  • Thank God Obama is a president.

  • OBOMBUS did'nt even read any of the BUllshit he preaches, just watch a speach then read the news the next day, They can't even fix stupid !

  • Privatizing social security so that the money can be gambled with in the stock market? Brilliant! Clinton left W a surplus, and Bush proceeded to fuck it all up, just like the oil business his daddy gave him & the support of the whole world pretty much right after 9-11.The big scare about socialized medicine is that "your healthcare will be rationed", but in most cases, it already is rationed in this country - TO THE WEALTHY!

  • Many of these bills have pork and ear marks. Everyone knows that if McCain sees that he will not vote for it and will insist on a revised version; hence the term he wasn't for it and then he was for it. They all do this. I can list fifteen such bills that Obama didn't vote for, having to do with Vet's medical issues. Maybe he had his reasons.

What worries me is how illegals will come here because Health care is now a "right", per Obama?

  • Just the fact that McCain has consistently (and unbelievably) voted AGAINST increases in funding for our war vets is reason enough to dismiss him..and fast.

  • Go ahead, do WHO a favor and leave! LOL. YOU?

    Hahahahah.

  • why dont you go to a site where people agree with you? You're certainlyy not impressing me here! To call yourself an Independant is a joke. A Publican in Independant clothing is more like it!

  • YOu may be right about the Publican comment. I was one. I am hoping to pull the party away from the far right. I'm far more right wing than left, so, call me whatever. I do side with the right more often than not. But, that's why I like McCain, because he's always tried to push the party more to the center, and get sides to work through their differences. I was kidding about converting you. Not a You Tuber, just go stuck on this thread because of you, to be honest.

  • As to why I don't go to sites where people agree with me, that's no fun. Is that what Democrats do?

  • JakiiRSM: Did you know that Joe Biden backed $85 million in congressional earmarks to pay for 71 projects in 2008, according to the nonpartisan Taxpayers for Common Sense?

I think I'll stay here. I like this thread. I'm trying to convert you JakiiRSM. Lol. I know you're died in the wool, but maybe you could be convinced to re-register as an Independent like me, so you can start seeing both sides of these issues.

  • Very presumptious. So in order to see both sides I need to re-rigister? LOL LOL You are very arrogant! Talk earmarks, if McCain is so opposed to them why did he pick Palin as his running mate? She was notorious! I see both sides! LOL Covert me, dream on. I am smarter than that and have served many a boards, commissions, and will not sit the fence. I am a Democrat and always will be. Yes Wall street is ultra conservative, thus the mess. The Journal headed by none other than Rupert Murdock.

  • We haven't even talked about Hunter Biden, Joe's SON, who was hired right out of law school as a "consultant" by MBNA, and has had a several Washington lobbiest jobs ever since.

Did you know that Joe Biden is still running for Senator, so that if Obama wins, he can "appoint" his successor as state senator, who is expected to be his son. Pretty crafty, wouldn't you say?

  • Hunter Biden is no longer a lobbyist, it was a temporary job, so dont make a big deal out of that! Good try! Hey I think Bidens move is smart. Like the Pubs would never do something like that? LOL LOL Their crap is about out and out illegals stuff! LOL

  • Yuk, yuk. So, I guess the former lobbyists that are working on McCain's campaign are now exonerated based upon your reasoning. Thank you. I appreciate fair play.

  • Wait a minute. Hunter's lobbyist job wasn't temporary. He quit because his dad became a candidate and it looked controversial. Lol.

  • One of Biden's top donors, law firm Baron & Budd, was in the news recently because its founder, trial lawyer Fred Baron, acknowledged paying for former presidential candidate John Edwards's mistress to re-locate. Baron & Budd employees have given Biden $108,100 during his career.

  • Hahahahaha sutho2 Do you get the feeling you're talking to yourself? Its because no one is interested in your one sided fox news BS! Your facts are lies and smears! Go ahead, do yourself a favor and leave! LOL

  • I guess the Wall Street Journal is another Fox News kind of organization. Lol...

  • Biden's largest business contributor over the years has been MBNA, the credit card company from his home state of Delaware. Conservative journalist Byron York has written about whether Biden's relationship with MBNA has been too cozy.

  • I'm sorry, I can't leave before I post this factoid I found:

Obama may decry lobbyist cash (or at least federal lobbyist cash), but Biden has taken $344,400 from lobbyists since 1997 -- making lobbyists the 10th biggest contributing industry.

  • I do "blame the fraud perpetrated by the lenders". The lenders are BIDENS campaign supporters and contributors. How else could he stay their Senator for over 30 years when such a large percentage of people in that state work for these "lenders". I guess this is lost on the media, as I have yet to hear anyone report on it.

By the way, I know you want me to stop on this thread, as I'm messing with your Chi again, as this is a Republican hating thread and I don't belong. Go ahead without.

