    I am curious.

  • 2:20 what a hottie :D

  • I want a nook. I'll be reading manga and yoi manga on it. which from fans i hear is still good to read on there. i was kinda relucktant to get a e-reader but it will be easier to get stories I wan to read along with also easier access to facebook and twitter :D

  • @cayleepeace SHUT UP! Some people can afford the Color! Don't be mad that you can't!

  • U sound like a robot! I love the nook simple touch cuz the was it feels, e ink, pic, and it's just made 4 reading!!! I pod touch is for games not nooks!!! Don't buy this u r wasting your time, GET THE SIMPLE TOUTCH!!!

  • this ad is super gay, super eighties and kinda...sexy!

  • My friend has one!!!

  • Using a computer all day...sorry for the spelling too tired.

  • Suck!! No e ink??? ITS LCD!!!! I work using a nice imputed all day and come home to relax and read a book on a LCD!! HAA

  • Sigh....fml.

  • THE NOOK COLOR HAS AN APP STORE. but if you got one when they ust came out then you cann bring it to barnes and noble and ask them to upgrade it for you. BUT THEY DO HAVE ONE. i have a nook color and i have like 17 games. Like angry birds and lot of other awesome apps!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I thought these things were for reading! And, wasn't the big deal about the first one that it DIDN"T have a backlight, so people could read for hours? Oh well. I have the first nook and the kindle 3. Love both, but I would've gotten the kindle first.

  • @gospelnews123 Just for reading. Really. That's not fun. The nook color should have an app store.

  • @KJcheer I believe it does have an app store, and also has other features besides reading. Reading is the main purpose though, so if it isn't "fun" why get this device? There are plenty of devices that have apps and games. Besides, the Nook can be rooted to have Android Honeycomb, and can have access to have apps from the Android Market. :)

  • @KJcheer the nook color does have an app store. You have to take it to barnes and noble if you want an orignal model upgraded.

  • can you tell me which is better kindel 3 or nook color : )))) please

  • Crap! Kate's married?

  • hi

  • oh shit

  • @Aislan4414 battery life is around 8 hours so nothing you are going to get with a kindle or the new nook simple touch but for all that it does i guess its fair....

  • How much is this?

  • @Cheerxolove7310 250$ the best tablet out there for the price

  • WARNING : Do not hook this up to your computer it down loud programs that crash your compter. Barnes & Noble has programs that lock onto your computer to get informatiion about you.

  • @TheGrandCapt ya right^_^

  • @Ozxvideoz . It is all so true and all so sad. This is the brain child of the worlds organized groups.

  • @TheGrandCapt WTF is your problem.

  • @Ozxvideoz No problem here. I am just trying to help people. You sound like you are part of this organized crime group. If you are please think of all the families you distroy just to make a dollar.

  • @TheGrandCapt WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Ozxvideoz Listen, I do not want any trouble from you people. Call your goons off.

  • @TheGrandCapt WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DUDE THIS IS STARTING TO BE FUNNY!!

  • @Ozxvideoz Ok, I am sorry. Please call your goons off, I can not live like this. I am always looking out my window because I a, so afriad, I have my girlfriend go out and start my car for me incase it explodes.

  • @TheGrandCapt ok have fun with that

  • WARNING : Do not hook this up to your computer it down loud programs that crash your compter.

  • Gimme a break. Any ereader that doesn't use e-ink is complete crap.

  • @thebookwormdiaries uh huh and thats why it is one of the most selling e-readers....

it has apps music player web browser its a full tablet experience at almost half the price lol get owned^_^

  • @Ozxvideoz

Enjoy your LCD screen, as well as the eye strain it'll give you!

  • @thebookwormdiaries the nook color isn't mainly an e-reader.

you should of said that you rather just have an e-reader than an e-reader/tablet the nook color isn't for a long time of reading i think its more of a little time of reading and multimedia entertainment i understand what you are coming from though and i fully agree but you could of reworded your comment a little bit to let people understand your opinion on the nook color.

  • @Ozxvideoz hello. Everyone is replying to you so..I just decided what the heck I will too. So..Hi :D

  • Actually according to my eye doctor the back light or e-ink doesn't make a difference with your eyes. He said either one is just for preference.

