  • all those years sitting at the vanguard and watching her sing with the big band was always a thrill=1970s

  • Thrilling changes.

And what a vocalist - she loves the altered harmonies instead of being put off by them.

  • This is so beautiful!

  • love dee dee like her since 78...

  • She is ridiculously amazing. And she can scat like a beast. If anyone has any vids of her scatting, please upload!!!!

  • Wow! THANKS FOR POSTING.

She's always been on top of her fashion game. Like Vaughan, I loved everything about the timbre, clarity and dexterity of Bridgewater's voice in the seventies.

  • Dig those earrings....

  • so many great times those mon nites at the vanguard---max even let me have a grilled cheese sandwich one nite

  • I saw Thad Jones and Mel Lewis in Ronnie Scotts in the early seventies and Dee Dee was so young then and so beautiful and the voice was out of this world. In those days you could see Ella Fitzgerald in that tiny, smokey club and get in at the last minute for 5 pounds...and sit down at the front...happy days!

  • Man, she could suckle a sick calf back to health...

  • Wonderful to see this. Thad wrote this majorly swinging chart for Ruth Brown, I think and teaches all of us how it should be done. Dee Dee is wonderful.

  • Five stars for the band, three tops for the singer.

  • MORE Pepper Adams footage, PLEASE!!!

    Especially with this killer band!

  • I am another member of the Thad and Mel adoration society.

  • your point? What's wrong with liking the most artistic big band that has ever exsisted. Your an idiot if you don't like them.

  • My point is this, that I alove the Thad Jones Mel Lewis Orchestra and have done so for more that 30 years.

What do you fine objectionable in my stating that I "adore them"? Did you think that I was being flippant. I'm not.

    Seán

  • woops, my bad

  • do you think Cecil liked the bald, bull dog look?

  • I don't know. Ron and Cecil are both there aren't they? Big head of hair on both of them whilst their sister is as bald as an egg.

  • Dee Dee was married to Cecil. yeah, ron is playing tenor and Cecil is in the back.

  • amazing. Anymore from this concert? If you have, please post. There is a Thad/Mel/Vanguard band community out here who will love you.