  • People who shouldn't have qualified for credit card loans got loans. Biden is the main credit card company front man in Delaware. In many cases 30% plus interest rates kicked in, causing people to be over their heads, who shouldn't have been able to get credit in the first place. Biden's protection and support of these companies has enabled them to get rich while these poor people can't get help by way of credit card debt foreclosure reorganization. This was the tipping point.

  • sutho2 It is people just as illinformed as you who got us in to the mess we are in. You voted for Bush!! I see you don't blame the fraud perpetrated by the lenders, it's always we the peoples demand for something for nothing and now this. You're just who those corporate mongers love, ignorance! Your info on Biden is all wrong. I told you to stop watching Fuax Noise! my god, you are too ignorant to talk to ...go away!

  • "you are too ignorant to talk to ...go away! "

    No problem. Bye. Lol.

  • Did you know that because of Biden and his Delaware credit card companies people can't go bankrupt on credit card debt, they have to let their homes go into foreclosure. You can go backrupt if you can't pay your house payment, but credit card debt is immune to bankruptcy due to Obama's credit card company lobbiests who control him? Delaware is where the majority of credit card companies are because he has helped them with laws that protect them. Thank Biden and his cronies.

  • sutho2 whose lobbyists??? I don't think you are counting McLames 22 lobbyists on his staff and the $2 bill he received from them. Your info is way off base, go back to school! His decisions were financially for the country not for personal gain. Try talking about the take from oil companies and McCains financial gain. Big difference!

  • The "lobbyists on his staff are "FORMER" lobbyests. They aren't lobbyists anymore. However, they do know a lot of the right people to get things done for his presidency race. Smart.

"..go back to school!" Lol. Good zingers.

  • Quotes: "You are very ill-educated. You are wrong! You are crazy. Wise up! Try educating yourself other than FAUX Noise. You have no depth to what you say." All Dem methods of debate. Look, remember Obama's statements about how he was going to fix preditory lending by credit card companies? Then, he hires old Senator Biden, the king of the Delaware credit card malitia, that put preditory lending laws in place? That's why people can't make their house payments, if you want to dig deeper.

  • By the way, regarding Anbar, when two additional Marine battalions were sent to Anbar, and it wasn't until they were deployed and the counterinsurgency implemented that the Anbar Awakening began to work. That may have been before the surge, but it was a targeted surge that demonstrated the potential effectiveness that a surge could bring, into the rest of Iraq. Because of that mini surge in Anbar, prior to the awakening, the surge then could concentrate on Bagdad when they were deployed later.

  • sutho2 You are very ill-educated. Over $800,000 was paid to the Sunni's to quiet down long before the surge was even announced by Bush. You are wrong! The Pubs like to take credit where it isn't due. Ask any military person who was there, I have!

  • Yes, we also protected the Sunni Sheiks from their Shia enemies, many of whom had uniforms on, to get them all to settle down. Good idea, huh? It worked. What part of how it worked don't you like? Would you have rather pulled out when Harry the idiot Reid said the war was lost? Yes, I know you would, because then the screwed up Iraq would stand as a symbol for a failed war. Where is your "failed war" rhetoric these days? Oh, yes, you're switching to "the economy" and "abortion" now as topics.

  • Or, is that Ciao. Yes. That's it. Sorry.

  • Correction..."Funny how the democrats hate that part"... it's late. Caio.

  • Don't you remember, some of your party was for the surge? The point is, regardless of the Sunnis backing off, the end result is a country that has a viable democracy to the chagrin of fundamentalists in Iran, etc. I originally wasn't for the war, but I am for a good outcome. Funny how the democrats had that part. Weird how you fellow Americans would rather we lost the war, like that idiot Nevada Senator Harry Reid. What a fool. If we'd pulled out when he said it was lost...it would have been.

  • sutho2 Some of my party was for it, like who, Lieberman? LOL You are crazy. No matter when we leave the Sunni's will be back at it. There is NO winning over there, wise up! We need to win here, in case you haven't noticed, our country is bankrupted and in deep trouble by your boys! Funny how you Pubs. always manage to screw things up, you know by that idiot Bush?? LOL Try educating yourself other than FAUX Noise

  • Republicans get us in trouble? As I recall it was JFK and then LBJ that got us into and perpetuated Vietnam. Nixon, though guilty, was elected on grounds that he would get us out. It took two terms to do so. The Bush strategy right now is to stabilize the country by slowing down the fighting and work with all factions. You cant admit that there is stabilization going on, which must really mess with your chi. A peaceful Iraq is a good thing.

  • Experience counts

  • John McCain blocked the release of classified POW/MIA documents because it would have told which of our men broke down under the Viet Cong's torture. Is that what you want to hear about, people find out that these people who endeared years of confinement and the worse kind of abuse couldn't take it anymore and signed papers telling that America was the real enemy. If so, you are sick. Leave these damaged vets alone.

