In the United States theirs a chance the chief on scene would of known what's' in the vehicle. If it's from either talking to the RO or running the plates... we would want to know what's inside before we send a guy out to risk his life for somebody Else's burning property, where there is nothing immediately adjacent and at risk to it.
Not even mentioning that this guy is running a line without a backup man NOT ON AIR.
Putting the fire out isn't going to stop anything else from exploding.

.....in real life, fireman enter homes to put out fires that are involved throughout the house and the water they use to put it out finishes off what the fire didnt. The fireman are gonna put out a car fire when the vehicle is on a public street. Nobody is gonna cause a traffic jam because they are too scared to place themsleves in danger. Of course its a write off but you gotta let the traffic flow, mate.
..........oh, and it caused a helluva traffic jam stretching dozens of kilometers because we couldnt get a hold of you to ask if its safe....we were a little scared i must say and the stress of it all kinda caused my men to rush off to their families. They will require some counselling of course and maybe book some time off to reflect on what they witnessed...a fire! Poor fellas.
