Such soul searching, especially second hand, doesn't become Tom; the Burning Hell one sits much better with him. Still, an endearing and moving performance. Ain't Gonna Go to Hell for Anybody.
As a child I grew up watching Tom's show with Big Jim Sullivan on guitar, a great inspiration! This Bob Dylan piece was wonderfully presented with sheer emotion and soul... Tom is one of the greatest soul singers of our time and like a fine wine he is smooth and polished like a fine gem... like other great blues/soul singers of our time he just gets better with age. "Praise and Blame" is a wonderful new path he's led us to. Thanks Tom and Peace to you always***
I have loved this man since I was 10 and now Im 52 - cant wait to see him again .- in Vega Copenhagen on Wednesday - my heart is beating so hard for this man.
Wow, Tom Jones, I now understand why my aunt was a big fan of you back in the 60's. Growing listening to all your other songs, they are very good, but never truly see the true talent that you have until now with this song. Beautifully sung. That's how I want to see a song sung, with emotion, with art, creatively sung. Thank you.
For some perverse reason many people think singers should only sing their own songs. If proof were needed of how asinine that view is, this it it. The quality of Dylan's songwriting is not always immediately apparent. It sometimes needs to find full expression in someone else's voice, as here. Quite magnificent.
this is very johnny cash! even though it's a dylan song he has made it his own with a twist, im not a massive to jones fan but this album is a classic!!!
When I see this version, I always get hypnotised because it seems that Tom had something very personal to add into Dylan's lyrics. It's a man that made many dubious records even when he got hyped, When he reachers 70-years-old and so lonely asks the mirror what good he is, it's not only a song. It's real life.
This song stops my life. Everytime I listen to this I cant help but stop. reflect. and ask questions of my own life.... To me, that makes a once in a life time song. I know Tom Jones didnt write this, but no one can argue that this is not beautiful.....
The initial reviews seem a bit lukewarm, but the songs I've sampled are splendid. I'm buying it! Tom is a singer and interpretor through and through! He's the voice!
Hat Musik einen seelischen Nährwert? - Was wären wir ohne Musik? Wieviel ärmer wäre das Leben ohne die letzten 44 Jahre mit der immer up-to-date-music von Tom! Green green grass of home, meine liebe Delilah! Kiss! Erstaunliche Stimme für einen jungen Siebzigjährigen! Go on...
Finally someone covered a Bob song better than Bob. Not since Jimi Hendrix covered 'Watch Tower' has anyone done real justice to a Dylan song. Well, maybe Van Morrison's version of 'Baby Blue' or, Sheryl Crow's version of 'Mississippi', oh yea and Ani Defranco's version of 'Most of the Time'. Other than that no one. Well, Beck did a pretty great 'Leopard Skin Pill Box Hat. That's it no one else has done Bob as good as Bob.

Makes ya realise what a great vocalist Dylan is and how limited in range and feeling so called good singers like Tom Jones are. Elvis, he certainly aint and he's no Dylan either!!
@digiman47 Actually Sir Tom as singer in his prime had more range than Elvis, he hitted lower and higher notes by far, even was admired by great opera singers, cos with training he could have been one of them, his vocal quality was one of the most heartfelt, even Elvis, Janis, Aretha, Wilson, Otis, Frank, Tina etc, admired Tom, Elvis famously asked "how the hell you sing like that" Wilson and Otis, said Tom was the greatest white male soul singer.
Wonderful job Tom. It's good to see you singing the songs you really want to sing and enjoying yourself. Keep the wonderful music coming. Always love you.

No Autotune here. Sir Tom Jones is using his voice. No lip synching. Anyone agree? Sir Tom doesn't use voice fixing like the crappy artists of today.
