I think that this interview was originally intended just for radio, so the mic placement as in the moment and not about the look. Yes, lapel mics(lav's) are best but that takes a little time to set-up, can affect how the interview's pacing starts, and takes some spontonaety away.

I had no idea Malkovich was so 'present' in the way he lives his life. Ironically the interviewer's last question was asking if Mr. Malkovich lived in the present! Malkovich was speaking from a 50,000 ft aerial view, very zen. BTW - If you have never seen his performance in 'Dangerous Liaisons", I highly recommend this movie if you want to experience an artist sowing his craft.
There is no other actor alive that scares me more then Malkovich. During interviews it always seems as if he's trying to hold back his dark side. He seems ready to lash out at any time.

She nags at "Wiz" every day, and her mother (who is never seen) is apparently just as bad to him. Occasionally though, she looks to him for romance that he is hesitant to offer her. Her cooking is very bad, and she heads the women's liberation front in Id.
John is a wonderful human and this was a good interview showing his acute awarness and sensitivity to life. Poor Jian...his arm was falling off. What, is CBC so poor they couldn't afford 2 clip-on mic's?

I think that this interview was originally intended just for radio, so the mic placement as in the moment and not about the look. Yes, lapel mics(lav's) are best but that takes a little time to set-up, can affect how the interview's pacing starts, and takes some spontonaety away.

I Agree, His Performance in "Of Mice and Men" is unforgetable. He really is a good actor and his performace in that movie is underrated. "Of Mice and Men" is one of my favourite movies as It is a good story and it is reasonably close to the book written by John Steinbeck.

I had no idea Malkovich was so 'present' in the way he lives his life. Ironically the interviewer's last question was asking if Mr. Malkovich lived in the present! Malkovich was speaking from a 50,000 ft aerial view, very zen. BTW - If you have never seen his performance in 'Dangerous Liaisons", I highly recommend this movie if you want to experience an artist sowing his craft.

There is no other actor alive that scares me more then Malkovich. During interviews it always seems as if he's trying to hold back his dark side. He seems ready to lash out at any time.
