  • runrig was formed as a scottish rock group reflecting our nations pride and passion through music the day runrig took on a canadian singer was when runrig stopped representing scotland. in reply to the canadian who answered me earlier i dont care if canada has good celtic singers or not im scottish and your comment saying who cares if the singer isnt scottish now only goes to show that you have no idea what the group runrig was originally about and what they stood for

  • love this song bring back memorys

  • Support the artist !

  • my dad's mate's on the cover of the Loch Lomond Backing singers.

  • my song atm :) love it!! <3

  • This is the most beatyfull music that ever have been made....

    IT NEED MORE VIEWS

Thumps op so every1 can see

  • Once there was a father named Gael and he had some children and grandchildren named Ireland and Scotland and Canada and so on and his Scottish child said you love this new child Canada more than us and the father rightly replied love doesn't divide it multiplies. Yes Donnie Munro can never be replaced but adding something to runrig from Canada has only given you more of it to love.

  • @Macneacail77

May I say, that your comment is a beautiful analogy of most Runrigs fans opinions. Thank you :) Without Bruce . . .there would be No Runrig. . ... A sky without sunshine ??? x

  • i have been to see runrig many times over the years and yes the song above is very good but runrig have never been or sounded like they were since donnie munro was lead singer and left in 97

out of all the singers that were available why the hell they went and got a lead singer from canada with a canadian accent to represent a scottish rock group ill never get or agree with.

  • i have nothing against canada but i grew up in scotland and grew up listening to runrig and loved them madly and went with my dad to see them when i was young and myself when older.but runrig sound like an old washed up country n western group from the usa now.

listen to them pre 1997 compared to now

a scottish rock group with a great scots accent world famous. now we sound like every other usa n canadian country group

  • @arachnologist81 I like Donnie better also but Bruce is wonderful. I think Bruce sounds very good on Celtic songs. Canada is home to some of the best Celtic singers in the world particularly Loreena McKennitt. So what if he is not from Scotland.

  • @TristanandIsolt

so what if the lead singer isnt scottish SERIOUSLY?

runrigs a scottish rock group representing the people of scotlands great pride and passion and spirit what the fcuk does some canadian guy know about that?.

  • beautiful song.

  • lækker sang:)

  • i stood in the worst rain since records began that night. i was an 11 year old girl shetland, my family and family friends had traveled down especially for it and we were not going to turn around and go home without seeing it! it was pretty cold, but as soon as the band came on the stage the cold went. it sounds chessy but i loved it. hope to see them again and not in the rain!

  • Op 6 maart a.s. naar Runrig in Münster... ik heb er zin in :)

  • Runrig is such a great band, no matter who the lead singer is (I like them both).

I think even though I was born in the Netherlands somehow my hearth is also part Scottisch and Irish. You folks know how to make music, you still do.

I've got several Runrig songs on my own repertoire and I'll never live without them!

  • Dunno munrro sings it better

  • i totaly agree his voice is better suited to this kind of song

  • Aye dont be coming on here like a keyboard gangster on my vids with your comments nobody cares about

  • shaddap greenpotmusic as are out of your league..

  • i take it your from england you prick what great bands have came from your shit country fuck all so shut it

  • I do not know how you can assume I come from England apart from the fact that you are not too bright? I was born and live in the West of Scotland, but that does not mean I need to like poor music because the musicians are Scottish, Why can you not write without swearing and being so rude? As for English bands what planet do you live on

Pink Floyd, Yes, ELP, Genesis, Caravan, Beatles, Jethro Tull, you should learn to like music because it is good not because of where it comes from.

    grow up

  • I heard this song today for the first time and I LOVE IT!!!! I'll sing it for my X Factor audition, for sure!!!!! So emotional, so sentimental,... just cant find the perfect words for this song 'cause its just... incredible!!!

  • great no one seems to appreciate the great lyrics if rhey were lennon mcacca they would be richhh

  • you are totally right, but rich doesn't mean happy... and these guys are happy!!! Doing what they love, on their own terms, I admire them for that! And this song, its perfect! :-)

  • Yes. Beeing cool is very over-rated. People are dis-connected today, removed almost completely from REALITY (whatever that is).

  • Geiler Song!!!

  • One of the best song's ever from Runrig :o) And in Danish-En af de bedste sange nogensinde fra Runrig...

