J ai rencontré Watazumi ...Au-delà de la musique ... Au-delà ... Maître de Yokohama Katsuya récemment disparu, lui même Maître de Iwamoto Yoshikazu deux très grands ...
While staying at the L.A. Zendo of Taizan Maezumi Roshi, Watazumido would get up at 3:00am, go to the local park, and do a few hours of practice with a rokubo, or six-foot staff. He would roll the bo around the fingers of each hand, to strengthen and stretch them.
Watazumido, a former Zen master, is one of the great musicians on the planet, a master of the shakuhachi. His life and music have inspired me and spurred me to make greater efforts in every area for decades. Thanks to Steve Lacy and James Newton for introducing me to his music, and thanks to my old friend Craig Harris for posting this.
From the documentary "Sukiyaki and Chips" (presently available through streaming on Netflix)
