Don't talk about things you don't know deatXbyXchocolate. Hebrew modern is the same than ancien hebrew. It has been codified at the end of 19th century by Ben Yehuda who added words who did'nt exist at the time of kingdom of Israel ( For example Car, Bus, Train or computer for example) But the primaries words like bred, fish, door, bridge, road etc are the same
@ATLAS196533 Okay seriously, you obviously have no idea. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME. The letters are different, the pronunciations are different. It's like olde tyme english versus modern english. They're not the same AT ALL.
@ATLAS196533 In terms of vocab and grammar and of building new words, MH and BH are the same (except for added words, of course, which are based on BH words, borrowed from other languages, or invented from scratch). However, the pronunciation and word order in a sentence in MH can be surprisingly European. For example, in BH you could say "(So)Went I (to)home(my)", whereas MH would be "I went (to the)house (of)mine".
@ATLAS196533 Regardless, this song (and all other "Prince of Egypt" songs in Hebrew) use Biblical Hebrew, which is very well known in Israel because they teach it to you from a very early age in Tanakh (Bible) class. The only thing that's slightly Modern Hebrew is their pronunciations. I applaud the vocalists/actors for making biblical-style accents, but their Modern Hebrew accent is showing through a little bit :)
The idea of Moses hugging marble pillars and preferring the comfort of "this world" is just so false an impression. There are times when the Hollywood overwhelms the basic story with its appeal to glitter and ideal images.
This version tries to represent Moses as the everyman to relate to the audience. An ordinary man thrust into the greatness decided by the Lord. Not only is it effective, I find it way more believable than even the Ten Commandments movie version.
The most believable version is the bible itself: Moses fled Egypt to Midian and became a shepherd there for Yitro. The very qualities that he expressed there made him qualified to be chosen for the task of leader for his people. He did not wish to be a leader, but he accepted what was asked from him by the Almighty.
That's kind of the same thing here, isn't it? In this movie, he didn't want to be a leader either, but he ended up doing it anyways. I think the writers wanted to emphasize on that. Of course the Bible is the one that told the story, but I'm not above seeing what others interpret of it through art, even if it's animation.
@72Yonatan That is true, in the book of Hebrews, Paul talks about how Moses eschewed the privileges of Egypt, went into the wilderness and proceeded to save the Jews from bondage.
Hebrew people on earth. you speak the most ancient language. I am proud to be Jewish and understand each word of this phenomenal language. long live israel
That's so cool! :) You understand Hebrew? I'm Chinese and I've always wanted to learn that language because the words are so smooth-sounding. Do Jewish people speak Hebrew at home as a daily language or do they only use it for special occasions?
as an israeli who goes to a hebrew-israeli school every week i can tell you that we speak exactly the same language that you hear in this video.
of coure that in the 21' Century its a little bit different because we use slang.
but the letters and the words are the same as the words or the letters from the Bible! we (the jewish) are using the same language for thousands of years!
if you have any more questions do not be shy to ask!
you can defenitley tell that this was composed by hans zimmer. the music around 0:50 was also used in devinci code. infact hans uses alot of is musics in different films like gladiator and pirates of the carribeans
To settle this: Tanakh originally in: ARAMAIC. Modern Hebrew is similar but not exactly the same. Aramaic is the root for Arabic and Hebrew.

I love your people's language, Hebrew is so beautiful. But tell me, what's the easiest way to learn your language?
skllpirates12457 1 year ago
@skllpirates12457
learning a new language is never an easy mission,
especialy if your language uses vowel letters (unlike hebrew).
i highly recommend you to learn it "face to face", maybe even in a group - with a speaker and not by yourself.
learning a new language all by yourself would be much harder thing to do.
shakel32 1 year ago
@skllpirates12457
Something great you could do by yourself, is watch movies in Hebrew and imitate the actors. It helps with the accent. It can be rather fun, too.