  • this reminds me of being there in the pouring rain singing my heart out! i loved it when we (the crowd) carried on singing and all he could do was let us continue =). one of the best days of my life. and this is a beautiful song. =D

  • Capo on first fret.

The chord sequence is Intro: G D Am C times 4.

    The verse is G Em C G G Em C D G Em C G Am C Em D.

The chorus is G D Am C repeat 2 times then:

    G D Em C C G D C

  • Thank you so much for this!!!

As a beginner on guitar it's very hard to find out those chords!

Could you please help me out with "the Ocean Road" as well???

Thanks again fellow-fan, you're really helpful!

  • Comment removed

  • Brilliant

  • God has given Runrig - God gave us Bruce when the road was rocky - God gave us the Islands - God gave us the people who emigrated to Canada - God gave a taste of Canada to our ears - GOD GAVE US BRUCE !!! Ears to hear and eyes to see !!! Balm to our souls x AMEN !!!!!!!

  • love runrig make me want to get on the first plane back home to glasgow the best no one nicer easy going the scots have it all charm know how to have a good time nothing gets us down the best people in the world

  • does any-one know the chords for this version???

    RUNRIG RULE!!!!!

  • Yeah, some chord sequencing would be great and most appreciated.

  • Could someone tell me the chord progression for this? I know its prob really simple, i just cant get it right.

  • I love Runrig and I can not wait to see them at Scone Palace on Aug/2009:)..This song will forever remind me of someone that i carry with me deep within for all the days of my life (Alasdair)this one is for you baby.Everytime I listen to the words and the song all I can see and think of is you and us together:).I love you very much more and more everyday and I can not picture my life without you baby.Thank you for being such a wonderful gentle precious soul and a heart more pure then gold.xxx

  • That is a lovely comment. Alasdair is a lucky man

  • Thank you for your kind words:)I am truly blessed and lucky to have met Alasdair also:).Somtimes in life we all fall a few times before we find that one true our hearts have always wished for and knew one day we would find.I always say never give up hope of finding what it is your heart truly desires it is worth waiting a life time then to be with someone just because you are afraid of being alone:).((((((DiefortheClan))))) take care :).

  • I like this mix of Live Version and Acoustic ;)

  • I love this song, and Bruces voice.... its amacing !!<3

  • I love this song...reminds me of some good times that should never have ended..

  • Even I'm not Scottish I do like RUNRIG and I listen to all their songs.Besides THE GREATEST FLAME and LOCH LOMOND, this song makes me think at a very dear man to me who told me once to listen to PROTECT AND SURVIVE and since then my ears and heart are enchanted with this amazing band's songs. This man is a good man even he lives his life like a leaf in the wind, God I wish to know that he'll be always safe and sound.

  • .....I lost my leaf in the wind, my son was agood man, where he is now, he is safe and sound......but god knows I would trade places with him to have him back here.

  • Sometimes we would do quite a lot to change the past but all is in vain. I'd turn back in time to live my life in another way, but it's impossible.

All we can do is keep alive the moments we spend and spend together with the beloved ones.

  • omg my dads just the greatest fan he has all the cd's and every time he drive in the car this cd is on :D .. and now i've commed to like it ^^) and this song is the best of all

  • did'nt think it would be the same without donnie but starting to like bruce. going to see them in inverness soon. they appeal to all young and old alike. will be a sad day when they call it a day. hope not for a long time yet

  • Bruce is more of a crowd man then Donny ever was. Still love Donny's voice but Bruce is defo more interactive. This concert was amazing to be at even though i was soaked to the bone.

  • This version has class - how beautifully they have matured!

  • I love Runrig:)and i can not stop listening to there songs since i came across there music .There songs leave me breath less and fills my heart and soul with so much love and happiness for within there songs i feel ma beloved Bonnie Scotland. The words to there songs are so powerful and beautiful.Thank you for sharing .I dedicate this song to someone very special that helped to introduce me to there music"ALASDAIR"where ever life takes us or our journey you will forever be with me and part of mex

  • i first heard and saw them in the early 90s, i was drunk and i think i won tickets to see them one time. i have since bought the cds and dvds to remind me of the best band in Scotland. i moved to England and blast them out for the English to listen and enjoy the way i do. i have memories of my time in Scotland. ive not been home for 5 years. one day soon i will go back to see my friends i left behind. this is one of my favourites.

  • Woah fuck is this a great version!!!! I like them very much...

  • super version of every river
