To support your literal understanding of the serpent in the Garden of Eden, you must do the same with all the rest of the Word of God. But, you cant support your argument if you do! Why are you cutting it short?
The name "Satan" is mentioned 52 times in the Bible. Satan is called by many names. Am I being a literalist if I say you are choosing only "certain" parts of the bible to make your point? See, there is an important timeline you completely miss trying to "prove" your point. All things must fall together in its place. God said: The former things from that time I declared, And from my mouth they have gone forth, And I proclaim them, Suddenly I have done, and it cometh.
Bravo, I like that. Personally I like to use a cookbook to help me interpret the bible it's so confusing then I just thank god for all of his wonderment and bull shit. :P
The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
That was written thousands of years AFTER Genesis. It's a later interpretation, just like the one Geerup is making. Also, it doesn't reference the Garden. Calling Satan an "ancient serpent" does not equal "the serpent in the Garden was Satan". You can interpret it that way if you want, but you're NOT being a literalist if you do so.
The snake is actually a representation of the ancient serpent creator gods. In the past, when new religions replaced old ones, the deities of the original religions were made into demons. The Christian God replaced the serpent creator, and it changed into a deceiving demon who made man fall in to sin.
Very good. Of course Christians will do eight backflips with a finger on their noses and a bible on their head fabricating some kind of logical fallacy so to convince us heathens that they didn't steal anything from the book of a religion that, to them, is not a real religion...
It almost lends one to believe that all these Crazy Stories® originate from the same primitive attempts to explain important questions about existence and reality through simple stories and intentionality..
Quit funny shit, ha? Thanks.

Then why did god punish all snakes for all time if it was not a snake?

I often wonder if they believe that Revelations will happen just like it said.
Trumpets sounding, a giant wine press, a ho riding an animal, dragons, horses, Jesus plwing through the clouds on a white horse.
Of course, they'll say that most of this happened already.......dang, I didn't see a thing!

Also, when Yahweh punishes the snake in Genesis, it's AS A SNAKE, NOT AS SATAN.
Lucky for you, my solution does away with this problem. Just steal two little surahs out of the Qur'an and you're all set.

satan was hurled to the earth ?? lol i fort Satan was already on the earth.

There are leater account in the bible as well, the thing is that a LITERAL TRANSLATION OF GENESIS [and nothing added] does not say Satan.
We can get stuff from NT as well as Quran to back the Serpent = Satan claim up.
But only if we INTERPET the genesis text. Which was the point of the original vid.