  • He's saying it can be fixed. If it takes privatization, and that's the only way to fix it, outside of kicking foreign immigrants that are using it for rest homes and other things in this country, what is your solution? You offer no options, only digs at McCain. What a surprise. A democrat without a plan, only complaints. So, what's new here?

  • sutho2 Wake up for gawds sake. Where has privatization helped you? All they need to do is get SS back into its own private fund so these morons cant touch it. Our so called leaders are the ones spending it. We don't need business in any more of our business. Their interests are not for us, only their stockholders, and almighty greed. McLame-brain is just the one to push the middle class over the edge. I can see his foot out now ready to push.

  • This is a debtor nation, where the Federal Reserve loans us whatever we need to make ends meet. The IRS gives them your tax money to pay the interest on those loans. If there weren't so many people on the dole in this country, we could stand on our own legs. Except for John Kerry who wanted McCain as his running mate, who else but McCain works both sides of the isle to get things done?

  • sutho2 Oh BS.... And China, India and any other nation you can think of that we are indebted to.. The Federal Reserve is an entity that is not of this country, but manages to run things here. you are right, and let's include big corporate in that take, and the hugely expanded government Bush set in place, and a war. The middle class have had about as much of the blame as they can stand from you neocons. How about illegal aleins? Bush in 8 years did nothing to stop it and either will McSame.

  • No one is going to do anything about the Illegals. We all know it. Our country is becoming more socialist every year, and your comments remind me why I'm still a Republican, though they are often too for to the right. At least they don't drip socializum as do the Demcrates. Sorry, that's the way I see it. McCain isn't anything like Bush. They fought tooth and nail during the last eight years. You don't remember that? Your sales pitch of "McSame", is wrong. How does being in lockstep feel?

  • sutho If you paid attention to these candidates voting records you would not be a Republican. How can you support a party that does not support you? Republicans historically (look at Bush) support corporate over the people. Just look at the condition of the middle class and open your eyes. The Republicans believe in giveaways, corporates giveaways. You dont want gov. in your business, well guess what, I am sick of business in my life! They are running this country while we are all backsliding

  • McCain is a flip flopper, lets call it what it is. He changes positions as he goes along. He reacts politically not out of a belief system. The proof is in who he chose as his VP. Kerry felt it would get the flip flopping accusations off his back with McCain. Bad choice. I didn't vote for him anyway. McCain is all talk and is phoney. If you don't believe me check out his voting record for veterans, pretty dismal! This from a POW which he touts repeatedly! Vets groups do not support him!

  • What happened to your arguments that that the WAR was the main issue? Must really piss all of you Dems off that we'll now have a democracy in an area of the world that otherwise used to hate us, but now do not. Guess you have to switch your view to issues like the economy. Our national dept is the issue now, but, at least McCain has more depth and experience in these issues, as compared to Obama, of whom we know nothing about. How do you like paying the tax bills for others? That's Obama.

  • un huh sutho2 So your behind McSame who is so out of touch with the war that he told katie couric the anbar awakening began after the surge which began Feb. 07. The awakening began in 2006 before Bush even announced the surge. Paying off the sunnis to back off began months before the surge. That was succeeding way before the surge took place. This is a guy who said that middle class is people who earn under $5mil. He is out of touch and he is just like BUSH! You are out of touch as well.

  • sutho2 I think you are assuming a little too much. Democracy my butt. Those people have been fighting for thousands of years and will continue! So dream on! McLame has more experience, well tell me what in the 26 years has he done? You dont know Obama? He's been on the political scene and national scene a lot longer than Palin who you are all drooling over. You tell me you know her? You people are so transparent it is beyond laughable. LOL LOL

  • Well, thanks for the entertainment. You seem to act like I think McCain is perfect. I don't. I just don't like someone's hand in my pocket, while their telling me how we need to take care of everyone who don't work. Guess that makes me a republican. I actually like Obama. I just don't like the part where he is too socialist for me. I don't want to live in China, even if they might have a better standard of living than us one day. Oh well, as I don't care to convert anyone, this is pointless.

  • If the buy outs of fannie mae and freddie mac aren't socialist I dont know what is. Bush nationalized them!!! Hand in YOUR pocket? LOL The pubs have bigger gov than Reagan, bankrupted our country, billions given to corporates and bailouts. God forbid we the people would want something? How ignorant can one be. Bush has us on our way to a third world country, look around. McCain flip flopped and fights with anyone because he can't control his temper. You have no depth to what you say.

  • McCain's "Straight Talk" is about as "straight" as Larry Craig. Old geezer can't even get his lies in order.

  • The group Vietnam Veterans Against McCain attacks Senator John McCain's heroism as a POW in the Vietnam conflict; this is making some waves in the news due to McCain's presidential candidacy.

The documentary "Missing, Presumed Dead the Search for America's POWs" however focuses more on Senator John McCain successfully blocking the release of classified POW/MIA documents.

