One great actor who proves that all the 'pretty boy' faces in so many of the movies today are exactly that.... pretty faces and nothing else... from Gosling,Wilson and the rest.
Only actor I ever met in person. 1973? He wore thick glasses, said "Im blind as a bat without them" Got on in LA flying to Hawaii Economy class. My friend and I from KC said, "He looks familar? Then THATS LEE MARVIN!" Over Hawaii I tried unsuccessfully to take a photo out the window with a new camera. I asked for his help. He tried to shoot 3 shots. He showed us property he owned as we passed over it. I have no photo of Lee, only 3 shots of plane ceiling that he took! He was a friendly person.
Mr. Lee Marvin is a WWII veteran of Iwo Jima, highly decorated.. Is buried at Arlington Cementary between two Generals. One of his Sargents was Mr. Bob Keeshan more known as Captain Kangaroo.Facts that are not as well known.
Hope when he got to Heaven they tied him to a tree, otherwise he would start wandering and you know where he would be. Love the wandrin star song. RIP.
Marvin was genuine. Very credible. I believed the character (he gave the character substance and vivos). He seemed to bring the other characters to a reality as well. He did take roles just for the money, the role had meaning and he gave it meaning. In life he was genuine too -- an Ex-Marine who started life as a grunt. He earned his way every time. Great hero for our vintage. Role model.
My favorite with Lee Marvin is MONTE WALSH back in 1969. The movie set of Mescal east of Tucson was built just for it. Lee Marvin , Jeanne Moreau , Jack Palance , Mitch Ryan , Jim Davis , director William A. Fraker

Lee Marvin was un hombre Americano con cojones. Today's actors are mostly both communists and faggots.

I actually got to meet Lee Marvin in Cairns, North Queensland in the early eighties.
He was there to do some game fishing. He was a nice fella - he loved coming to Australia to fish.
Great memories...
RIP Lee