  • Kindle rocks because it's for hardcore readers - Nook is like a wannabee iPad

  • @aa70queen01 not really apple has copied android(what the nook color runs) in many ways for example ios5 is going to have notifications which android has had ever sense release that is just one example there are many please do research and make sure you know what you are talking about. Nook is in no way a wannabe ipad it is a cheap alternative tablet/e-reader that is simple to use and has functions of a tablet such as flash and apps. if you read this at all congratulations you got owned no ofnse

  • @Ozxvideoz Touche!

  • @aa70queen01 WHAT???

  • I have an iPod but I used all the memory on it so I need somwthing new. This seems cool but I need comics and guy magazines. Are they available?

  • @Decklann Comics NO. but guys magazines yea espn, men's health, etc

  • @Decklann yes they very much are available many magazines are i dont know about comics tho but if it was in a pdf you could do that but for the price af the nook color it is a great deal!

  • Whats the thing in the bottom left corner? Is it like a handle or something?

  • @KJcheer it is the place where th micro sd card goes if you have one

  • @Aislan4414 Yes! I agree, I don't really care that the colors are not vivid, and sort of water color, very soothing to look at.

  • is color e-ink not possible?

  • @philipsmog I don' t think so:)

  • If you wan't apps, then root it. It's not that hard.

  • if you want apps then get an ipad....der

  • Is the Nook backlit?

  • @DennisBayazitov yes^_^

  • I love my nook I am on it now tying these words it is greaaaaaatttttttt

  • there's something fishy about this - its all very apple not android i like it - app share FANTASTIC !

  • Kate is fat

  • she's not available.... SHE HAS KIDS THAT WANT TO USE IT!

  • I feel like slapping Kate in the face.

  • This is an ad not hating but the nook sucks

  • @MrAbtastic How???

  • @Ozxvideoz look at the side by side comparisons of the nook and kindle, obviously the kindle is better at everything, i understand the company wanting to tap into the e reader market with their own device but the nook just isn't comparable to the kindle, in fat no e reader can compare to the kindle. But again this is just my 2 cents.

  • at the beginning, she seems so smug that her name is kate

  • I'd fuck her..... and put the video on my nook.

  • also, its funny cuz at the begining of the video she says i just now got my nook color, but she knows everthing about it xD

  • @ownedu736 lol i know

  • he he, its funny cuz the finger using the nook is fake/computer

  • I already have my nook color rooted running android market. I doubt b&n will come up with such an update

  • @survivorevil already have kind of^_^

  • Kindle 3 or nook color

  • @liln44 nook color

  • @liln44 depends on what you want it for.

  • ok can someone help me i stole a nook color and it has a passcode i need to disable it and get to reading stephen king novels

  • @shaboopie12 LOL WTF IS YOUR PROBLEM!!!!

  • can you use it anywhere without having to pay phone companies for 3g etc and able to use it out of wifi areas etc?

  • Oh Kate, those lips!...i wanna suck & lick them.

  • does the come to alive feature work for playboys ... zing!!!

  • does the colored nook comes with the girl?

  • im not sure if i should get this or the pandigital novel 7. but hopefully by time im 20 i can get the entourage edge

  • P4p3r 1z 4 lo0zerz

  • hate the device, coz its neither an awesome tablet nor is it a great ebook reader...but kate's beautiful!

  • damn i shouldn't have bought all those REGULAR PAPER BOUND BOOKS

  • anyone who believes this device is only meant for reading is missing the entire point of the tablet revolution. And it is a revolution, one that has basically killed the need for a netbook and led to over 11 million iPads sold last year. B&N built this on top of a tablet OS for a reason, even if they're being coy about why right now.

  • fuck! I bought a normal nook last summer!

  • @MrPhipper eink is much much easier on the eyes for serious readers - this is just another gadget that detracts from its purpose. If you want an ipad go buy one, this is for reading. Call it vivid or whatever tis lcd and it fucking hurts to read after a while, stick with your original e-ink nook if your serious about reading.

