@313hummer Yeah, you can tell that to all the benchmarking sites that show Intel having amazing amount of frames on the i3 - i7 line. Even the i3 would get more frames than Phenom II X6 1100T. @313hummer If you are referring to the clock frequency, okay. I wouldn't mind a 3.2GHz Dual-Core over a 2.6Ghz, so I wouldn't mind going for a DC AMD.
Q: i overclocked this cpu @ 3.45 just by raising the bus speed to 230 and all is set to auto i didn't change the voltage, its pretty stable,.. is this the right way or is it ok? btw my idle temps is around 26-28 and my full load is 35c , i bought an after market cooling just a simple one, DEEPCOOL BETA 200st
ok all admit it i don't know anything about AMD but dose this sound like a good computer? im really just looking to play current games at mid but i have no idea what this would be capable of.
I pushed this cpu to 3.6 GHZ stable and Im very sure it can reach 4 GHZ I just did not want to risk it as I dont have a spare. However I am using a am3 motherboard and 1333 mhz ram so with lower speed ram i doubt you could push it as far as I did. Great Budget CPU I have yet to find a game I cannot play on max settings.

im building a new pc - and just bought this cpu as it was under 60 bucks - and seeing this review im glad i bought it - btw im using on a asus m3a77td main board
@downhillproductions5 To overclock a multiplier locked CPU (not black edition) you need to increase the HT Reference Clock (sometimes shown as FSB). This Athlon II 250 has its multiplier locked at 15. The clock speed comes from HT Reference Clock X CPU mutliplier, so 200 x 15 = 3000MHz. If you increase the HT Reference Clock the clock speed goes up. 240 x 15 would give you 3600MHz. It's hard to explain everything else in a comment, check YouTube for some guides :)
Overclocked this CPU to 3.9GHz. Stable and I haven't touched the voltages yet. It's goes to about 45C at full load. Using only an Arctic Cooling 64 Pro. Cute little chip.. :) Gigabyte GA-770TA-UD3 mobo

@cis2lok14 Yeah this cpu would be perfect with your mobo. I checked newegg.com for the info about your mobo and everything should go great! You might not be able to get a high fps on Assassin's Creed with high settings, maybe 25-35fps. I would go for it!
@cis2lok I don't think so. It might become unstable. I did that with my cpu and it did not run well. Remove the overclock, buy a retail cooler, stableize the temp, and re-overclock. If the temp 56C at full load, you can keep the overclock, but get a better cooler as fast as posible. If that temp is at idle, don't even run your computer without removeing the overclock. It's too unsafe at high temps.

@PureOxCash I have the same chipset, but I use a X2 245. I can push it to 3.3Ghz on stock voltage. on stock cooling, you shouldnt go over 3.6Ghz on the 250, but you will have to increase voltage about 50mV
ok now i m confused whether some of my friends say amd gets hot after a period of time is this true ?? and by hot they means very hot and amd sucks...
I have an AMD Athlon II X2 250 on an eMachine motherboard but CPU-Z is only showing 1607.3 MHz. Am I missing something? Yours is @ 3000+MHz. Hope to hear from you PCWizKid!
@Mysteoa i have an old mobo ( foxconn a6vmx), at their website it says it supports a dual core. i wonder if it would support a phenom quad core with a bios update???? plz can u answer??? it is an am2+ mobo!
@xhimiz14 You have a Am2+ socket whit support AM3 CPUs, but you will need a bios update. Since it supports AM3 CPU's, so it means it support all the AM3 CPU even the Phenom. If you are going for a bios update be extremely careful because if something happen during the update your PC won't start( you will have to buy a new mobo). So it's better if someone that knows how it is done or someone qualified. I recommend of buying AM3 CPU, for future upgrading the motherboard, you won't need a new CPU.
I'm thinking of buying this cpu. I'm not gonna overclock it immediately, but I've seen reviewers overclocking this processor to 3.9 Ghz which is amazing for it's price.
The other cpu I'm comparing it to is the Athlon X4 620, but in several situations, the 250 was actually faster (while it's cheaper).
could I get this processor if my fsb would be (only) 1000mhz? and does the speed of the fsb affect to the maximum speed of the memory and/or gpu? I'm just about to build my first computer and I am kinda n00b :D
naw it came with an integrated geforce 6150 se.. isn't that not nearly as good? I've been out of the knowledge loop as far as new graphics cards go.. probably since the 3dfx Voodoo 2000 came out.. LAWL!!
i forgot, its an emachine. of course it came with an nvidia chipset from 5 years ago :\, If you plan on any real gaming, i would really suggest upgrading. a gt 240 would do nicely!
@ooFLooDoo Check the manuel, or the website you bought the motherboard from. There should be a list of cpu it can support. If you have socket AM3 just about any AM3 cpu will work. But just to be safe, check the list of supported cpus. It'll be easier then returning the cpu or upgrading your bios.
@PCWizKid Hey I need help if my motherboard is nvidia geforce 7025 630a and video board ati hd 5450 2 gb ram ,the motherboard will take some rams:-s?1.25 gb ram from 2 or something like that????

