i think the whole method has a bit of truth in it, the "power" to transform the information from the other senses in a visual image in your mind, thus creating an "illusion" of seeing is possible, and can be learned through half an hour of hypnosis. :)

Its like the sugar pill, they gave ill patients a empty pill and they told them is will make you get better. Almost all of them said they experienced major improvement. Again its all in there head, same as this. The power of believing, if you believe they are helping you, you will always see improvement even if there not doing anything at all, but counting all the 100 s in there office and planning there next visit to the Bahamas.

I've seen a documentary once there was a blind guy but he could see with his ears and avoid objects like barrels or poles on the street without touching them. By hearing background sounds around him he could know where an object is cause it blocks the sounds from the background into his direction or something like that, also he was really good at it and gifted for hearing so good.
