  • Finland!

  • What's this necklace at 0:18 ?!

  • @Linedwell51 its a swaskika-Jorma wore it to illustrate the fact that the nazi's stole it from the ancient Indian symbol-Jorma was not a nazi

  • @culls33 Thanks a lot

  • @Linedwell51 If you're mirroring swastika it becomes a very old asian peace sign. Hitler fucked the whole thing up

  • The BEST blues song in the WORLD!!

  • I love how Gracie does nothing else but looking good and gets all the shots!!

  • 1 dislike ?!? haha too many beers and pressed the wrong button ..

  • He's got the same voice than Alvin Lee

  • Jorma's great in this song...Love it!

  • The cameraman always spent to much time looking at Grace

  • intoxifying!!!!! just soooo fucken amazing

  • A terrific song! I was wondering about the necklace too! I am glad it's Navajo!

  • Just great!!!

  • Thumb up for these guys

  • Jorma on the swastika necklace: “It is a piece on Navajo pawn silver that I bought at a trading post in the early sixties. That’s what it meant to me… The symbol of the four winds, four seasons etc. The overriding power of symbols is undeniable. Is it important what it meant to me as opposed to what you and others think when you see it? At the time, I would have said ‘Yes. I know what it means to me and it doesn’t matter what you think!’ Would I say that today. Absolutely not.”

  • damn i luv this song

  • Anybody notice Jorma is wearing a swastica necklace?

  • @MrPinkfloydfan420 Yeah haha. When I first noticed it, my jaw kind of dropped. But then I found out that it is also the symbol for tranquility in Buddhism, which totally preceded Nazism :)

  • I aint no hobo

  • whos the lead singer playing the guitar sorry i dont no much about them?

  • @007jkirk Jorma Kaukonen

  • @suippumadonlakki aha thanks :) he's really good

  • The swastika is actually one of the most common symbols in history. Almost every civilisation has had a version of it. I think the current explanation for the swastika phenomenon is that it is a depiction of asteroids entering the earths atmosphere, which would explain how cultures that never encountered one another have a staggeringly simmilar symbol. It's well worth reading about.

  • Someone dislikes Jefferson Airplane, shame on that person.

  • god, kaukonen is awesome. people compare him to like metal guitarists and say he's slow but that's like comparing a flower and a lion lol.

such beautiful people, really gotta appreciate these cats!

  • Grace was beautiful, beautiful eyes

  • FUCKIN JORMA!!!

  • Cool Go Jorma !!!

  • Very beginning reminds me of Red House.

  • "evil men make me kill ya, evil men make u kill me, even though we are family apart" war according to Jimi Hendrix

  • That one poor fool missed the like button. God forgive him.

  • qui si vola !! fantastic music..

  • the bass player is amazing

  • why does he have a swatiska?

  • What a sweet little fox you are Grace. Now and then. This cut is a favorite from Hot Tuna : Red. Yep, the dumbasses still mistakenly think they are running things. Ha. One of my favorite albums ever : Blows against the Empire. Paul Kantner, David Crosby, Marty Balin - Three of the luckiest stiffs to have walked. They loved you. So do I. Peace Life Love Light baby

  • Am i the only one that has realized that this sounds a lot like Red House by Jimi Hendrix

  • @ty970 It just sounds like blues

  • 40 yrs ago people got drafted,

now with no opportunities for work,

    here,

    they enlist (for free).

  • This is Blues.

  • @mxe67560 Agree

  • grace slick is a babe

  • one of the best blues that i ever heard

  • THIS IS MUSIC !!!!!!!!

  • @Plutonium57 that was funny : )

  • peace and love for ever

  • the swastica was also a greek symbol for power and is seen on many battle helmets from ancient greece, and was an ancient egyptian symbol for peace

  • the camera keeps on filming grace slick, as if she was the only star in this band..

  • grande musica...

  • Jorma's guitar TEXTURE is absolutely unique.

  • I tend to like the songs that feature Grace more, but I think this is my favorite Jefferson Airplane song.

  • She a TOTAL stoner!

  • this is actually hot tuna

  • tabs anyone?

  • Grace Slick exudes sex and lust

  • This is why Jorma is my favorite guitarist. 10 bucks says Grace fucked him at the end of this night. Look at the way she's looking at him.

  • @GilbertsonDerick ... you win. lol

  • @GilbertsonDerick She fucked them all, apart from Balin. He reckons he didn't want her, but my feeling is, she never found him as spunky as the other guys.

  • @GilbertsonDerick Man, she's just high.

  • lol what is everyone talking about. The swastika is reversed which means PEACE.

  • he's not wearing it because of hinduism, but because he's Finnish and it was the national symbol of Finland adopted around 1910 long before the Nazis used it.