Here is a DVD extra from that documentary. A DVD of the documentary may be purchased at MissingPresumedDead website

  • Wow, you know the media has been rough on Obama lately due to the McCain attacks. I think McCain has shown his cowardly side, to attack Obama while he's overseas was very cowardly and inappropriate, he damn near called him a traitor. Does he really think he can win by swift boating Obama? I don't think so. I think this will be a landslide victory with Obama as the winner!!!

    Obama 08'

  • Hey Mr. McCain, who's paying for the war on Iraq? The same people.

  • Don't Tell me what i "have to understand" Mr. McCain. You have no right to tell us that we need to coprehend things that you obviously don't. Considering that "you're not an expert" on financial matters, Socialize don't Privatize.

  • Make no mistake. McCain and the Republicans want to eliminate social security and every other program that benefits all Americans at the expense of the corporate elite. They do not have the interests of average working Americans in mind at all.

  • I am still floored that people still even consider Republicans at all, much less a bumbling Mr.Magoo with a mental side-arm. Not even to mention the shitstorm they got everyone into over the last 8 years.

  • Slippo Yep isn't it a joke about social security with McCain? He's just posturing seniors for his big attack on it, called big business. Well we see what business did to the health care in this county, banking industry, oil industry, and to our jobs. Right they care for us! It's all about greed at our sake! Can't you just see it now. The elderly will be charged for paperwork and every little thing they can think of until there is none left for them. And people fall for their crap.

  • Social Security has been robbed countless number of times. It would be fine if the Feds didn't steal from it numerous occassions. I also love how McCain's people are making YouTube accounts and attempting to add their input on videos under the guise of everyday Tubers. Look at how many videos "conservative" commentators have made.

  • McCain is rich he has 8 homes and a jet, so its okay to say that, he will not suffer but millions will Obama08

  • He says it is bad that Social Security is only being funded by current taxes as opposed to having savings in the bank. Just to simplify the math 10 workers are paying for 10 retirees but in a few year there are going to be 25 retirees and only 11 workers, how is that going to work?

  • Right, it looks like McCain would have us put social security in the hands of the same twisted fund managers and speculators taking our nation on the economical equivalent of Mr Toad's Wild Ride right now...that's just brilliant.

  • As far I'm consered McCain is puppet for the ruling class of the world that send American troops to war for no good reason, so they can clean out the Federal reserve and stuff their pockets with our tax paying dollars. McCain is will be a stoodge for elite just like Bush. Fear mongering will and questioning the Obama's patrotism will bring the old fart John McCain a victory come November.

  • To anyone who thinks that we shouldn't privatize:

There will be NO benefits for you 30 years from now. Wouldn't you rather be able to save 15% of your income for YOURSELF??? You morons think that you will lose it all in the stock market? FINE, buy US Treasuries with what you save. Let the government "save" for you, and you will have NOTHING.

    Fucking morons.

  • A very modest tax increase would be able to deal with that problem. Additionally, Social Security is an insurance program which also pays out about 25% of its benefits to beneficiaries who are not retirees. It is not merely a retirement program.

Another point is that I can find very long stretches of market performance that have not been particularly great. 1929-1954 was flat. 1966-2008 has only been 6% a year, approximately. Also, you are aware private accounts would have undoubtedly had a

  • bond component to them which no doubt, along with virtually all other similar retirement programs, would have included a large cross section of the AAA rated mortgage backed securities that have been plunging in the current crisis which were viewed as being safe 6% a year returns. That would have happened and we would currently have a mess.

  • I'm not talking about private bonds. US Treasuries. That's a better return than the NEGATIVE return you earn with SS.

Furthermore, I'm sick and tired of being taxed to death. 15.3% employment tax, 25% income tax, 5% property tax, 8.25% sales tax. 40% of my income is gone through payroll deductions and then I have to pay the other taxes on top of that. Screw raising taxes. How about we STOP WASTING MONEY.

  • Yes, we cant allow Obama to win, he will spend half his time in the mosque. Is Omama American?, I thought he was from England or somewhere like that, I know he can still be president because Arnold is president and he is from Austria. If Obama won would we have to change the flag to Englands? I am a massive McCain supporter, he speaks my language.

  • uh... what? Are you retarded?

  • As far as I have(n't) heard, the rule that you have to be born here to be President hasn't changed. Schwarzenegger can't be President.

Further, I hope you can't vote in the coming election if you haven't an actual reason for being a supporter of either candidate. The last thing America needs is politics broken into rings of stupidity: he sounds like me, I'm voting for him; he looks like my friend, I'm voting for him.

    Ludicrous.

    \`XZisle`/

  • Excellent video, Josh! Just wish more seniors could see and listen to this.

  • I totally agree with McCain, what he is saying is that we young workers can take responsibility of our own future retirement if we so choose. he is not flipping but this is not a black and white issue. Seeing this only strengthns my opinion of McCain as our Commander in Chief

  • I'd like to start out by giving you a little straight talk...!!!! LMAO.....anyone who starts off a sentence like that is not only a complete loser but a person who should not be trusted....come on mccain....i know you got better than that....LOL

  • Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent "Trust" fund and put it into the General fund so that Congress could spend it? THE DEMS, of course, during lbj's term.