  • @uwmbigb Whatever grandpa, if it hurts to read a back-lit screen you're too old. Or you're holding the damn thing too close to your face. Besides, it never hurts to have multi-tasking functions (you call them distractions) to keep up with the competition. The new Android tablets cost less and still do what the Nook and Kindle can do. They just provide more intelligent choices for discerning persons. There isn't anything wrong with having options. Unless you're a Commie....

  • @metaspherz Dude Im 25 - if I want to read Ill read not surf the fucking web doucher

  • @MrPhipper a normal nook is probably better. This looks like a backlit LCD screen which is killer on the eyes. eInk is much much better for reading text and/or for long periods. The iPad is better for this kind of reading (magazines, cookbooks, etc.) but the eReader/Kindle/whatever eInk reader is better for actually reading books.

  • Eink is rad, but it can't do color. LCD has never bothered my vision, once your 'in' the book you don't even know the difference anyway. Seems like a win to me.

  • @Kajintoz

i agree! I just got one for christmas, and wasnt expecting it. I love books, and at first didnt like it because i thought the screen would bother me. but after downloading my first book, i realized that it wasnt a problem at all and i dont even notice it :)

  • I prefer e-ink, sorry.

  • @chelseababii504 you can downloaded again the book will show up when you put your info in your new device.

  • @zachj589 Good point. I guess those kinds of people are called Apple Fan Boys!

  • Some people just don't get it...e-readers are NOT computers...they're meant to be "read", the iPad bothers your vision if you read for too long, that's what's cool about these gadgets...the iPad is just a slim version of a laptop!!!

  • @gospelnews123 im actually getting annoyed how people are now demanding apps and games for this thing. This is meant for READING!

  • @TheVentusVanitas Agreed!!!

  • @TheVentusVanitas i heard it will be running android so there will be apps and games.

  • @TheVentusVanitas YES! I don't want to do anything on an eReader but read (and purchase books). Period. No games, apps, mp3's, even internet. I just want a good way to read and purchase more books on demand.

  • @TheVentusVanitas and they can just tranfer android to it! muahaha

  • @TheVentusVanitas So, in your opinion, doing a crossword puzzle is out of the question? Or maybe a word search game too? I'm annoyed with people who think technology should be limited to single tasks. Multi-tasking is better. Limited functions (simple reading) usually means these kinds of devices will fail and wind up in the bargain bins since the majority of cheap Android tablets provide additional functions at a competitive price -- eventually making the Nook & other eReaders obsolete.

  • @TheVentusVanitas it's getting an android update I've heard. So it will still most likely be a proprietary book reader, but will still come with all the glory android marketplace has to offer. Plus, because it has the processor that the droid x has, it will be able to run just as good. I mean the interface already is pretty great, so I'm not complaining whether or not it gets the aforementioned update.

  • @TheVentusVanitas The hardware is totally capable to do this, then why not? Apps are very useful like a dictionary or wiki app. Its not designed just for reading, if so, why use a ARM Cortex A8-based TI OMAP3621 processor?

  • @TheVentusVanitas No, look closer at the video... this was made for shopping!

  • @TheVentusVanitas but it has already happened ^_^

  • @TheVentusVanitas dude if its going to have wifi and color than wtf y not have apps i can get a book basicly any wher now if ur going to charge almost 300 y the hell would i pay that money when i can get the same thing for a 100 with out color come on man use ur head

  • @gospelnews123 Yep, the iPad is just a slim version of a laptop....minus USB ports, HDMI ports, a disc drive, a real Operating system, significant storage, noticeable RAM, program installation, flash in web browser, etc. Other than that it's just a regular laptop!...Minus everything that makes a laptop....a laptop.

  • learn the text! stop reading from monitor, its not profesional ffs

  • It's just a poor man's iPad!! Nuff said!

  • @newbalancerun04 Either that, or the smart man's iPad.

Anyone who would pay $500 and up for a device without USB ports and SD slots either has too much money, or too little brains.

  • @zachj589 Or HDMI ports, or a real operating system, or a disc drive, or a fair amount of storage, or flash support, or enough RAM, or being able to install programs. Lol. The iPad is a FAT, overweight, smart-phone.

  • @newbalancerun04

or just the right size? or perhaps we are not all apple worshippers?

