  • Thanks for sharing. Bill Charmelo was my dad. We only have a single copy of this album... would love to have it to download. Great memories of my dad who passed 13 years ago.

  • great clip keep it up =)

  • so i just moved right .. i start talking to the neighbor down stairs 2 older ladies come to find out .. the the twins on this album ... the seen me moving my turntables in the house and asked me to play this record .. ill try to get it and up load it here ..

  • There were 2 female lead singers, not 1- they were identical twins-Ellen and Elaine; both excellent singers (and they were BOTH gorgeous).... the drummer (Billy Charmelo) eventually built an entire drum set out of that 55-gallon drum, and various-sized metal paint cans- it sounded great, too! and the guitarist (Bobby Bristowski) was an excellent musician and singer as well- the band was from Chicago; they broke up in late 1971, and I lost track of everyone after that...

  • I like Joni's version, but love the harmonies on this one.

  • saw the neighborhood at a local bar when this song was popular. the drummer used a steel drum for base drum. that's right a 55 gallon steel drum cut in half. And the Girl singer was UN-FREAKING BELIEVE-ABLE. SHORT WITH LONG BLACK HAIR. and BAZOOOOMMMMS OUT TO HERE AND LOOKS? WOW. THE MUSIC WAS GOOD TOO. i THINK. all of this of this in fond du lac wisconsin

  • Love this version! why isn't this available as a CD or an iTunes download. Sure Joni's version is available, but this is MUCH better.

  • This was far and away the best version of Big Yellow Taxi. Heard it on KFRE out of Fresno back when the top 50 were played every Wednesday night. Didn't buy it on a 5 at the time, and then spent the next 45 years trying to find a copy. Glad it made it onto the net.

  • great version!

  • I remember this in Spring of 1970--had huge radio play well before I heard the Joni Mitchell Version.

    Miss this song!

  • @steve7138 Same with me. Played a ton on WIP in Philly. They never played the Joni Mitchell version.

  • It is far and away the best version of this song....brings back many fond memories of the Summer of '70!!

  • @Mklhorvath Who made this version? I only know the Joni version and some other.

  • @SiouxSyndicate If I remember correctly, they were some studio back up singers and commerical jingle singers. A hard to find copy. I had it at the time but wore it out big time.

  • straight vinal, bro, if course it will be the best version

  • This is the best version of the song I've ever heard.
