  • ça fait chier pas de musique !

  • What an amazing film. The clarity is great. The traffic and pedestrians all over the place there must have been a LOT of accidents and fatalities.

Thanks, Del, Isle of Wight, ENGLAND

  • I want to visit the past (Like 1905 in SF) because I seriously like their clothing and the way they live. Those long dresses and the hats, wow! I'd love to dress like that, but the way we dress already changed :(

  • Wish i was alive to witness those times before the quake. Seems so real....i mean, it just seems like people are really living life the way it was meant to be lived

  • WOW WHAT A VIDEO THANKS A LOT FOR THIS WORK.

  • @lukky5 Thanks it was fun producing it!

  • Great! Excellent choice of music! I think it is fascinating that the 1905 footage really isn't from 1905 but really just before the earthquake (maybe less than a week).

  • @scottgilesmusic Thank you! Also of note there is a car with 4 bowler hatted gentlemen that turns and comes back towards the streetcar. One of the men in the car is the co-producer the other co-producer is filming.

  • Absolutely GREAT! Thanks for sharing this mix with us.

  • @sagemoonspirit IT IS MY PLEASURE AND PURPOSE TO ENTERTAIN AND INFORM. THANKS FOR WATCHING!

  • FANTASTIC!

  • @CAROLKL Thank you Carol!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the vid. The 1906 part may have been a bit depressing, but the 1905 reminded me of British tramways in places like London and Blackpool.

  • Thank you for sharing this video

  • @afcarmona01 Thank you for watching!

  • I'm from The City, and it still is the most beautiful urban area I've ever seen. Thanks for the post.....

  • @ripperduck I had the great fortune to live there from 1964 - 1975. It is a world class city and its only 8 miles wide.

  • wow! I wonder if a lot of people got killed just walking/driving/horse-and-carriaging/cable-carring down the street back then?!

  • @TheKatelove9 I would be amazed if there were no fatalities!

  • @TheKatelove9 In the very early days of motoring, people simply played by their own rules--it shows that somehow or other, people seem to manage pretty well on their own. The point is is that they had no other frame of reference at the time and had no idea how dangerous this street scene would appear over 100 years later.

  • Wow, that is a great video. I love the 1905 part, it is sooo smooth, how did they do that I wonder? Thanks for posting it.

  • @Wilbo43 I believe the Photographer was using an Edison film camera. I also believe the film was extremely well preserved by someone who cared. I found it in an archive as I did with the others. the 1905 part is my favorite. Thanks

  • Hi. Well this is a fluke! I just found out that we are related! I won't reveal any names here, but I thought I'd let you know that my mother sent me your link. She lives in Ontario, Canada. I live in Toronto. She sent me the link because I love this type of old footage. My partner actually collects silent films. I hear you just returned from a nice trip! Hope you find time to make more of these!

  • @llJulianKingll HI, how are we related? Thanks for subscribing!

  • GREAT job. Thanks for this!

  • @llJulianKingll Thank You!

  • good one! thanks! :]

  • @sfo1164 hey, dude you know the building on the left that says "pierce-rodolph storage in both 1905 and 1906 just in front of the ferry cock tower? yeah.. um, wheres the building in 1906?!.. wtf, did that fall down too?

  • @TheWindsniper10 part of the building fell down. It was on a side street.

  • I believe that last image is post 2000 after the restoration of the Ferry Building, the destruction of Embarcadero Freeway and the addition of the palm trees.

  • @CalifaJohn you are correct! It was meant to show the change in time from 1905 to modern times.

  • That's me at 2:45. I remember that day very well. I was on my way to Castro

  • Grandma, Ma and Me !
