Britain was in a bit of a mess with strikes, power cuts etc and Paul and the guys had something to say as most punk bands did at the time, some very valid issues too. The complaint was not about people living in big houses but about some ordinary people having little opportunities. Paul worked hard to earn his cash, why shouldn't he enjoy his life now?

I don't see why the blame always falls on the woman, I didn't much like Nancy, but Sid had a head of his own, he could've used it better. But it's too late to debate about this all now, Sid was surely a character and will be remembered for what he was, but he is not exactly the best idol for anyone to have.

Sid strangled a cat with its own collar, while the cat struggled for life and deficated all over the place... what a tough little boy. Some time later he had a pop at Paul Weller, who knocked him out. Weller was the man, a real Punk, and sid was just a little prick. this is just my opinion.

@tuzza688 Sorry I cannot agree with that, Paul Weller was a teenager when he started the Jam and it was in the 70's not 80's. Britain was in a bit of a mess with strikes, power cuts etc and Paul and the guys had something to say as most punk bands did at the time, some very valid issues too. The complaint was not about people living in big houses but about some ordinary people having little opportunities. Paul worked hard to earn his cash, why shouldn't he enjoy his life now?

@BooxoBoo -It doesnt matter how "smacked out" he was, nodding off from dope or pills isn't the same as passing out from booze. When you pass out from booze it's like being in a coma at worst, but when you nod out it's like a light sleep and it's super rare that you stay out for very long, you'll wake up and nod back out off and on all night if youre really fucked up. If someone were to break in and make noise it's a good chance that that would wake him. So the being too high to wake thing is BS

If Nancy had have lived on, Sid would probably have been ok and possibly gone on to ruin lives of others. DRUGS are usually a one-way affair.

Sid's violent public image (no pun intended) belied what John Beverley was on the inside. He was no fighter really, he was self-destructive.
I'd go along with his version that he was in a smacked-out stupor and it was a like a dream, he knew someone had come into the room and Nancy was in some kind of argument. All he recalled was a blur of shapes and shouting and a tussle going on while he laid there.

He had violently attacked her before and it was his knife. If it was that drugs dealer, then why didn't police pursue that line of investigation? After he died of an overdose, the police closed the case, why? Because, it's more than likely, Sid WAS the killer, he just flippped his lid during another argument with her.

The amount of drugs in his system proved he'd been smacked out that much he was unconcious LONGER than Nancy had been dead for. It was a drug dealer who broke into the flat. Nancy was awake, Sid wasn't. It's a conspiracy of 2 halves but i've read his biography and that's what the facts say. Why? She was a crab crawling skank who ruined his life.

@BooxoBoo As far as my memory goes there was no question that Sid was innocent, I do believe John Lydon showed little surprise at the verdict. Sid never wrote an autobiography but I dare say many wrote about him. Sid was talentless, young, naive, and easily mislead and was the reason in my opinion why the Sex Pistols split up.
