I discovered Ralph McTell about 3 months ago and have been enjoying discovering his music. First song of his i ever heard was "Peppers and Tomatoes", here on youtube. I began watching the video and 20 seconds later, i was hooked and then began my mad hunt for every song i could find. LOL!! I now have two of his cd's and will buy more as funds allow me to do so.
@grandplans Everybody will recommend an album to you and Travelling Man is stunning but look out too for "Black Heroes Blue Skies". An album of covers of the old bluesmen who influenced Ralph.
Then of course try to see him live; you'll be speechless.
The same thing happened to me. About 25 years ago when I started to play, I had a problem holding onto the pick and then saw Ralph play without it. He was essentially, albeit unwittingly my among my best teachers ever. Once I met him unexpectedly behind a small venue in Ireland, and although I wanted to thank him for teaching me, all that escaped my lips were "eh, where's the loo...?" I like to think he knew what I meant though. Lovely guitarist, songwriter, singer and human being.
I'm a fan! Great cover.
