I have a pair of them that i use for mids and highs amps now and they do rated power. they're rated at 500RMS. 80ampsx12volts=960RMS take into consideration amplifier efficiency and it can more than make 500RMS. I think i am gonna try to get a meter to check how much power it makes. BTW mine is going on 8 years old and has been used in 4 cars. install is everything. I see the terminals melted sure case of bad grounding or slack power wire on the amp.
I under stand that my sony Xplod's arent 1200 peak but still they are powerful fuckers and i believe handsdown better than rocksford fosgate. I guess it just depends which china its built in. but no doubt I have pushed my xplod subs wayy past their rated wattage and still hasnt come close to blowing. good durrable speaker by sony

Idk how you can get mad about something being made in another country. Almost all electronics are made in china...On topic of budget subs I agree there are ALOT better options but I've never seen a big online forum ever reccomend any fosgate subs. Honestly if a guy posts "help with budget woofers" most guys that reply will say get a DIYMA ref, Dayton HO, JL W3 or save up a little extra for something like an FI Q, SA 12, ID Q because if not you'll honestly just be wasting your money.
All products built in China are not bad tho.. For instance, you bring up the SA-12. That is 100% made in China but a GREAT woofer. Alpine, made in China, and yet their entry level stuff seems more legit,
12-14 years ago I loved the RF woofers and amps (most their amps are still top notch today). But what happened to things like the Punch Power DVC sub, or the Team RF woofer. These where the best woofers ever produced and not no matter what model its more show then go unfortunately.

Well I wasn't driving 12-14 years ago so I can't comment on that, but there newer stuff is a let down, I mean in the right set up I'm sure they can shine. The point of the video is how RF boasts the woofer up with plastic cover (you cant even call it a magnet boot tbh because every magnet boot is fits around the ferrite slugs not hides the entire motor).
I guess you dont understand the price point of the woofer and compared to a few other woofers in the same price range with simular or greater specs.

the type x also steps up to a 3inch coil too, its a smaller 3 inch coil (just because a woofer says 3 inch coil dont mean its dead nuts on 3 inches, sometimes they are like 3.25 or 2.86 but still classified as a 3inch coil. Just depends on brand/model). but if you cant get the type x for a good price your better off with something like sundown, fi, aa, dc, dd, ia, etc...
also the type r > kicker l7 all day every day! LOL

@Infuse16 its a piece of plastic with that has molded grooves to fit tight around the magnet, it is a lot of strength needed to pry them off. When I tried to put it back on later on it was impossible to do even with me standing on top of it, and my fat ass bent the basket.
The Rockford warranty is very simular to the Alpine warranty, and build quality? Its built in china like all lower end Rockford, unless you go to the power line (same with Alpine).

@crashnburnxvx They're old but I love them. I don't regard newer Fosgate stuff as actual Rockford Fosgate at all. They have taken a turn for the worse and the P3's etc is not how I see them. Their pride used to be in there products, but now it seems their pride is in there profits and shortcuts. Respect for the new (proper) stuff.

I have the 2000rms Team Rockford and 15" Power dvc and there's no mistaking the magnets on them but I agree with you, they are clearly making out there new subs are better than they actually are! It seems they are taking advantage of our trust we have for them, purely because they can, not to mention much bigger profits by saving on qualtiy materials of which the customer should receive instead of illusionary products.

@haz939 Car audio subwoofers have no reason to be shield since they are not placed next to CRT tube televisions. Hell all tvs made today are lcd, led, plasma, so either way shielded or not the tv would not be effected.
Besides, shielded speakers have metal shields not a hard rubber/plastic which does not block the magnet. :D
lol i feel the same way about Shelf Stereo Systems.....they are Flashy and boast High power ratings.....for example my sony 530 Watt Stereo Consumes 270 Watts of Power and in actuality put outs 80 Watts into 5 Channels.

I wouldnt expect much from a $75 dollar woofer. People need to do the research before they buy a product. I would say the P3 is a nice entry level sub but for about the same price you can get a SA-10 or 12.
I bought what was advertised as a true 4 gauge wire kit from Power Acoustik and I came to find out that the copper inside the wire was equivalent to 8 guage wire and had extra thickness for a plastic jacket to make it appear as thick as "true 4 guage wire".
I was admittedly told that the company that produced their products was being cheap and indeed it wasn't "up to quality" long story short, they said they didn't have a need to refund me or give me something that was more "up to quality"
@Bran20022 you get that a lot... many companies lie about their power wire size. They claim it as 1 size, but just give it that said size rubber jacket and very little wire.
Db link, Qpower, hooker, Quantum, installbay are some great companies for doing this.

Your paying a higher premium for this woofer when other manufactures out do the p1 performance by far, and spend a lot less. However people see a big magnet and think its better, when in fact, its just a piece of plastic over a tiny magnet giving you false intentions.

