I too am a huge fan of the rotary engine and have a fc rx7 and an rx8. But if this is the concept for the next one please count me out. Too tall and flat and it lacks the curvy design that mazda has been implementing for the past decade

I have both, a blue rx8 6speed and an rx7 r1 5speed in red. They are both beautful cars with amazing sounding engines when they spin up to redline. The ride and shifting is smoother in the rx8, but the rx7 is still the best ride when it comes to performance and driver enjoyment. It's not just the turbo that makes it funner though, the turbo just adds more to its raw power. If you drive both of them you'll understand their distinct character and feel. Wankel Rotaries will always be my favorite.

Too bad the rx7 is done for. Lets all accept that. I have an 8, wonderful balanced car, good linear acceleration. But all we can do is hope that the 16x can make the promises of better fuel economy as well as give better torque. Many want the rotary back but why would everyday people want it if gas mileage sucks and it doesn't compare to the competition. Only people who buy rotaries are tuners and trackers.

I hear the rx-9 is suposed to have a 1.8L rotary engine, dual clutch, and is supposed to make like 450hp. From what I've heared about it is its gonna be fricken beasty, its too bad its ugly. I think I'll end up doing an engine swap with my rx8 and throw in that engine and clutch and maybe the tranny if it makes much of a difference.
