fue eric y peter son buenos los dos pero los de ahorita dan asco no hay como ace freheyl y peter criss se hace famoso gracias a los personajes de ellos
I think Peter Criss and Eric Carr great drummers. But with different styles, Peter Criss has a link to the old school as Joe Morello, Gene Krupa and others. While Eric Carr came under the influence of the great drummers of the great rock bands of the '70s. Eric has the merit of imposing their style. As for the guitarists who replaced Ace simply reproduced the soil created by him. And with his departure, Kiss never got another guitarist with enough charisma to replace him.
Quite amazing. I wonder what would have happened if Eric had joined KISS from the very beginning. Terrific drummer and, apparently, one of the nicest human beings in Rock music. This line up of KISS maybe not be the "historic" one, but is far the best of all of them. Vinnie Vincent, the most underrated member of the band and yet, the most talented one. He brought KISS music back to life.
eric is a really good drummer but i have always been more of a peter criss kind of guy i like the soul he puts into playing it honestly makes me feel like god . peter should be in KISS now . eric singer is really good but he is not the origanl and + i think eric singer should get his own makeup diesing or something mabey like the hawk.
I saw this tour in my hometown. The Creatures of the Night tour.I remember the tank drum platform. In your face!I never liked Vinnie Vincent as a KISS member.I think a lot of other people felt the same way.he just didn't fit in KISS.I was glad to see him go and then they brought in Mark St.John, which was soon replaced by Bruce Kulick due to St.John's disease called Reiter's Syndrome.Sadly,he as Eric, died from this disease sometime later.I don't remember the actual date of his death.
Eric Carr was an exceptionally awesome drummer. One of the best double bass drummers out there at the time.Yes ,he may have been able to do things that Peter Criss could not,we don't know. But Peter comes from a different era of music than Eric did,and he had different influences than Eric did.Peter was one of Gen Krupa's students at one time, and that's Big Band music right there.peter is a great drummer in his own right. He should never be compared to anyone else.Ringo Starr, same thing about him.
No KISS fan was talking about Peter Criss anymore when this man became the Fox and new drummer. Eric Carr kicked Peter Criss' ass. Not many that replace an original member of any band, can make that claim.
I am sorry if my comment implied that I was at the concert in Brazil,I wasn't. What I meant,is that I saw this tour in my local city where I live.It was an awesome conceert with that tank drum stage. But I never meant to mislead anyone with my previous statement.
hype ? how comes when they got back together in the 90s with ace and pete they tour the world and sold out everything , everywhere , Maybe had something to do with ace + pete leaving ????
Here's why that could be so...Back in the 90's it's was all about 70's nostalgia. And plus as musically efficient as the non-makeup line up was, people still clamored for the original line up. Lastly, KISS's popularity started sinking once again due to the whole grunge movement so Gene and Paul decided to reunite the original line up
Hard to believe this tour and album was a complete failure in America....everyone around me was making fun of KISS at the time...it was a rough time....had tickets to go see them, and it cancelled due to very low ticket sales!!!!.....unbelieveable...shows how many fake fans they had in the mid 70's due to hype.
A lot of peole went to see KISS in 1979 because they were popular and not because they liked their music. Def Leppard had the same thing in the late 80s and early 90s. People went because it was cool. In 1992, they played to full arenas, four years later they had trouble filling smaller venues.
Yeah really Creatures to me is the last really good album from them. If they had released this record instead of Unmasked or even The Elder..they probably would've won back a lot of fans. I wouldn't say a lot of fans were fake. Most of em didn't like the fact the KISS was starting to pander to toddlers and young children as their audience and it turned fans off
"CREATURES OF THE NIGHT,COLD GIN,CALLING DR. LOVE,FIRE HOUSE,I LOVE IT LOUD,WAR MACHINE,BLACK DIAMOND AND ROCK'N'ROLL ALL NIGHT and INCLUDING a rarely seen/heard BAD-ASS version of GOD THUNDER w/ERIC on DRUMS&VINNY VINCENT ON GUITAR"ALL of these from that tour need to be made on both CD AND FOR DOWNLOAD IN iTUNES(of course w/PAUL&GENES permission of course!!)and SOON!!
I saw this tour in Houston, Texas. As a young drummer, seeing and hearing Eric on that tank was a major life changing event for my musical life. KISS was, and IS the greatest live band in history. R.I.P. Eric, you are missed, my brother.
