Are the doors on Xterras sealed pretty well? I was with a friend in a '98 Jeep and we went through about 2 1/2 feet of mud/water and it started coming in the bottom and flooded the floor and carpet. Ripped that shit out, but was curious about the Xterra.

how do you guys not have your x's go into fail-safe mode after taking in all that water and mud? i have an 06 stock and i'm saving up for a lift and tires. i take my x in the woods now to go mudding but anytime i do, later on in the day when i start it up, vdc off/slip/service engine soon lights come on and i can't rev past 1500 rpms. eventually after turning it on and off a bunch of times, vdc off/slip go out and i'm able to drive normally. whats the deal with that?

No brush guards on any of these xterras. Brush guards offer no protection at all, and can end up causing more damage when in an accident than if you never had one.  Plus they reduce approach angle which is bad in the offroad world. But the bumpers you see are made by shrockworks, and are the best money can buy. No light bars either. the lights are attached on the inside of the wind dam to a piece of flat bar.

2nd gen is better and has about 100 more horsepower! it is true what you have heard about the diffs. alot of people have put the titan diffs in there xterra's.

maybe more powerful... but my supercharged 1st gen is more capable than a comparable 2nd gen off road based on the fact that its smaller lighter and nimbler.

they are both great, the newer ones are a big higher up on the size chain but they have mad power, factory locker in the rear, and can run 35s with a titan front diff.

The new generation Xterras dont have the 4 banger option.  Only the frontiers have that option. Since these are all new gen xterras... nope, all 6 cylender.

I might get an xterra. Not sure. I currently have a Cherokee and I luv it. My question is however if I get 1 is the lights on the roof of the silver X. Is there anythign special the putting them on cuz i caint find light bars to put lights on or do they hook onto the exisiting roof rack?

I actually was the person who installed those lights for him. Its not a complicated process... all you have to do is get some skinny flat bar and drill however many holes in it as you want lights, measure 50 times before you drill or cut anything. But in order to get power up there you will have to drill a hole through the top of the roof. I guess I can post a video of how I set my stuff up (mine is done just like his just with bigger lights). Wireing it is the hardest part.

first gen huh. Well you have a couple of options. Calmini makes a suspension lift and a body lift for it (just google calmini) and I believe that rancho makes a couple of lift components as well. For the best information on first gen X's go look at xterraownersclub(dot)com.

In huntsville (where they execute people) about an hour north of houston on 45. Exit #123 (i think) turn west after you get off the interstate. Drive a mile or so to the 'T' then take a right. Drive down that road a couple of miles (maybe more) and its down a gravel road on your left.

Well there isnt a green one but the blue one (the large one) has a base 5" lift with lots of extras giving it around 6-7" of lift.  Tires are 315/70/17 (~35")

We didnt do it to jump that little bump, we did it because the whole track had small dips and bumps... I did it to test out how smooth the ride was and how good of a suspension i had put together. jumps are coming though... I have a set of air bumpstops sitting in my garage... You wont be disappointed when I get it all together. But I have projects (other than my truck) that need to get done first. Stay tuned
