in Belgium???

  • so if we did it up it's archaeology. if they did it up it's tomb robbing ???? wtf ???

  • Yes, because when Archaeologists dig a site, the artifacts are preserved for the world to see and study. When anyone else does it, and sells them, they end up in private collectors hands and are never seen again. Lost to history.

  • i agree with u

  • but after his comment i must agree with

    ozvulcan

  • do a documentary on the antique shops of Bangkok that openly sell artifacts from Angkor

  • I want to study this in uni...