  • Kindle > Nook. Period. This is a poor man's iPad. Don't be naive, now.

  • Bolshy yarbles to all apple fanboyz

  • Ok. Thanks for the info you guys provided. And, I will work on my grammar. Cheers!!!

  • what i mean is... does it do anything to make text easier on your eyes?

  • @pjmac88 it has a anti-glare covering beneath the glass, and ppl said in reviews they read 4-8 hours straight no problems

  • how is it not just a tablet

  • I did lots of research ... and checked so many eReader in stores such as Kindle , Kindle DX, Sony ones, and other brands ....

This one is the best specially for those who want to read PDF formats. Reading PDF on Kindle and Sony is a pain in the neck but Nook Color is amazing.

  • Psh im so getting this for my birthday XDA found a way to turn it into a tablet alternative with a market and root acces

  • Kate is hot!!!

  • I could do all this on my ipad. what new do you provide me is what that matters. you do not seem to provide me with something that ipad can't. maybe

  • @mytuberaibman ...ipad can't be purchased for $250....there you go. Also, root this nook color and you've got a perfectly good android tablet that will do most of what iPad can do. Seems like this this "reader" is more than you thought it was.

  • @mytuberaibman you cant put in a 32gb sd card in your ipad, you pay 100 extra bucks

  • @mytuberaibman First of all, your grammar is atrocious. Second, there are various reasons that Nook beats the iPad: Nook is $250 (I'm guessing your iPad was a little more), Nook is actually designed as an eReader (there are some programs for free books from libraries that are not fully-compatible with the iPad, not so with Nook), and most importantly, you don't have to be a pretentious snob to everyone who does not own a Nook, but it comes with the territory for iPad owners.

  • Well, I really like this!! ;D But for iPad, i really wanted to buy one, but when i saw it, i realized it was just like the iPod, JUST LIKE THA iPOD, but's smaller. So after then, i dint get excited, but i got excited ABOUT THA Nook! LOL

  • Reading books in grayscale brings you back to a time when Charlie Chaplin was the Peewee Herman of his era. : )

  • Hi. I'm Kate.

    ROFLMAO

  • The ipad is disapointing not the nook color. And I'm not saying the ipad is bad. If you want a smaller ipad like reader the nook color is great. The decay of all elecectronics is so fast these days, there is always something better and newer coming out. So to say there is going to be a eink color dispay and this will hurt the nook color is just dumb. BN and will obviously have a new nook coming out one day too

  • Comment removed

  • This looks like a quick stab at the tech mom/kid market for the holidays. Its not a bad move at all but I still think they couldve done something more innovative. If the rumors of mirasol/color ink are true for 2011, this could be a disaster as B/N will have no answer unless they undermine their nookcolor and piss people off.

  • I am a 7th grade middle school student. I was wondering if i would be able to download textbooks on to my nook color I am getting for Christmas. Please reply it would be extremely helpful.

  • @SilentNinja1010 I'm not sure if you would be able to download textbooks but since it has wifi and most school textbooks have a site where you can read them online I'm sure you could get them that way.

  • @SilentNinja1010 also if you go to the barnes and nobles website mouse over textbooks and theres a section that says nookstufy I'm sure somewhere under there you might be able to find out the info you looking for.

  • I prefer the old one with 2weeks battery like while everything is turned on! XD

  • Well, it looks cool. But I just can't help but think that it's getting away from the whole 'e-reader' market, and stepping into the territory of tablets. Thus, I don't think it will do very well. People will find that if they just spend a little more money they can get a real tablet computer with more features. E-ink was the Kindle's and Nook's claim to fame because it's easier to read on than an LCD screen. Now it doesn't have one, it's just a cheap Galaxy Tab with less features.

  • One word: iPad.

  • @aloneira91 is shit.

  • Wasn't there supposed to be the first Devices with the Mirasol Displays by Qualcomm to be available by the end of this Year? They're bistable like eInk Panels, but in Color and fast enough to display Videos and all with the Contrast/Readability of current eReaders. Is there going to be a future nook with such a kind of Display?