  • Not the national symbol, but the symbol of Finnish airforce.

  • This symbol was used by dozens of cultures in different times and regions.

  • i think they are playing with the band hot tuna as well

  • @canadiansk8er1234567 Hot tuna was Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady who got Paul Kantner , and drummer Joey Covington to play as a side project of JA. They were all members of the airplane so You are right but they were not a band of separate people. They introduced Papa John Creach into HT then JA on violin. Originally HT were going to be called Hot Shit but their record company thought it wasn't commercial enough. They also started off as an acoustic blues band.

  • Like 1JimiJames1 allready said before that's a swastik Symbol, it's existed from out the hinduism and jainism

  • 40 years later still war but now no protest songs. sad sad

  • @baptist Not on such a massive scale, but Kevin Devine writes some I think.. check him out.. he's awesome...

  • Its a war against terror !!

All Mighty WarLord george bushy start it, do you even dare think to protest?

    You terrorist asshole !

  • it's not a war on terror

    but whatever

  • @baptist did you ever listen to metal buddy? ;)

  • @baptist You are SO right. Those were heady positive days. Maybe there's just no hope left for this generation that we can make a difference through music...?

  • @baptist - right on

  • @baptist There's a heap but the music industry doesn't want them because they don't sell records anymore, it's the mindset of our society that's changed not the folks trying to express their ideas through music. There was always money to be made in music before, but now there is only money to be made and the rest is sadly irrelevant. :(

  • @baptist then make one! haha!

  • @baptist Then make one! Haha! I will support you!

  • @baptist cause theres no draft

  • @baptist

That is entirely untrue. There are tons of songs in protest of the war, of all of the atrocities being committed by people.

Songs full of rage, passion, grief, raw energy. People expressing their frustration with the system.

    Heartfelt, beautiful music.

  • @baptist.......... then write one

  • @baptist not entirely true, Neil Young has made protest songs about the war in Iraq.

  • @MarcBeckK ha ya but neil young blows

  • awesome

  • Stop making a big deal of the swastika. It's not even the same kind of swastika the nazis used. Their's was slanted. And besides in many cultures long before the nazis it was a symbol for good luck, the sun, and balance between the seasons. (Depending on which culture you look at it.)

  • it represents the 4 seasons and the egyptian sun god horus-ra, and the peace sign is a druid ritual death rune. our knowledge of symbology is upside down, literally.

  • ...is as does, man....

  • reminds me of the urban shakedancers

  • The Nazis were not the only ones to use the swastika, so its meaning is not limited to the atrociousness they associated with it.

You see it, for example, in some Hindu structures on Bali.

I don't know why he wore, but it does not mean that he ever considered himself a Nazi. I have not read his blog, but his regret may stem from those who misunderstood what it stood for for him.

  • dude that isn't the swastika its a sign for peace man the Nazis were slanted

  • Young, impressionable & arrogant...No foul for Jorma.

  • Jorma is in fact a proud Jew and regrets ever wearing that around his neck according to his blog posting on 10/12/09.

    Ya'sha Koach, Jorma!

  • awesome video. you know i laugh my ass off reading these swastika comments. i think its a very cool symbol, it has many meanings, its aincent, and i have a few on my harley and one on my cut. some like it some dont, its their problem not mine. i just wear it because to me its a symbol of good luck. plus the reactions are hillarious. it wards off the idiots and fools. but the hell with all that this video is awesome.

  • Not JA.

  • Comment removed

  • Surfer crosses.

  • dude its not a swastika hes wearing its a peace sign swastika is slanted man that comment makes you sound like a poser

  • Jorma rocks!

  • How can you argue with Jorma, Jack, and Phil? Great stuff.

  • grace slick was FUCKED at woodstock, definition of the end of sixties ... jefferson airplane ROCKED at monterey pop two years earlier, and while they still were awesome here, you can see the end is near hahaha

  • all i need to say is Jorma

  • sounds like red house by hendrix

  • Jorma!!!!

  • do you have this video in HQ sound or at least louder...can bearly hear it hanks

  • Of all of the versions of this song I've heard, this one is the best.

  • I'm sure this probably isn't important, nor does it explain the use of the necklace, but the swastika does have significance in Finland, it's still on some of their national flags and seals.

  • i beleive its a peace simbol

  • This is fantastic! He can sure play, init?

  • It's actually Rock Me Baby, just changed the words.

  • ur right i didnt even realize that

  • one good war protest song and the ja be jammin' mon ese!

  • Damn, people, half of the american youth aged roughly in the 20s during the 60s wore that same necklace.

