Basicly 00 is fine outside as long as the trackbase is solid. Locos are standard but due to the gradent on the line my electrics will be getting rebuilt using bachmann warship parts as discribed on RM web. Water on the rails is ok its only the minarals in tap water that cause shorts.
Cool. Ever seen Don Jones Birmingham New street "oo" layout?? Great garden railway. Any way like what you've done here. Any problems or tips for OO out doors?? 5*
Hi, i have been following your thread on rmweb and i think this is one of the best garden railways i have seen, i think one of the good things about this is video is that you dont have your trains flying around the track!
First I would just like to point out that 00 gauge is perfect outdoors as long as the trackbed is well built. For those not convinced check out the model rail dvd! Second I have just posted part 3 of this series showing how the railway has moved on over the past 18 months.
Hi thanks for the comments. The construction of the layout is being documented on the Taw-Vale garden railway forum in the garden railways section. In there is the link to the heatherburn garden railway website.Further videos will be added as the project continues to extend around the garden!
Hi.Thi railway looks to me like it will look fantastic when finished and will give locomotives a good run with some good speed allowed.I have also replied with a video of my railway which is also 00 gauge.Maybe you should have an open day when you've finished your line,I know I'd love to see my Kings doubleheading over that!Well done.

Are these OO locos standard Lima/Hornby models or are they modified for outdoor use? How do you get round the problem of water getting on the rails?