  • I got some money for my birthday yesterday, (thank you, thank you, I'm 13 ^_^) and I wanted to get one of these VERY badly for awhile. I went to Best buy and played around with one- going on the barnes and noble store on it and looking for Harry Potter. Sadly, I did not find any of th Harry Potter books- only stupid ones such as Harry Potter- Global Business Phenomenon

If you have a nookcolor, I would gladly appreciate it if you looked up Harry Potter on it and tell me if its there or not.

  • @Ghostpelt101 I just looked it up for you. Unfortunately -- it doesn't have Harry Potter! I can't believe it. I was actually all for this, but if it doesn't sell a popular book like Harry Potter, what other books do they not sell???

It's not very cost effective for me to buy one if I find out a lot of the kinds of books I buy (I read a lot of reference books on photography, graphic design, web design, etc...) aren't offered as ebooks.... Very upsetting...

  • @rachelfphotos Just to clarify, The Harry Potter series is not available from the Barnes & Noble ebook store because the publisher has not released the rights for them to made into an ebooks. So you will not find them at B&N, Amazon or any other mainstream ebook retailer . The only way I've seen them available are as torrent PDFs. It appears that Rowling is pulling a "Lucas" and not releasing her works until she and her publisher have further evaluated the ebook format.

  • @rachelfphotos JK Rowling i believe is not into this "eink" revolution and doesn't want her books to be ebooks because she's a big paper bookist. At least thats what i heard.

  • @rachelfphotos Thanks for looking it up for me! :) I got a nookcolor on Wednesday and I'm learning to live without my Harry Potter Books on ebook format- I'll just get the whole paperback set for Christmas- then just watch, they'll be ebooks 2 days later o3o. I was a bit disappointed to find that some of the books I enjoy weren't on there, then again- they're always coming out with cool new ones.

  • @Ghostpelt101 Just buy the book set and download the ebook as a torrent - they are out there! That way you support the author and you can read them on your nook!

  • Hey don't knock this until you play with it at a store. I wrote it off until I picked it up, this device is awesome man.

I can't wait to get one for myself.

  • Just when the world so desperately needed another pointless shit like ipad to appear...

  • I got my nook color yesterday and it is pretty good. The battery life seems ipad comparable! I did heavy web browsing, video and music playback just about 4 + hours and it is still at 70 % battery. So I think reading on low brightness will last at least 8 hours and more.

The nook beats the kindle hands down. I think it should not even be mentioned with the kindle. It is like an ipad without the app store (not yet but coming).

The build quality is impressive for 250$. I got it for newspapers.

  • sooo happy right now! i almost bought the sony reader 950 on Sunday! thank goodness it was sold out! i went to B&N to check out the nook color and was so impressed ! i still have a few questions about its note taking and wifi options though, im going back tomorrow!

  • which is better: this or kindle?

  • @Cayia Kindle

  • why do you need color for a book?

  • @IG40kman Because some books/magazines are in color, lol.

  • So, it's an LCD screen right? So it'll be hard on the eyes - like reading a book off a laptop. Am I off base on this observation?

  • im so mad! i just bought the first nook not too long ago!

guess thats life..i wish i could trade it in...

  • looks great for kids. ipad is bad for kids. they'll just watch crappy tv or movies. this is at least kids' books friendly, but for adults, i'll have to wait and see.

  • guess they found the easy way out, ie: loosing the e-ink.

doesn't that make it just a tablet, not an ebook reader?

  • theres no e-ink? oooook well i might as well read a book on my laptop ......

  • @bubblemuffinxp I've tried to read a book on Laptop, but reading a real book is much better

  • I recommend the Amazon kindle.

  • for my own opinion this is kinda much better than ipad cause ipad looks fragile

  • Oh wow. e-readers are now turning into Ipads.

  • So far this one only comes with Wi-Fi :(

no unlimited 3G like the regular one :(

  • FUCK I JUST BOUGHT A NORMAL NOOK!!!!!!

  • We need text to speech & Flash plug in and it would kill the Kindle and the Ipad!! Even if it would be just on newspapers or classics! Well at least it runs with android!

I bought the old nook for newspapers and stuff and it is a pain! The Nook Color is probably better for that but bad for books!