Q: WhichParty eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding? DEMS

Q: WhichParty started taxing Social Security annuities? The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the "tie-breaking" vote as VP

Annuity payments to immigrants? Jimmy Carter and the Dems.

  • McCain reminds me of chief when i was in R.O.T.C

  • He forgot to mention that every dollar he's collected from his Senate pay to his Military pension is taken from working taxpayers.

Is he willing to privatize his pension too? After all he doesn't need it since he's a multi millionaire.

    Leave Social Security alone.

  • You guys are all out in left field over this, the Democrats took control of the social security funds and turned them into public use funds instead of the vested funds that were originally setup. What needs to be fixed is the way the funds have been used since the Carter administration and pay back the stolen monies that were originally set aside to continue these payments. Unfortunately, there is a fly in the soup here seeing as these funds are gone.

  • By The way Josh just had something in his ass, Guess what it was, Tune in next week For the answer.

  • Hi Im josh a gay man who hates republicans so Itune into Varacifier and see what a fag I am.

  • Wow. Well i guess he got more educated on economics like he said he needed to. He now understands the basics of how social security works. congrats. i learned that in 6th grade, but hey, at least hes trying. unfortunately calling it an absolute disgrace without getting into any specifics as to why, really shows how ignorant he is on the topic. he would have been much better off if he had never even mentioned it.

  • I think the alternative is raising the age cap as discussed in a debate from 2007

  • I've watched a few of these videos and you guys are hacks. If you honestly think that the Social Security system is NOT a disgrace, you're going to be sorely disappointed when your benefits are eliminated or the retirement age is 100.

We're in trouble and you're arguing over fucking semantics.

  • Benefits would have been eliminated now if it was privatized. Taking an unprotected chance on the US market is stupid as millions of baby boomers are finding out from the losses in all their stocks.

Don't touch social security, it was created because our markets aren't secure enough. That was the damn point.

  • You missed the point. At least McCain has an idea. There is a better return on investment with giving people access to putting part of their social security savings in accounts. A good idea. This is nothing compared to Obama's changing his stance on Iraq. He needed to be against Iraq in the primary, but now is going towards the middle on Iraq in the general election.

  • I think the alternative is raising the age cap as discussed in a debate from 2007

  • search 'don't vote hillary' on youtube to find the debate

  • search 'don't vote hillary' on youtube to find the debate

  • I think he is saying that the way we've had to be borrowing money and using the leftover SS to pay other expenses.

  • I dont know how you can say McCain doesnt speak like a leader. He is real. Obama speaks like a robot, not to peopel (like Governor Huckabee does) but at them. At least McCain speaks to people.

  • *****

  • It seems that McCain is struggling with what he really believes versus what he is being told to say.

  • This is great, substantive reporting. Thanks!

  • he can do better preaching in church that leading the country. watch his moves and talking not like a leader

  • "So, Privitization, not Privitization, It looks like McCain is starting to forget weather he is for it or against it."

    ITS CALLED A MIDDLE GROUND!!

if you actualy pay attention to what he is saying he has the same message.

    1. We need to change the way that SS collects and pays out.

    2. People should have a choice between the new changed government system or a private system or not at all.

  • Lay off John McCain, he is not a flip flopper.

HE IS JUST OLD AND SENILE AND FORGETS WHAT HE SAID PREVIOUSLY.

  • Interesting video, but I need to add: the number of Americans working is declining and the number of Americans getting old and retired is rapidly rising. It means that fewer tax payers are burdened even more to pay for social security of the elderly people. One day, a future Administration will have to admit that there is no money to pay to the retired people. In order to fix that, we need more people in the work force and make people understand that they have to manage their private economies.

  • Ever notice you never see McCain and Cotton Hill at the same time? I'm just sayin.........

  • lol, good one. never noticed, but your right.

  • if he think's social security is such a disgrace, why does he draw collect over $20,000 in SS benefits every year??? yes, he's entitled to it, having paid taxes for years, but it seems hypocritical at best to participate in a system that you think is an "absolute disgrace".

  • THE GUY IS 70!!!! old people live for the past and young people live for the future!

  • Read The Fair Tax Book, by GA Rep John Linder. This plan makes more sense than anything either candidate is saying, or planning. SS WILL FAIL if something other than further income confiscation is not done! Please stop demagogging the issue and using it as a political football. SS is for those whom were too lazy or stupid to save on their own. Something my parents taught me. I guess yours taught you to rely on the Government to provide you with everything. You don't work, you don't eat.