But on the other side your looking at the punch series too that's like one of their cheapest subs they do have better ones but for a rediculous price. Their t2's are like 400 dollars plus tax and for like an extra hundred bucks I bought one of The btl's much better sub for the money you pay :)

oh and i would never use a sony amp to run my main subs. i had one when i started out and it was shite and i had a sony headunit lol oh man i couldnt do anything to control my amps, pioneer has everything i need to control everything. it took ages to track down my alpine amps. heard alot about the ones i bought before i bought them and they are living up to what i hoped. my car shakes to shit and i love my kicker subs and alpine amps.
a bigger magnet is always better. they absorb heat. in my experience any sub that's had a little magnet always gets heated up real quick and then you know its only a short time till it blows. if you under power a sub it don't heat the magnet up it just smells of burning and the coil gets hot and burns up.
@reaperxofsouls1 what a dumb ass comment, magnets are just used to create a magnetic field around the voice coil, has nothing to do with power handling at all. I know that kicker subs and a lot others are overated as having small voice coils and high rated power handling beyond what it can take.

As for your theory on magnet size, you are so wrong! the magnet has nothing to do with power handling.
There are neo magnets on todays market that are 1/4th the size of regular ferrite magnets and are much stronger then a ferrite magnet. These neo woofers also handle more power, and get louder then traditional ferrite magnet woofers..

CEA-2006 compliant amplifiers mean your getting a amp that does its actual rms power, which is good.
BUT... Lets put the facts on the table.
CEA-2006 is just that, an out dated scale to judge amplifiers from. This compliance test has not been updated in 5 years.
The amps are tested with a dummy impedance load (that has no impedance rise, unlike a subwoofer with a variable never constant impedance when the woofer moves) .
CEA-2006 testing is done at a constant 14.4volts. Most vehicles out there dont hold a consistent charge 1t 14.4 volts when the stereo is turned up all the way. Hell most vehicles dont even hold that voltage with out the stereo on!! Now if you have Nice AGM Batteries, a high output alternator, sure you may have solid voltage (but over half the audio fanatics out there dont). So with that voltage drop factored in, your never going to get rated power!
Now once you factor in Impedance rise, plus voltage drop your CEA Compliant amplifier is doing no where near its rated power!!!
Not to mention that companies have to pay for this said CEA compliant testing, in return that testing cost is passed onto you the customer, so now your paying more for a amp.
There are many companies out there that are not tested by CEA and do well over rated power (at a lower voltage even)!

What do you expect a woofer rated at 150rms to have for a voice coil? thats a good sized coil and magnet for only being able to handle 150rms. Now why does it cost so much? it's all in the name. you can buy a Dirt bike helmet from fox made out of fiberglass in china for $500+. or you could buy one out of Carbon fiber and kevlar from Cyber in america for $249 (like i did). Its sad, but %70 of a products value is determined by who makes it and how many middle men are involved in getting it to you.

Yea I got these 2 jl audio 10 w0 subs, and they hit 178DB because each speaker is rated at a 89db rating. Which is nothing more then the speaker being tested with 1 watt with a microphone that is not a termlab and is sitting 1 meter away from the driver.. But most dont understand that ;)

The point of the video is how RF boasts the woofer up with plastic cover (you cant even call it a magnet boot tbh because every magnet boot is fits around the ferrite slugs not hides the entire motor).
I guess you dont understand the price point of the woofer and compared to a few other woofers in the same price range with simular or greater specs.

the type x also steps up to a 3inch coil too, its a smaller 3 inch coil (just because a woofer says 3 inch coil dont mean its dead nuts on 3 inches, sometimes they are like 3.25 or 2.86 but still classified as a 3inch coil. Just depends on brand/model). but if you cant get the type x for a good price your better off with something like sundown, fi, aa, dc, dd, ia, etc...

@Infuse16 its a piece of plastic with that has molded grooves to fit tight around the magnet, it is a lot of strength needed to pry them off. When I tried to put it back on later on it was impossible to do even with me standing on top of it, and my fat ass bent the basket.
The Rockford warranty is very simular to the Alpine warranty, and build quality? Its built in china like all lower end Rockford, unless you go to the power line (same with Alpine).

I have the 2000rms Team Rockford and 15" Power dvc and there's no mistaking the magnets on them but I agree with you, they are clearly making out there new subs are better than they actually are! @haz939 Car audio subwoofers have no reason to be shield since they are not placed next to CRT tube televisions. Hell all tvs made today are lcd, led, plasma, so either way shielded or not the tv would not be effected.
Besides, shielded speakers have metal shields not a hard rubber/plastic which does not block the magnet. :D

I bought what was advertised as a true 4 gauge wire kit from Power Acoustik and I came to find out that the copper inside the wire was equivalent to 8 guage wire and had extra thickness for a plastic jacket to make it appear as thick as "true 4 guage wire".
I was admittedly told that the company that produced their products was being cheap and indeed it wasn't "up to quality" long story short, they said they didn't have a need to refund me or give me something that was more "up to quality"

Db link, Qpower, hooker, Quantum, installbay are some great companies for doing this.

