Yeah it's a sub kick, basically a weird shaped microphone made for bringing out the low end frequencies..

So basically they have a rock band that makes hip-hip, so that sub kick will give the drummer that super low bass drum sound heard in most hip-hop or rap songs, instead of a more high pitched rock'n'roll bass drum sound..

Sub kicks are cool, for bob marley week questlove had a rasta colored subkick, looked so awesome!