  • YOU are a damn liar! You play a clip of what McCain says and repeat something completely different! What McCain says is absolute truth with regard to Social Security. You Baby Boomer Bastards think of NO ONE but yourselves... You care only about making sure that no on cuts YOUR BENEFITS, even if it means sacrificing your own children and grandchildren. Social Security is a Boon, but only to Baby Boomers. To Gen X,Y and those that follow, it is a pyramid scheme... and we lose!

  • etc.)and borrow money from China, Japan, Russia. If we had left every dime paid into SS to have earned the interest, it was suppose to have done, there wouldn't be a problem now. Those are the facts.

  • He acts like he's informing us of a sysem we all know how social security works. He thinks he's talking to the young people as if we have no compassion. The answer to ss is not privatizing that's what bush wanted to. People managed their own 401k's and look what happened, they took money out, and have nothing but ss to live on. They can not and will not take social security from us!

  • TPMtv has it all wrong. McCain knows what hes doing, why cant he change his mind after four years of obtaining more information on the subject? What is wrong with his idea of having the government (both parties) fix SS? And no he was not disgracing the program of Social Security and all those who participated in the initiation of it, (but TPM makes it look like this). He was saying it is an absolute disgrace thatyounger americans will not be reimbursed in the future, as retirees are being now.

  • The only reason young retirees won't be reimbursed is because the GOP has used SS as their own personal bank account. They have fleeced American workers by saying they are holding down taxes, all the while borrowing money from SS, other countries, etc. That is the slight of hand they have been playing since WWI.

  • I appreciate your fire, but you must have meant WWII (as in 2).

Otherwise, you don't know what you're talking about.

  • I wrote:"The only reason young retirees won't be reimbursed is because the GOP has used SS as their own personal bank account. They have fleeced American workers by saying they are holding down taxes, all the while borrowing money from SS, other countries, etc. That is the slight of hand they have been playing since WWI." Meant to type WWII.

  • It is simply stealing from those who have paid their taxes for the longest time. Grey vote please note.

  • McCain will make the rich richer and poor poorer! He supports big business even more than Bush!

  • Get some attractive female reporters.. I agree with this guy and I'm already sick of looking at him after 0:24

  • oh cry more - go watch some pron if it bothers you that much.. yeesh.

  • When McCant says "time for straight talk" it is proceeded by fear mongering

Whenhe calls you his "Friend" it is proceeded by lies

  • Furthermore, the only reason SS has worked in the past was that the population was always increasing therefore there were always more workers than retirees. The baby boomer lump of the population throws a monkey wrench into this machine that the original creators of SS never anticipated.

  • I'm an Obama supporter but McCain's comments were justified. He didn't say SS was a disgrace. He said that a system of using current payments in to match current payments out (meaning money that earns no investment income) is bound to break and he is right. All it takes is more payees than payors and the system breaks. Simple math there. Anyone who doesn't see the folly in this has no financial sense. You have to take payments in, grow the money, and then use that money for pay outs.

  • This is absolutely correct. The ratios have changed drastically since when the program was installed and is currently not sustainable. He is right -- it *is* a disgrace, just as this silly serious reportage is.

  • LOL, that was dumb as hell. Isn't he old enough to be a retiree?

  • Privatization is just a Nice word for

    corporate control -

  • Obamas not president yet he had to vote on it. It was going to get passed. Obama is in a pickle. He doesn't vote for it and everyone bitches because Iran is shooting off toy rockets. If he votes for it everyone bitches because it is a disgrace of the constitution.

Obama should have been smart and pretend he was not able to vote like McCain did.

  • i cant stand dogs making speaches to please other white dogs to get richer, this moron should be tossed in a camp with retards

  • LOL.

    Democrat, Republican, whats the difference?

They are both part of the Zionist Corporatist Party, it just depends what kind of gloss you want to have on it.

Nancy Pelosi doesn't represent America. John McCain doesnt represent America, they represent Israel and corporate interests and its time for people to wake up to this reality.

For gods sake people, our country is about to attack Iran and potentially spark WW3, based on a perceived threat from a paranoid Israel.

  • It's a disgrace that he is minted in his old age and he wants to take it away from other seniors.

  • Yes, Obama's betrayal on FISA -- now that's real news. And voters have recourse in a viable third party this year -- Bob Barr, Libertarian for President.

  • put back the money congress has taken from social security over the last 30 years...

  • Feingold the man most democrats trust has assured Obama will fix FISA in 09. Feingold is honrable.

  • Well done.

  • Clean presentation and I agree with what you're saying. The MYTH that social security is permanently broken is based on the delusion that the baby boomer generation will live to be 250 years old. The plain truth is that 100% of these people will be dead within 50 years. MOST of them will be dead within 30 years, ending the imbalance between those funding and those receiving benefits.

The system is not broken, the "baby boomer crisis" is TEMPORARY.

  • it is a disgrace, simply because the present day americans who are not senior citizens will not be able to draw any funding from social security. im pro obama, and i think "its obvious" that josh marshall is just trying to bring down mccain any way he can by "obviously" distorting the truth. cough cough.

