Notes of 'A Lovers Concerto' (The Toys), and hints of Motown, Coopers classic track 'Heartaches Away My Boy', is one of those tracks that had you running to the dance floor and hoping it (the dance floor) was well 'talced', so one could slide in pure poetery! COOP.
My favourite Northern Soul record of all time. She is gorgeous, sings like a nightingale, the arranging, production are masterful. With the right sort of promotion would have been a worldwide hit. Just magic, fills that wooden sprung dance floor everytime it's played. :-))
For those of you browsing the web, this is Northern Soul! It is a phenonemon and if you haven't lived this dream then this track and text may be meaningless to you. For those of you who have lived the dream you will clearly understand and embrace these comments. Chistine Cooper is one of our Princesses and a day never passes without me hearing this. KTF
hi, was wondering if anyone would be able to help me. ive been looking for a northern song now for a long time now but i cant rember who its by. some of the lyrics are
"you be alone in the night with your arms reaching out just to hold me tight
Can you believe this came from the bubblegum masterminds of Kasenetz-Katz and Ritchie Cordell, the ones behind Tommy James' b-gum phase and the 1910 Fruitgum Company? Bigger range than we give them credit for.
My favourite Northern Soul tune of all time, brings me back to those heydays of the Torch and early Blacjpool Mecca. Such a great singer, super looking, she used to date Eddie Holman, lucky blighter ;-))
But this song came out a year before "Stop in the Name of Love" was released. So it can't be the other way around. They couldn't have ripped off a song that hadn't been released yet.
This song sounds a lot like "Stop in the Name of Love" in the verses, but it was released a year before 'Stop! In the Name of Love". I think HDH might have lifted that instrumental riff right before the Supremes sing "Think it over" from this song, it's exactly the same.
Nope, it's other way around.Bernie Lowe, Cameo-Parkway's CEO, was insanely jealous of Berry Gordy's success and tried to create his own Motown in Philadelphia. We believe that they ripped off Motown and Holland-Dozier-Holland.
yup - it's a pressing. (have it on super-k too but the orig is cameo-parkway derivative parkway). still an absolutely classic and one of my very favourites of all time!
Love the sound of this one. It kinda reminds me of "Come See About Me" by The Supremes. But I like it. Great sixties girl pop!

Was issued on Parkway 983 as well as Demo £450 in Manship. Also re-issued (Boot?) on Special K back in the 70's I believe. KTF Dave

@eringobrath1965 This was released in early 1966.
It's also on the Cameo-Parkway retrospective CD set, along with "S.O.S. (Heart's In Distress)".
I don't think this song ever reached the top 100 although I think "S.O.S." barely got into the Top 100 in late 1965.