Where did you get this? I have not seen this in its full, unedited form before? I have a COTN media "collection" on VHS, and it has this solo, but it's got voice overs and it's heavily edited. Do you happen to have anything else from this show?
Dude, all i meant was , I'd like to hear him solo on a smaller, one bass drum kit- (double bass drums are a bit gimmicky to me)-- It would be a different solo altogether. And hell, yeah, Peter was never in the same league as Eric as far as being an instrumentalist...so my appologies to all you Eric-heads...
God bless eric, he was technically better than peter, but he would have never been able to play this solo without double bass drums or double bassdrum pedals...
Vinnie Vincent was a guitarist, not a drummer. I like all the drummers who have been in KISS. Each one has thier own merits. My personal Favorite is Eric 'The Fox' Carr, i feel he brought a lot to the way the band shaped after ace and peter left. Thats not to say i don't think peter and eric singer aren't good drummers.... far from it.
u dudes are trippin, u cant compare the 2 drummers peter was a jazz type drummer with a a rock attitude single bass...eric was more a trashy rock drummer with a double bass kick, not that he ever used it lol but he hit the skins alot harder than peter did..over all eric singer would have been the best out of all 3 drummers..vinnie vincent really sucked, bad!!!
As a drummer, and a student of rock and roll, I hate to say this: Peter Criss wasn't very good at all. He was a character, but as a drummer, he kind of sucked. I was playing his 100,000 Years solo in 5th grade. The producer for Destroyer had to literally teach him to play, which is the primary reason the recording of that album took so long. Great personality, but one of the worst drummers ever to make it in Rock and Roll. Watch him live, and compare him to anyone else. Hard to dispute.
Actually, very easy to dispute. I have seen KISS with all three drummers. Not sure where you get your info from bro, but Peter was playing drums long before Destroyer. He was, and is, a jazz schooled drummer. And there are PLENTY of excellent drummers out there who have recorded solos I was playing in 5th grade as well.
I get my info. from a lifetime of playing and studying rock n roll. I love most genres of music, and I feel pretty good when I submit an opinion. You wanted to know where I got my info? Ok...I know Peter had a jazz background - just because he had a jazz background doesn't mean he was GOOD at it. If you read KISS Behind the Mask there is a testimony from Bob Ezrin, who produced Destroyer. He states that recording took so long because they had to literally TEACH Peter timing and technique.
I'm not disputing your opinion or your background. But Bob...well, considering he spent most of his career with KISS hyped up on coke, I don't put much weight to anything he says. I have spent a good many years sitting behind a kit myself, and have heard Peter play live several times, and myself think he is pretty good. But, then again that is MY opinion. We all have them. But to say Ezrin taught Peter to play is, well, you know...
I'm not a drummer, so I don't know who's better. all I know is Eric Carr ROCKED! Peter Criss ROCKED!(listen to the solo on 100,000yrs. on KISS Alive!)...oh yeah, Eric Singer ROCKED! my favorite style is Carr's- loud and powerful- like a tank! like John Bonham...
Nice, but any really good heavy metal druumer can do it. Peter Criss was much more particular, his style and sound were far more personalized and unique. Peter's solos are simply impossible to clone,no so much for the technique but it was the sound and style that made him one of the greatest drummers in history. Peter Criss is definetly better!
What's up. I agree with you on Peter having his own style, but as a drummer, and a fan of rock and roll, to be honest, Peter Criss is not a very good drummer. His timing sucked, he didn't have many licks, and he wasn't a true rock drummer. His solo's were comical at best. All that said, he should have never left. No-one in Kiss was that musical.
Eric Carr was a clear example of proper good havy metal drummer:fast, powerful and precise. But he wasn't as good as Peter Criss. I mean Peter was maybe less fast on the double kick drums, less powerful also but he was a jazz drummer. He had more style and more capability to alternate tempos and beats (listen to his solos!). To be a good metal drummer is one thing but to be a good jazz one is a different matter. Peter was better!
I think this may be the best KISS line up I have ever seen. This concert is amazing, and they butchered it on KISSOLOGY II. I want this whole concert. Very heavy and sounds great.
It's a dirty, rotten shame that this one-of-a-kind drum solo was not featured on the second KISSology. All you hear is a snippet of the very end as the Rio performance starts. And the thing is, the same solo can be heard as a prelude to both "Creatures of the Night" and "War Machine". IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN FULL!!!!

Eric Carr died in early 1991 due to inoperable cancer. He was replaced with another great drummer, Eric Singer, but Carr was something special.