Jorma was and still is one of the greatest blues guitar players around, and according to what I've seen of him in interviews and such, he had no interest in 'shocking people', he just played his damn guitar. So just listen to the damn man and shut it so others can enjoy him as well.

  • man jorma has his own distinct sound and its awesome!

  • Comment removed

  • Once for all: Jorma Kaukonen is hal jewish and half Finnish.

He obviously wore that necklace only to provoke.

And maybe he referred to the real true meaning of Swastika, wich is a buddhism symbol that means the sun.

    STOP!!!!!

  • Yeah, man! Haven't you seen/read "The DaVinci Code?" The "swastika" was an ancient symbol the Nazi's adopted for their "cause." Gotta read and research stuff more, m'friend.

  • no, swastika was a symbol originally used by the buddhist religion. It was a simplyfied imagine of the sun. If you see some pictures of ancient chinese-indian clothes, you'll se lots of swastika paintings on them.

  • So the Buddhists' used the symbol recently or since ancient times, which is what I said(the ancient bit) if you took time to read my comment? I didn't say it was the Nazi's "original" symbol, I stated a fact that the Nazi's adopted the symbol, thus tainting it forever...

  • the buddist swastika is clockwise, the nazi's is counter-clock wise thast the difference

  • @zolf1988 Also the original swastika was the other way round from the nazi one

  • @zolf1988 yeah but it's reversed

  • Comment removed

  • @zolf1988 One thing I can tell you mr is that the swastika symbol is much much older than Buddhism

  • @zolf1988

It is still in use all across the Far East.

It represents luck and pride of endless resurection from ashes.

    Trully the magnificent simbol!

  • @zolf1988 the religious symbol is square, not tilted on its side like when Hitler used it.

  • @GyspyTrain A sun wheel is round and unbroken...

  • @zolf1988 it was actually older than htat: it meant the eternity of life ages before that

  • @zolf1988:

aölso, the nazi swastika is rotated always by 45°

  • What Zorma wear is an icon of Buddism. all buddis temples have that on their buildings like churches have cross. (and Buddha, he had nothing to do with Nazi, of course!)

  • The Nazis were heavily into the occult so they took a 'good' symbol and reversed it to the Swastika as a symbol of evil - those rat-fucks were sick from the get-go!!!

  • Grace looks so high.

    XD

  • does anybody please have any idea how she got her hair up in that afro???

I've been wanting to find out how Noel Redding also did this. and Mitch Mitchell. Can someone please tell me what they do with their hair???!?!! PLEASE!?

  • y loveeeeeeee grace slickkk ,como me gustaa esta mujerr la hermosura personificada, tengo 22 años ja no para de firmarrr, posteo en todos lados.claudio rodriguez

  • is it just me or is that a nazi symbol around the guitarists neck at 0:20

  • yep! You're right! It never died, just sublimed.

  • hes weearing it because before the nazis used the swastika it was a popular religious symbol used in religioins like hinduism

  • yeah, somethin like that

  • its a symbol for the sun

  • Among many other things. But certainly given that this was a guitar player from Europe, WW2 was little more than 25 years old, the meaning of it was obvious. It is particularly curious that today the strongers resurgence of Nazism are underground movements in Scandanavian countries (see Saga videos on Utube) have nazi sympathies. The idea that one could wear a swastika in that time and not have some relationship to Nazism is far fetched.

  • Man, Jorma is of Sweish and Jewish descent.

    How can jew support nazis?

  • Man, Jorma is of Finnish and Jewish descent!

How can a Jew support nazis?

  • good question! How could he wear such a symbol so recent after WWII? Or has the history of what happened in WWII changed from then and now? I cant believe he did not have any identification of this symbol and nazism.

  • He clearly takes it as it's original meaning. A hindu symbol of peace

  • At the minimum it was a double entente. It was quite common in that era to take history and correct it since everything that authorities said was construed to be distortion. For example, the VW bug was very popular. A poster was well circulated with Adoph Hitler pointing at the VW assembly line with the quote "good thinking makes good things happen!"

  • you have to document yourself more!!! The equilateral cross with bent arms or the svastika is originally a symbol of light, being the representation of the sun! It appears in many cultures, from Hindu to the Romans, Norse, American Indians! The Nazis just turned it around and gave it an opposed meaning!

  • first thing: fascism is just the extreme platform of free market, republican party reganomics, mussolini and hitler had economic theories that the super wealthy, the ruling class, loved. thats how jews can be for nazis. republican party = nazi party then and now.

    two- jotma likes shocking people.

  • It's not. It is from hinduism and means "a sane spirit in a sane body".

Sry for my bad english :)

  • originaly a buddist symbol man

  • thanks for uploading!

  • Hey I love this song! thanks for posting!
