i have 2 baby red sliders.. their tank is properly set up with a heater , fliter and uv light.... i just got them.. they're active.. but they don't eat... i put them in the bowl but they just try to escape and don't eat... is it maybe because they're not used to their tank? when will they start eating?

nice man , make shure you try n get him eating the pellets nd greens aswell otherwise they get pyramiding shell if they eat to much protien in a short period of time.

also dont skimp on the water changes to cut out the risk of whats basicly limescale on the shell , doesnt make the turtles look good , especially ure little new shiny one :)

yeah it takes time , maybe leaving a lettuce clip with some oxygen weed or just lettuce in it in the tank wud be best , at leave he can try it in the saftey of his own environment. dont be scared to stop feeding him for a day or 2, encourging him to look for other food such as the veg.

@Ayznstevenx i had to get rid of my turtles a little while back so im probably not the best person to ask now man, seek advise from someone who is still activly keeping them, perhaps the local aquatic store, a youtuber or someone along those lines. all you really need to do if i remember correctly is have a big enough tank for the turtle to grow into , if not plan to upsise as the turtle grows. check online carsheets for red ear sliders for sizes they grow to , what size tanks and even diet

@Ayznstevenx turtle pellets is a good start, they contain alot of what turtles require, lettuce is also good, carrots might work but they might be a bit hard for the turtle to properly chow down on unless they are shredded. eggwhites ive never heard of giving them to baby turtles, if your looking for something to give them protien perhaps a better alternative woulde be bloodworm ? or perhaps crickets, which would also provide some fat and calcium, but yeah find an active expert, good luck !
