That's standard protocol for energy drink sponsored drivers. Ken carries Monster during interviews, Travis a Red Bull, etc. etc. ACP is just more thorough.

what he means is he ran the tires on the opposite side of what is normal so the tread usually on the outside of the car is on the inside edge...
