Marco has a much more developed and original sound than most drummers in metal. He's spent so much of his life playing in progressive and fusion bands that his rhythm tends to be a bit more scattered. He does it on purpose. His sound is so iconic--you hear it and you know who it is. Many others don't have that sound. If he actually did suck at death metal, there's absolutely no way necrophagist would've hired him. I wish he still played with them.

You don't mix the same way through the PA of a club that you would for a recording. Soundboard audio on pro recordings was recorded channel for channel on a multitrack system before being mixed and then mixed afterwards in a studio.