  • Obama is by FAR the better candidate.........If for no other reason than that he can Spell all the BIG words in

    Yes We Can!

    GOTTA LOVE IT!

  • get rid of the green background please.

  • @iamnoturbuddyguy

Yeah sure, I understand that I am being harsh on Obama for fucking us over on FISA. Using his charm and grace to lull all of his supporters into a comatose state by believing him when he promised us hope. Charming us to the point to where we sent in whatever we could to get him through the primary.. I may be alittle harsh referring to him as the Anti-Christ. However, I don't give a fuck about Obama, if he does not give a fuck about my 4th Amendment. He can kiss my ass!

  • SS will not start losing money until 2044 or so, and only if no change is made. It will remain solvent for almost ever if the tax cap is eliminated so that people earning more than $250,000 will pay into the system.

  • MJ200 - "If you vote for Obama, you wan't this country to get fucked up."

Yeah, you might see gasoline triple in price, or have terrorists attack us and kill thousands or he might start two wars, one based on lies..the national debt will skyrocket, jobs will go overseas, the country might become divided on ideological grounds, why, why he might even invoke unitary executive privilege and suspend habeus corpus,...oh, wait...

  • Vote for McCain, not Obama. What change is Obama talking about, huh, huh? Don't vote for him. He is the most liberal member of the entire senate. His score was 95.5% in 2007. Hillary Clinton's was only 82.8%. Harry Reid's was 89.2%. If you vote for Obama, you wan't this country to get fucked up.

  • Your argument is unconvincing.

  • And being liberal is soooo bad isn't it? Yeah we need more conservatism to get us out of this mess. More war. More right wing Christians dictating their morality to us. Fucking idiots.

  • Whether you call it "privatization" or not, He is saying that we should give the government our money and THEY will open an account in OUR names until it's time to collect.

    1. I can do that myself, thank you.

    2. Why the hell wasn't that done under the current system?

    3. I don't trust you people.

    4. Stop trying to take my money and run my life!

  • Republicans love to say that the government is running their life when they are taxed but they don't use the same logic when they see Republicans try to spy on them or discriminate against 10% of the population. Such hypocrisy.

  • McCain is making the point that the SS system should have work out where the newer gen should have been paying for their own funds when they hit 60, but the system hads not work out that way and now the newer gen has to cover the cost for the older gen. but still it's going bankrupty anyway. Redo the system again or offer something better like pravite accounts. McCain using different words to different crowds to get the point across is nothing new that Obama, Clinton, or Bush haven done before.

  • people need to be threatened w/ starvation to work. Social Security is a safety net that gives people confidence to just screw around rather than work hard and contribute to society. That's why corporations don't like it, it makes their labor pool lazy.

  • So all the retirees who have worked their entire life don't deserve to retire? They should work forever? To the point where 70 year olds are competiting with 18 year olds for the same jobs? You're a fucking idiot

  • people over 70 have nothing to contribute to America beyond the value of their bank accounts.

  • Veracifier, the biggest disgrace of the week was Obama's vote for the unconstitutional FISA bill. Do you recall that he (presumably) won the Democratic nomination promising to filibuster the bill? THAT is an absolute disgrace!

The fact that McCain is no better is a poor endorsement. I call 'em like I see 'em. How about you? Are you a mere partisan like Fox News? Where is the outrage over Obama's betrayal? Why are you not demanding that the super-delegates to switch back to Hillary?

  • THANKS FOR POSTING THIS! Social Security = taxing current workers to pay benefits to retired persons. That we should all know already. McCain calls this a disgrace? Just get the word out that this guy is against Social Security and he will be toast in November.

  • MacCane is apparently using those shoes you wear to the beach....flip-flops.

  • Congress has bankrupt the whole country, they have diverted money out of pensions, disability, worker's compensation, transportation funds, vet funds, education, hospitals, medicare, home land security, social security. We need a million man march and throw all the bums out of office! Revolution is needed!

  • You are sooo correct!!

  • Anybody who uses the phrase "straight talk" is full of shit.

  • I am pushing 61. If I had been allowed to invest the money that I and my employers have paid in, ostensibly for Social Security, I would be set for life. As it is, I cannot count on it being worth much at all. Virtual default, perhaps through means-testing or hyper-inflation, is inevitable. Don't take my word for it. Google for "David Walker Social Security." Walker retired as the nation's top auditor so that he can spread the alarm. Don't shoot the messenger.

  • It would be really interesting to hear you say that if you were invested in Enron.Or how about Bear Stearns.

  • Hahaha. Give me a little more credit than that. I was never tempted by ENE, and I shorted Bear Stearns.

  • Well your a regular Warren Buffet aren't you.Who's going to bail out all the people who put their money in high risk investments and lose. The government may end up spending billions extra in bailing them out or having to start new social programs to help those who go belly up.

