If you allow me to me a suggestion. Try not to interrupt the run until you strike the ball. When you get near it, bend your leg as close to your butt as you can and then lean foward moments before the shot. Try to make a "dry" impact on the ball.

Once you master it, try to elevate your body with the shooting foot and place the support leg right on the ball's side before kicking it.

The secret is to generate power with the natural body motion.

All goalkeepers are normally good at overheads, headers etc though, because we're used to moving our bodies in the air.

But again, I know many people that could score like this. Guy on my team could hit the crossbar nearly everytime from the halfway line in the crossbar challenge

Ronaldo runs straight at ball, gets his body more forward and hits it as hard as he can right on the valve of the ball, which is what makes it go side to side.

This is approached from the side David Beckham style, but you just make contact with the ball slight different. Do what I said above and you will get far more power.
