  • Some of the pieces I've seen are pretty rough, is there a way to sand them down or something and smooth them out after it's printed out, or is the plastic too hard?

  • @chimera15 There are several different types of plastic you can run in the Makerbot. The most common plastic used is ABS which is the stuff Legos are made of. Many Makerbot users sand their creations, then coat or paint them.

  • So awesome, what do they cost?

  • @chimera15 So...1k?  That's pretty awesome.

  • @chimera15 They cost around $1,000 but you can buy just the critical components and assemblies separately from them and build one for less.