  • Who's going to bail out the people who put their money in high risk investments and lost? If I had my way, only those who wanted to. It was called "charity." Before the government was so deep into everyone's pockets, it was very popular. Those who accepted welfare from the state were "on the dole" and the subject of scorn.

I feel like an alien in the country my 4 x great grandfathers fought the Red Coats over.

  • I agree that McCain is a disgrace, but he is dead-on correct about Social Security being a disgrace. It was inter-generational theft from the start. It's only because of the baby boom that the Ponzi scheme has held up this long.

It is certainly not "pay as you go." The government spends the money on whatever it pleases, then writes IOU's to itself. It's a big scam that was satirized beautifully in Heller's Catch 22 with Milo Minderbinder's Mart - "and everyone has a share."

  • I have come to the conclusion that (HE) is Obama. Or Obama is (HE). Take that any way you would like to suit your spiritual intellect. Absolute chaos and destruction awaits us. We can't escape it my beloved American Countrymen. I pray for all of you and your families.. May the Lord have mercy on each and every one of us.. Keep a copy of the Lords Prayer in your pocket at all times from this point forward..

  • Normally I respect other people but you are a fucking tool.

So Obama is the .... ANTI-CHRIST ? *gasp* I'm confused, how can Obama be the Anti-Christ and George W Bush isn't ? Dont bother quoting revelations, I read it and it was boring.

Please don't pray for me or even think about my family, keep all those prayers for yourself.

You should wake the fuck up and stop being such a typical (THING) thumper.

  • @iamnoturbuddyguy

You have been offended, but I offer no apologies. This is because any person, Representative or Senator, who votes in favor of a law, a set of laws, or perhaps legislation which amounts to the removal of your 4th Amendment, promised to you by your Constitution, is either the Anti-Christ, or part of the Anti-Christ system. This means, they pave the way and get things setup for the Anti-Christ's rule. Which starts in 2012.

So now you connect the dots genius!

  • Ok fair enough on Fisa....but is McCain any better? Anyone who is going to cut their nose off to spite their face is an idiot. Vote third party or don't vote but a vote for McCain because you are upset about Fisa when under the Republicans we have had more domestic spying and less civil liberties. Come on now.

  • That is simply untrue, such a politician who subverts the Constitution and bill of rights is simply an immoral, unconstitutional politician. Recognizing this does not require a loony myth about magical satanic/christian creatures.

  • Speaking as a former Obama supporter.

No we can't vote for McCain. Obama has proven to be a very dangerous selection for us as well, based on his FISA betrayal. Of course however, OBAMA will win this election by design. Its meant to be. Once this happens, using his talents for Constitutional Law, while concealed behind the veil of a Black Man, watch him make Bush look like an adolescent in regards to Constitutional destruction and war. Check Mate.

  • Who is "we" in "we have mortgaged" the future for young people - IT WAS the Republican Congress that passed tax cuts FOR THE RICH WHILE RAIDING THE SOCIAL SECURITY SURPLUS.

Bush and the Republican Congress have raided the S.S. surplus to pay for the war in Iraq as well.

  • So typical of anyone who lies like McCain does so often. Once they lie they cannot remember their story because it was never true so then they back peddle and try lying some more, and get deeper and deeper with bullshit. McCain and his flip flop crooked talk express has got to go. The guy will say or do whatever he thinks people want to hear just to stay supping at the public trough. You would have to be braindead to vote for this stooge, good god!!

  • Did I miss something Veracifier? No scathing report on Obama's fisa vote?

  • Lesser of evils, man.

The Rethuglicans have screwed up the last 7 years. Why let another Rethuglican president screw up ANOTHER 8 YEARS???

  • nice green screen buddy. wtf is up with that. Too lazy to put ANY kind of background behind you?

    POLITICS MAAAAN YAY!

  • if someone wants to get rid off a 80 year old program, that have worked, then thats kind of scary. If all of our taxes would be used in programs like this, none of us would be complaining about paying taxes.

  • OUT OF TOUCH! McCain and Phil Gramm are the national spokespersons for the Millionaire Wives Club! FIRE PHIL GRAMM! FIRE PHIL GRAMM!

  • Social Security was DESIGNED for younger folks to pay now for retirees now, because the money became available almost immediately--there was nothing in the "fund" in 1937.Printing money was not if fashion-yet.

McCain's 71, he's pre empting criticism being on the dole while President, which he's senior enough to do.

This isn't hard. Young workers, keep the guarenteed print-the-money benefits, phase in 25% that account in a personal saving account.

    Another 401K plan.

  • Y'know, I keep waiting to see somebody do a green-screen challenge off of these videos... They're clearly designed for it.

  • Give Social Security to the rich, you ignorant Repug Bastards have taken everything else and given it to the rich.

  • Excellent points. Thanks. I too thought at first that McCain had simply misspoke, but then I realized that such an attack against the social security as it has operated for its entire 80 year history could only be deliberate. It is outrageous and shows his deep hatred for all American workers both young and old.