@downhillproductions5 To overclock a multiplier locked CPU (not black edition) you need to increase the HT Reference Clock (sometimes shown as FSB). This Athlon II 250 has its multiplier locked at 15. The clock speed comes from HT Reference Clock X CPU mutliplier, so 200 x 15 = 3000MHz. Hi.........I'm trying to decide whether to go for the Athlon X2 245 (2.9 Ghz) or the 250 (3.0 GHz).
Is it worth it to splash the extra cash for the X2 250? This is from the perspective of a gaming rig which I am now assembling. Thanks

does an am3 cpu work on a am2/am2+ motherboard?
xhimiz14 1 year ago
@xhimiz14 yes
Mysteoa 1 year ago
@Mysteoa i have an old mobo ( foxconn a6vmx), at their website it says it supports a dual core. i wonder if it would support a phenom quad core with a bios update???? plz can u answer??? it is an am2+ mobo!
xhimiz14 1 year ago
@xhimiz14 You have a Am2+ socket whit support AM3 CPUs, but you will need a bios update. Since it supports AM3 CPU's, so it means it support all the AM3 CPU even the Phenom. If you are going for a bios update be extremely careful because if something happen during the update your PC won't start( you will have to buy a new mobo). So it's better if someone that knows how it is done or someone qualified. I recommend of buying AM3 CPU, for future upgrading the motherboard, you won't need a new CPU.
Mysteoa 1 year ago
@xhimiz14 i think it works with am2+, not with am2

is this better than intel?
heyitsrunescape 1 year ago
I'm thinking of buying this cpu. I'm not gonna overclock it immediately, but I've seen reviewers overclocking this processor to 3.9 Ghz which is amazing for it's price.
The other cpu I'm comparing it to is the Athlon X4 620, but in several situations, the 250 was actually faster (while it's cheaper).
dorlandosonic 1 year ago
@dorlandosonic hows that possible :O?? that its faster
mrbest20 1 year ago
@mrbest20
Because the dual core is clocked higher and when the x4, clocked at slower speed, isn't using the 2 extra cores, it's slower then the dual core.

nice man :) now i can choose :) thx :)

could I get this processor if my fsb would be (only) 1000mhz? and does the speed of the fsb affect to the maximum speed of the memory and/or gpu? I'm just about to build my first computer and I am kinda n00b :D
koskioo 2 years ago
it should run fine, but performance will be lower. i would recommend saving up for a new motherboard, or overclocking.

My new EMachine has this processor. I'm glad it performs well.. now I'm running a Geforce 6500 pci express.. wonder if I should upgrade that further?
sirlordwhitman 2 years ago
why on earth would you have a 6500 in a new pc? didn't the emachine come with a 3200 built in or something?
thebeetalls 1 year ago
naw it came with an integrated geforce 6150 se.. isn't that not nearly as good? I've been out of the knowledge loop as far as new graphics cards go.. probably since the 3dfx Voodoo 2000 came out.. LAWL!!
sirlordwhitman 1 year ago
i forgot, its an emachine. of course it came with an nvidia chipset from 5 years ago :\, If you plan on any real gaming, i would really suggest upgrading. a gt 240 would do nicely!

Does the AMD Athlon II X2 250 run Full HD videos?

RimonKing 2 years ago
Unless you have some absurdly low amount of RAM, I can give you a fairly confident yes.
alicizmar 2 years ago
@alicizmar
So 4 GB of DDR2 should be enough? :D
RimonKing 2 years ago
Yup, and if you have a fairly modern video card (or even some newer onboard) it's all but in the bag.

well actually i think, a good cpu is needed as well.
so in the instructions of my camcorder they talk only about required CPUs, not GPU.

it´s a am3 socket cpu, so that mobo needs to have a am3 socket.

@PCargGAMES No it won't. There are AM2+ mobos that support AM3 cpu but this one is too old

how do i check my motherboard and how do i know if this would fit,
ooFLooDoo 1 year ago
@ooFLooDoo Check the manuel, or the website you bought the motherboard from. There should be a list of cpu it can support. If you have socket AM3 just about any AM3 cpu will work. But just to be safe, check the list of supported cpus. It'll be easier then returning the cpu or upgrading your bios.
