Jeff Porcaro was THE drummer for all drummers for all time. Couldn't have made it without him. How many female drummers do you see out there? Jeff was my inspiration from age 11. I love this clip 'cos we get to hear his breathtaking speaking voice in addition to his groove. <3
@CallMeCygnus What IS the name of this tune? I have the vinyl record, but have yet to listen to the entire thing, now posted here for everyone's listening pleasure. I also have the JNH CD - will be interesting to hear them one after the other. Jeff 4ever the greatest groove un-matchable irreplaceable no one did it better Porcaro.
Man, what a pocket! Such an incredible musician Jeff is and was. It should be every drummer's goal to make a song groove even a fraction as effortlessly as Jeff Porcaro.
Yes! Yes!!!! Thank you.....thank you for posting The Paiste sounds with Jeff, and Bill, and Chester and Bozzio... I am a Paiste Artist and was looking for this for years! I have the sound sheets but cant lay them anywhere! thanks...FANTASTIC!
Thank you so much for sharing. I had a copy of this but those disc's would wear out after about 10 plays and who would only want to play anything Jeff played on only 10 times! Thanks again been looking for this for about 20 yrs.
Thanks again! This tune has been in my head for the past 30 years now after listening here, I now know where it came from! Oh my Joedrums2112, you purge the memoirs!
This is what it is all about. Incredible groove and feel. It's especially refreshing beneath the shadows of double bass and the overzealous use of speed. Simply amazing. This piece illustrates why Jeff will always be an influence on my playing.
@BarbarosDerby132 Well said. I met Jeff's Mother & Father at the Vic Firth Namm Booth, and they were both very nice. I told them that their son was a big influence on me, and I miss him so much. Thanks for watching. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS2112
@juanda86 I'm sure you know Jeff was in the band TOTO, and the keyboard player David Paiche was too. David wrote this song for Jeff's MD Recording to show off PAISTE back in the 80's, Gavin was listening to the same song that I listened to then and he wanted to make it even better sounding. I think Gavin did an excellent job. Thanks for watching. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS2112
I just love Jeff's amazing groove, some people can't hear it. Purdie, Gadd, Colaiuta all have it, it's not about playing like a drum machine to the click.
@Keksdiebchen Wow I didn't even know he did a version of it too. Thanks thats cool. Paich & Porcaro made this back in the 80's, long before anyone who knew G. Harrisson. I have a lot respect for him as well. Thanks for watching. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS
@sullydude24 ...yup , i had a subscription to MD back then and like you , I played the shit out of this sound page ... best one they had ..i also liked the peter erskine one , the terry bozzio one was cool as well but this was my favorite ... I love Jeff .... and a shoutout to his dad ..the great Joe Porcaro who helped me with my jazz independance at P.I.T.
