The reason Daybreakers isn't getting good reviews from about half of the people who have seen/heard of it, it because movies and tv shows like True Blood, Twilight, and the Vampire Diaries have us all wound up for the big romance/revenge scenes with either hardly any blood and gore, or just not that realistic blood and gore. They probably expected a puffed-up vampire flick when "all they got" was a more "realistic" (God help us) view on what the world would most likely be like in a world overrun
@RealBronzeClaws by vampires. I liked how the movie stayed true to the 'burn in sunlight, stake to the heart, fang-having' vampires. Though I would have preferred Ethan Hawke to show a little more emotion, when you think about, none of the vampires showed a major amount of emotion except for when it came to family, suicide, or blood. Isabelle most certainly did not act very well and she felt a little unneeded in the story which is most likely why she was mutated by the writers and then burned

Like many people...I thought the plot was reat, but they didn't present it very well. I liked most of the scenes, but the ending was a bit disappointing. I expected a more powerful scene and a better idea to end the story, but I gotta say that bat still scared me at the end as much as if did at the begining.
Also, what was up with the boss's girl? I thought she would have a stronger part in the movie. As for Elvis and Edward, they were awesome. (strange that it was the same name in Twilight.)

i think 3.5 is a lot for this movie! the ending was silly imo. the story could be a lot better, but i agree the concept and the idea of it was interesting.
I liked the concept of the movie, and there were some big name actors. However, the execution could have been better and there really was no closure. I am glad I saw Daybreakers, but I do not have to see this film again.

I thought this was a fairly decent movie. The parts that are meant to make you jump, work quite well. The gore, which I seem to have a penchant for, was not skimped on.
This movie is marmite, you love it or you hate it xD....I hated it, as did the 7 friends I went to see it with xD to label it 'horror' or even thriller is a crime xD I was laughing the whole way through...didn't jump once, concept is good but not executed well. Excellent concept and set up. Zombie post apocalypse world surrounded by political unrest, poor writting and mediocre acting, but fantastic set design.

It is simply too short to do the subject justice. It should have been a trilogy, like The Matrix. It was hard enough to put a very simple concept like the story in Avatar (awesome movie!) into just three hours, and there is a lot more going on in the Daybreakers storyline. Imagine if Lord of the Rings was crammed into just one movie, how crappy it would have been.

Funny you mention the girls acting in the scene where the vampires catch them. Her acting was so bad I couldn't figure out if she was working with the vampires or what was going on. She just didn't have any emotion or proper emotion for the scene.
I rather enjoyed this movie and thought the concept was pretty dam cool. Unfortunately it had some holes in the story that they didn't bother to fill. Otherwise I really did enjoy it and got into the story.

I brought up the same concept on IMDB's forum. My guess is that this alternate world doesn't share all of our scientific breakthroughs. That or we were too busy fighting vampires to discover cloning. Also, breeding them like cattle would have created a much different film, see Clonus aka The Clonus Horror.

Critiquing a movie is much tougher now a days; mainly because it can be biased. However, the story had a good touch on it, but haven't you all seen this before...in I Am LEGEND? Just asking.
It's rated R for extreme violence, language, and some nudity. The violence involves decapitation and burning. The nudity may not even be real, could be dolls/ mannequins or CGI. If your kids are interested then let them watch it. They will someday become adults so get used to it.

Well kids these days don't know what real vampires are. However, they that sparkle in sunlight is more accurate to Dracula than they which combust into flames. Dracula never did that. He could walk around in sunlight, with the exception that he lost most of his powers at night. Nevertheless, Twilight's vampires are too freaking strong for my book. It'd be war if they fought with these vampires...that is if they could keep themselves from making out with the humans. lol
I thought this movie was preety awesome and loved the whole new take on the vampire genre! It was different and definitely anti-twilight! And I agree with you on the actress Isabel from Transformers 2 she was completely useless in my opinion and that was funny how you put that little jingle from Reading Rainbow lol

It's a matter of branding. Not like it's likely to happen, but the idea is to in some way protect my reviews from being passed off as someone else's. Also the new lighting effect on it is evocative of TV graphics, well that's the idea any how.
By the movies end, I didn't care enough for the chracters. I would've gladly sat through an additional hour of greatly-needed character development. Maybe I wouldn'tve wished Willem Dafoes character died.

