(part two). Is there hypocricy in AA? Absolutely. Are there people who are working their own agenda instead of trying to help. Again, absolutely. Granted, when I entered the rooms, I was pretty much rock bottom, but thankfully, I was able to attend several meetings to gravitate to those who were not interested in being thanked, or showing how hard life is, but instead wanting to help others. AA isn't for everyone, but it's not the worst thing in the world.
isegoria You amaze me, I am not even an AA member but as a recovering addict I must question and wonder if you even understand addiction. A recovering addict is happy for anyone who chooses to stay sober no matter what method they use. The fact is that AA and NA do help some stay sober so why would anyone who supposedly cares about drug addicts trash their way of staying sober. AA does have faults and so do I and I am sure that you have some of your own. Unfortunately noone or nothing is perfect
@cowboyfan1113 Lie by special qualifiers? So because I don't agree with your cult and your made up disease I must not know what I am talking about? Next thing you know you will claim I am angry because I don't believe in your imaginary friend too.
No matter the methods? I do wonder why I have received death threats for questioning your precious cult. The irony is amazing here.
@isegoria1 I am not a member of AA so it is not my "precious little cult". As far as the disease concept I do agree with you........I am an alcoholic but I refuse to say that I have a disease simply because that is a slap in the face to a cancer patient. So i do not have "your made up disease". The only issue i have with you is that I feel you are doing harm towards people who are addicts and alcoholics. Whatever method someone uses to leave a life of drugs than so be it. Who are you to judge?
@cowboyfan1113 Who I am to judge is a family member who waited for years supporting my alcoholic family members who then got into aa only to lose them again to a frickin cult. And I agree with what Izzy says and it's good to see people like him realize and take ownership of their lives. I will judge aa because it hasn't helped my family members. sure they aren't drunk on booze anymore, just drunk on the program and themselves.
@cowboyfan1113 You stay sick with your being an "alcoholic". Why don't your grow the fuck up? It appears that you treatment as it were is never finished. Why don't you finish already and stop making sorry assed excuses? I have a life to live, why don't you try living yours and fuck off?
@isegoria1 I have no excuses for anything i have done in life and I will F off(thanks for being nice) I am not sick, i do not have a disease, did you read anything i said. The disease concept can be an excuse therefore i do not have a disease, i am someone who made some terrible decisions which screwed up my life. I do admire your passion and the time you spend making videos, I have an idea though, just make some videos telling others how u stay sober. Try to help them. I will F off now. Cya
@cowboyfan1113 I can agree with you, that is all part of growing today. Sorry I was such an ass earlier. No need to "F off". I welcome challenges. I was just pointing out that even AA knows it is not effective.
@isegoria1 No need to be sorry, i have been an ass once or twice myself. I just want to make it clear that I have no problem with you not supporting AA, I am not a member. All i am is someone who in the past screwed up my life with drugs and alcohol. I just think that all former addicts and alcoholics should try to support each other and help others to get and stay sober. Post a vid talking about your addiction and how you stay sober. I would enjoy hearing it. How long have you been sober?
@cowboyfan1113 To answer your question, I have 4 years clean and really I don't even count anymore. I would post a vid but I REALLY don't have time for this argument (pro-conAA) anymore.
isegoria1 I got nothing against you and please don't take this the wrong way, but you should change your opening sequence video. I don't know why you open your mouth twice into a huge gaping circular opening, but you are just inviting people to say that you are preparing to receive something tubular in your mouth LOL. I of course, would never say or think that, but others might.
I'm really glad there are other alternatives to AA's lies. Ration Recovery and SOS (Save Our Selves OR Secular Organization for Sobriety) are just 2. I happen to be successful on my own. I don't belong to any org or group and I've been sober for 17 years. Don't believe AAs bullshit. You DO have the power within yourself to stay sober. But if you insist on beating yourself up for the rest of your life and you enjoy thinking of yourself as a disease ridden powerless loser, then AA is for you.
Good video. The problem I have at the end of your video is where you state about the lies they dont want you to know about. My experience is that even though members with loads of time in AA are spewing foolish BS not based on anything, they dont know any different. They are just repeating mindless dogma. Of course like Jack Nicholson says they cant handle truth.
One interesting obfuscation is how some people will explain away the contradiction in the Big Book first saying that the steps are only "suggestions" and then stating that you will "almost certainly sign your death warrant" if you don't follow them. The explanation is that this only applies to those working the program of AA and not to those in non-12-step programs. No seriously, that is how they reconcile these conflicting statements. I have to go now because my head hurts thinking about it.
NA too: "we are people with the disease of addiction....our ends are always the same; jails, institutions and death....we suffer from a disease for which there is no known cure" This fear-mongering pack of lies is read out at the beginning of every meeting, along with "we know from our group experience that those why keep coming to our meetings regularly stay clean"
@godlessweasel The reason for the rhetoric of "jails, institutions, and death" comes from the beginning when most alcoholics were at that point prior to entering. Anyone who's read the most recent edition of Alcoholics Anonymous shows stories of people who entered the program prior to that, showing that one can realize they have a problem with alcohol before hitting rock bottom. Some people frown on the 'pick the winners" comments as well, just means pick someone who can balance program/life.

@WarInBed Read AA's own triennial survey - it works for NO ONE.

Actually I dislike dishonesty and when people use that dishonesty to manipulate broken people, I think it should be considered criminal.
Broken people should be helped, not further broken.
