At the moment, she sleeps all day whilst we're at work, and is way over-active at night, singing all sorts of songs. And she can never decide whether she wants to be in the room with us, or out running around the whole house.

But as others have said, no they're not blue through and through, the blue refers to the colour of their skin. Their fur is a silvery grey with a sheen on it.

can someone explain to me why all grey breeds are called blue? A friend just got a russian blue and when i asked the breeder he got it from she told me that they are grey but appear blue on photos... The guard hairs on a "Russian Blue" are tipped with white. When light hits the fur it makes the coat simmer and gives the coat a light blue/gray color. The coat of a russian blue is refered to as "fur" rather than hair because it has a double coat.

You also amuse me with your detective ability to be able to tell subtle details of colour from a low-res video taken with a cheap digicam and then further compressed by youtube (have you seen her other videos, where she's really blue as opposed to grey here - shows how distorted the videos can be).

In all fairness this cat didn't look like a Russian Blue to me, either. I am very knowledgeable about the breed and, in fact, own two. It is a VERY cute and pretty cat, but something about the bone structure seems different. Like you said, though, could just be the fact it's a grainy YouTube video.

i also believe this to be a korat, not a russian blue. The foot pads do not appear to be mauve, which russian blues are. Russian blue also has 4 toes on back feet and 5 on front, an easy way to tell.

Oh FFS, how many times do I have to reply with the same thing. She's a Russian Blue. She has a 5 generation geneology certificate which says so, she came from a pedigree Russian Blue breeder. Her parents were Russian Blue show winners.

She also has 5 toes on the front paws and 4 on the back, I know because I clip them personally!

Seriously, what can you tell from a compressed youtube video that I couldn't tell from handling her for months??? She's a pedigree Russian Blue, get over it!

You are absolutely right! Last time I take my cats to my friend's vet. We have 2 blue kittens- both rescue from abuse. One is a korat(9 months old) and the other is a russian blue (4 months old).
