yeah, the wiiclips are definitely hit or miss... my first one didn't work when I put the drive in place, but if the system was apart it worked fine... I got a second one to work just fine with no problem
Yes. But my soldering probably sucks worse. My wii clip is working great for me so far though, as it probably does for most people. And if it craps out on me someday I'll deal with it then.
I fixed my problem about a month ago. All I had to do was unsolder the clk connection on the clip with some desoldering wick, and then run the supplied wire (came with the wii-clip) from the J point on the d2pro over to the suggested J point on the board. If you look on the wii-clip website it shows you where, as well as all the wire tutorials out there. Now the wii seems to work perfectly, except now & then I will eject a disc and it won't accept another one until I reboot. I can live w/that.
Ive done 5 or 6 with d2pro 9 wire - all ok. Did one today and has same problem as in this video. I tried another d2pro chip and still have same problem. Checked my wiring over and over, can't work out why this is happening.
the clip is no good...remove the clip and install the chip using the wire method. The firmware is perfect. I had a problem like that and I removed the clip and solder the chip instead and she boots perfect.
The chip does work once the disc has inched its way in. And as long as I always leave a disc in when I power down, it doesn't inch again when it is turned on. So I can fire it up, eject the disc, stick another disc in and everything works fine (although it takes a while for the disc to be recognized). The latest 2.3 firmware would probably fix this for me, but I may try wiring the J point first to see if that helps.

to fix this problem, the only way on a wii clip d2pro is to solder 1 wire from the j point of the chip to the j point of the motherboard

Damn, I've a console with serial LEH234xxxx and my chip is d2pro 2.3 (1.6), the chip is soldered but I've the same problem.
If I detach the pin j the wii stop inching and it's able to read original games.
I think there is a new protection ?
Is there an alternate point j ?
Thanks

But yes, a wired install will always be better.