Your paying a higher premium for this woofer when other manufactures out do the p1 performance by far, and spend a lot less. However people see a big magnet and think its better, when in fact, its just a piece of plastic over a tiny magnet giving you false intentions.
And woofers blow due to user error FYI. The woofer only does what you tell it too

oh and i would never use a sony amp to run my main subs. i had one when i started out and it was shite and i had a sony headunit lol oh man i couldnt do anything to control my amps, pioneer has everything i need to control everything. it took ages to track down my alpine amps. heard alot about the ones i bought before i bought them and they are living up to what i hoped. my car shakes to shit and i love my kicker subs and alpine amps.

a bigger magnet is always better. they absorb heat. in my experience any sub that's had a little magnet always gets heated up real quick and then you know its only a short time till it blows. if you under power a sub it don't heat the magnet up it just smells of burning and the coil gets hot and burns up.

As for your theory on magnet size, you are so wrong! the magnet has nothing to do with power handling.
There are neo magnets on todays market that are 1/4th the size of regular ferrite magnets and are much stronger then a ferrite magnet. These neo woofers also handle more power, and get louder then traditional ferrite magnet woofers..

CEA-2006 compliant amplifiers mean your getting a amp that does its actual rms power, which is good.
BUT... Lets put the facts on the table.
CEA-2006 is just that, an out dated scale to judge amplifiers from. This compliance test has not been updated in 5 years.
The amps are tested with a dummy impedance load (that has no impedance rise, unlike a subwoofer with a variable never constant impedance when the woofer moves) .

Going a step farther...
CEA-2006 testing is done at a constant 14.4volts. Most vehicles out there dont hold a consistent charge 1t 14.4 volts when the stereo is turned up all the way. Hell most vehicles dont even hold that voltage with out the stereo on!! Now if you have Nice AGM Batteries, a high output alternator, sure you may have solid voltage (but over half the audio fanatics out there dont). So with that voltage drop factored in, your never going to get rated power!

Not to mention that companies have to pay for this said CEA compliant testing, in return that testing cost is passed onto you the customer, so now your paying more for a amp.
There are many companies out there that are not tested by CEA and do well over rated power (at a lower voltage even)!

The P1 is online everywhere for $65.00, which is about right for any entry level 150rms subwoofer. Yes, they are made cheap, but also cost cheap if you search somewhere other than the rockfordfosgate website.

I'm not dissing you man but P1s are entry level as some others have said, if it handles less Watts rms you need less of an amp to push it so it's overall cheaper, I'm sure you know that though, I'm not calling you ignorant. My guess is that the magnet boot is to make it more attractive for inverted mounting, RF trim rings can be used when they're inverted too which I like personally, I wish more companies did that. the P1 is a piece of shit. but you cant say rockford is lying. go on their website and look at the subs. click on whichever you wanna see, and it gives you a picture where you see inside the inside of it. and in that picture, you can see the size of the VC and magnet and such. the p1 is portrayed as poorly as it actually is. after looking at the P1, look at the P3, T1 and T2, and you'll see where rockford gets its name.

What do you expect a woofer rated at 150rms to have for a voice coil? thats a good sized coil and magnet for only being able to handle 150rms. Now why does it cost so much? it's all in the name. you can buy a Dirt bike helmet from fox made out of fiberglass in china for $500+. or you could buy one out of Carbon fiber and kevlar from Cyber in america for $249 (like i did). Its sad, but %70 of a products value is determined by who makes it and how many middle men are involved in getting it to you.

Yea i had 4 p210's and all four went bad all at once. Replaced all four twice and eventually sold them.

@RacinJason1971 I had the 10" SDC and I was only running 400w to it and I did a 133.4 DB in my car with the termlab sealed on the dash. It was the best sub that I have owned so far, and I had top brands such as Suckford Fucksgate, DD, American Bass and Kicker.... I will always be an AudioQue Fan!!

Its not so much that some companies are trying to BS their potential customers, but more so lowering the grade of components used, and using simple techniques too fool the amature, novice, noob guys looking for bass.
Sure all of the heavy hitters on Youtube already know whats up with these techniques. But the video is more meant for the guy that thinks his 1200 watt sony amp is king tut!! Trying to educate some that may see the video.

Yea I got these 2 jl audio 10 w0 subs, and they hit 178DB because each speaker is rated at a 89db rating. Which is nothing more then the speaker being tested with 1 watt with a microphone that is not a termlab and is sitting 1 meter away from the driver.. But most dont understand that ;)
