I don't understand? How!? WHY!?! Nobody could replace Chris O'Dowd (he really does play the perfect unsanitary slacker), not even Joel McHale. Why? Richard Ayoade in my opinion isn't the most important out of the two, people can relate (at least I can) to the slack, dirty, rude IT Technician that is Roy.
if there was a US theme it would not be viewed by US citizens as it would be blocked by UK Gov. in an attempt to keep England media to them selfs. Don't get me wrong I am sure America is doing the same thing. Now don't we all feel better now that no one knows anything.
"On 30 July 2010, Linehan confirmed that a US version of the show is back on, with possible changes due to negative reactions." -I cant find US episodes on YT, so i dont think they really aired US version. (Actually it might be good series)
This is the most terrible thing ever ¬_¬ it has deeply frustrated me that once again americans have taken one of our awesome shows, butchered it so much that its shit and then thrown it back out and expected it to be as great as the original. You already did it with Skins and Shameless...please stop! Create your own kind of comedy! You're good at that!
@DaRkLoRd1061 Lots of good shows never aired. Lots of crappy shows made it to air. It's about what will be popular, not necessarily what is good. Maybe the focus group test audience found it too highbrow
Eh? The animated Roy still clearly shares a likeness with Chris O'Dowd, and the new character was added really awkwardly. This is a major fail along with every other American remake.
@Chic1110 oh, i agree.... with only one exception. the US version of 'The Office' is faaaar superior to the British one. but yeah.... American it crowd... boooo
American Office, I think, never quite made it back to the standard of when the Brits were in charge. It breaks the stereotype, being an American remake which is actually good, but never as good as the original.
I just don't understand what American's problem with British TV is... Why can't they just watch the originals. The accents aren't too hard to understand, and, in general, British TV takes American TV to the cleaner's.
@SuperRichi1A oh, i like british tv =) keeping up appearances, Misfits, Doctor Who, it crowd, Penn and Teller: Fool Us. just, in the case of the office... American one is way better =/ only problem i have with british tv are some of the references lol but that is only because i do not live there :P like mainly with jokes, they reference celebs and people i just have no idea who or why the joke is funny XD
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on the Office then, either way, they're both pretty awsome so what does it matter? :)
Fool Us is brilliant, love that! Wossy makes it so funny :) No one over here has ever heard of Penn and Teller though, which is a shame. It's all Derren Brown and Dynamo.
Neither am I much, but I guess over here in the UK it's harder to miss TV shows like theirs, because there are fewer channels, and only a few very popular channels.
Basically, they're probably the 2 best "trick" magicians in the world, and do live shows in Vegas, but have a show calleed "Fool Us" over here, you should look them up, some of the things they do is amasing. Same with Brown, who can trick people into doing almost anything and Dynamo, who once walked on water.
@SuperRichi1A oh, i know, i said i DO watch Fool us lol just, some of the jokes the Jonathan Ross does, i do not get :P yeah, we got tons of channels over here XD and our shows last about 20+ eps a season. some are shorter, like Dexter (12) and such. but that is a premium channel show.
I get jelous of you US guys getting such long seasons. An average season here is 6 episodes (Doctor Who, Primeval), or 13 episodes (pre-2011 Doctor Who, Merlin etc), then we have things like Sherlock, 3 episodes...
Ah well, I guess that means a bigger budget for each one, and we get to appreciate it more. Loved Smallville though.
@SuperRichi1A i tried to like smallville.... (i am a huge superman fan) but it never did anything for me =/ do you guys get Community, Big Bang Theory, Fringe, or Supernatural?
Smallville is pretty small over here to be honest, and often in its early years it was just as miss as hit, but it became realy good later on, so I asked my cousin from the US to record it and send it to me, I didn't fancy watching it at 1am on "More 4" on Monday nights.

@thagrammarnazi Community is by far the best show out there at the moment, you gotta watch it online, and a US IT Crowd with Joel Mchale would be awesome.
@pyro2662 my guess would be because this is the american version im not a a racist though and i think its nice that hes black but its just i dont know if hes as funny as the UK version yet so i dont know if i like this boss better or not
Oh god, who plays Richmond?!
