This is why Tarmogoyf wouldnt even be reprinted if he was bad... his only purpose as a time spiral card, particularly as future sight, is to hint off the planeswalker card type. It was one of the first mentions of them.

When I was in middle school I used to go online and print sheets of magic cards and just cut them and paste them to poster board... I don't see why "serious" players can't just do that rather than pay huge prices... sure you want the real ones just to have and collect... but if you want to actually play and win I see no problem with this cheaper logical method.

The spike in price pretty much started with the new year. January 2010 saw the first of the expanded SCG Open Legacy 5K series AND the start of an Extended PTQ season.  It may be that simple.

@KevDaCutie I doubt it will be printed in m11 I would expect Baneslayer instead of goyf. However it "will" be reprinted because it was future sighted. It could come out as soon as Rise of the Eldrazi, or it could come when goyf would rotate out of extended(think fetch lands). Personally I think it will come out when it would rotate out of extended.

@Naxx3l Yeah, we all know Tarmogoyf will eventually be reprinted. The only question is when. Since he's such a staple in any format, & there is a lack of available cards on the market, it's only wise to reprint it. Anyone who wants to start playing extended or legacy competitively needs a playset. And with $100 price tag, that's a barrier to entry that most players won't want to cross. I think reprinting Tarmogoyf @ Mythic in M11 or M12 would get more players into more competitive formats.

@KevDaCutie Disagree with it being a mythic rare. I am not sure about flavor wise but play wise most mythics are not helping new players get in to competitive magic. It might come in a core set but other extended staples have been known to be reprinted in non-core sets like fetch lands as mentioned previously. But with things like smother back in the format it would not surprise me to see goyf that early.

People were just finshed playing decks like solor flare and mystic teachings in standard and extended was all about the storm.

@skillaonthebeat2011 Fetchland and Force of Will/Brainstorm/Daze/Swords to Plowshares is almost assuredly two even within the first two turns of game. Another creature is going to die probably too (since, you know, you're either playing against another creature deck with things you need to kill or a control deck which is going to kill your stuff), plus sorceries aren't that uncommon, so usually by turn 3 or 4, Tarm is like 4/5. And this is generally in an average game.

@umpa22AL Because it is a really good card, it is a highly demanded card and it is a mythic rare so the supply is a lot lower. There are about 407 baneslayers you can buy from online stores thats it that is a play set for 101 people. Lots of people want them but can't afford them like my self and as long as people are willing to pay $45-$60 they will be expensive.