The first part of the movie showed amazing potential and I was surprised by the interesting premise. My mic produces a lot of noise, hissing sounds. I have to remove them digitally, and on the consequence is the Ben Stein effect. I've ordered a new mic and hope to use it in my next review.
I havent seen it yet but surprising score. I'd of pegged this as just an average movie based on the trailer. I find it somewhat strange tho how we're suppose to root for the vampire characters when they've killed off most of the human race. Thats kinda like being asked to root for the machines in the matrix. I don't understand how do they keep the whole society running, do they change all the politicians and important business people into vampires too?
When I saw the trailer I was puzzled why Willem and Ethan were in this type of action/vampire genre of film. Your review was not expected. I will have to give this a look.

the storyline was great for which people went out to watch the movie

It is simply too short to do the subject justice. It should have been a trilogy, like The Matrix. It was hard enough to put a very simple concept like the story in Avatar (awesome movie!) into just three hours, and there is a lot more going on in the Daybreakers storyline. Imagine if Lord of the Rings was crammed into just one movie, how crappy it would have been.

Funny you mention the girls acting in the scene where the vampires catch them. Her acting was so bad I couldn't figure out if she was working with the vampires or what was going on. She just didn't have any emotion or proper emotion for the scene.

OH my god are you kidding me? your such a douche this was the worst movie EVER. it was so overly gory and it got really silly at times like the soldiers feeding frenzy when they turned into humans then some over vamps ate them then they were humans etc. also the ENDING. so basically the three of them are now SCREWED and the whole 'finding a cure' thing was completely pointless, so the whole movie was a waste of time. fabulous.

I brought up the same concept on IMDB's forum. My guess is that this alternate world doesn't share all of our scientific breakthroughs. That or we were too busy fighting vampires to discover cloning. Also, breeding them like cattle would have created a much different film, see Clonus aka The Clonus Horror.

It's rated R for extreme violence, language, and some nudity. The violence involves decapitation and burning. The nudity may not even be real, could be dolls/ mannequins or CGI. If your kids are interested then let them watch it. They will someday become adults so get used to it.

I really enjoyed the movie. Some people didn't like the opened ended ending. This one really annoying teeny bopper was talking on her phone saying she didn't like it because it was scary in some parts. She was obviously of the sparkling vampire crowd

Well kids these days don't know what real vampires are. However, they that sparkle in sunlight is more accurate to Dracula than they which combust into flames. Dracula never did that. He could walk around in sunlight, with the exception that he lost most of his powers at night. Nevertheless, Twilight's vampires are too freaking strong for my book. It'd be war if they fought with these vampires...that is if they could keep themselves from making out with the humans. lol

And I agree with you on the actress Isabel from Transformers 2 she was completely useless in my opinion and that was funny how you put that little jingle from Reading Rainbow lol

It's a matter of branding. Not like it's likely to happen, but the idea is to in some way protect my reviews from being passed off as someone else's. Also the new lighting effect on it is evocative of TV graphics, well that's the idea any how.

By the movies end, I didn't care enough for the chracters. I would've gladly sat through an additional hour of greatly-needed character development. Maybe I wouldn'tve wished Willem Dafoes character died.

I'll have to disagree with you here. I throughly enjoyed this movie, but I came out after watching the entire film...disappointed. The first part of the movie showed amazing potential and I was surprised by the interesting premise. However, I found the story to be poorly executed and some characters just annoying that should've been outright cut out. The story,personality and history of everyone besides ethan hawke isnt elaborated or atleast heard very little

I havent seen it yet but surprising score. I'd of pegged this as just an average movie based on the trailer. I find it somewhat strange tho how we're suppose to root for the vampire characters when they've killed off most of the human race. Thats kinda like being asked to root for the machines in the matrix. I don't understand how do they keep the whole society running, do they change all the politicians and important business people into vampires too?
