price is gonna depend on where you live and svreening can be custom made at ACE and home Depo just tell them you need say a 5X4 peace of screening the strongest that have and if possable get the rubber coated will cost more but is stronger and wwont cut your reptile if they rub on it if you have anyone questions pleace PM me
Glass is cheaper, easier to clean and don't fade out over time. UV light will cause the plexiglass to fade. Also plexi also needs to be thicker than its glass equlivent for the same strength.
É silicone mesmo, basta segurar um pouco o vidro que ela já fica meio que presa, mas não fica firme. Algumas horas são necessárias até que se possa mexer no terrário pronto.

too small and a waste of time, when you could get a vivarium that size from the petshop at a fraction of the cost, or second hand for much cheaper, why dont you just build a bigger one out of wood
Well, I believe the rest of the world might be different from where you live. This video is for those who can´t get it on a shop for a low price, my case. These are designed for tarantulas and don´t need to be bigger. The video was not made for lazy people as well, so go to a shop and buy yours. I have about 15 of those here, and every time a need new one, I´ll buid it again even with the pearl of wisdom you shared with me.
im not lazy , i build my own wood vivariums 4 and 6 feet long, im saying of what cost of those materials, it would cost allot less to buy one, somthing that small will only cost £30 here, the glass and everything would cost double that, not lazyness its convenience
nice job, make an aquarium this way too, but, would be nice to see how you would do a lid, and see it with some plants in it, maybe some choices on plants, and such,,, thanks and nice vid...
What for is the masking tape? I mean does it protect the glas against the silicone or what? The next thing is - what were you cutting at the end with a knife? Thanks for help ;)
I cut on the side of the tape, this way the excess of silicone that is on the tape can be separated from the silicone that needs to stay on the glass. If you don´t cut some of the silicone you need will come of as well.
I enjoy projects such as this one. How much would you say this project costs, and how easy is it? And do they make lids for a terrarium this size? I have some baby bearded dragons on the way and I'd like to buy/build them a new enclosure before they hatch!
I live down in Brazil so the price may very a lot. It cost me around US$25,00. I make my own lids, they are made os wood, insect screen and they slide out. I put two plastic runners on the side glasses and the front glass is shorter the the other three, making it possible for the lid to slide out. This way they are completely scape proof.
what do you mean by alcohol? like vodka? could i use a window/glass cleaning product? please send me a private message as i dont go back and check replys on a link to a video. thanks for your time.
I´ll try to find what´s the name of the product in english. But it´s not for drinking. It´s only alcohol and water, no flavor. You can use any non toxic product to clean the glass.
great video what do you have living in your terrarium? you are talented at making terrariums. You should make a video showing what your terrarium looks like now
With the screen on top I can regulate humity by using diferent formats on the lid. More or less screen according to the spiders requirements. I might use a top with screen all across, half the lid or just a small part of it depending on the necessity.
uuummm, the glass can crack when washed with how water, because of the sudden temperature change

Question
Is it cheaper to buy one or to make one or will it depend. I need to build one for my snake.
7Munky 3 years ago
make one all the way!
JaySkuh 3 years ago
its cheaper, yeah
but it may take sometime a long time. and its not always a self made terrarium is as good as a bought one if the person isnt good building things.
mysnakemorgan 3 years ago
its beter if u make it because u can just go to the glass shop & sometimes they have some that they throw away.

The tape prevents the silicone to stick to the glass where is not necessary, and yes that´s a knife.
