@MrDancer5293 That one was incredible... In fact, all of them were o_O The strength needed to do all of them must be insane :O Why did it end so early? It was getting more interesting -_-
This, in ballroom world, is called theatrical or "cabaret"... it's show dance, but not any particular style. Lots of lifts and drama. amazing! This couple was on a show a few years ago with dancers from all over the world... they're breathtaking and both gorgeous.
i found what style this is: it is ballroom, and it's called cabaret. this two dancers are eric luna and georgia ambarian, they have won the us national cabaret championship and the world cabaret championship
Their names are Eric Luna and Georgia Ambarian. They're really nice, I've met them at a few competitions I've been in. I got to dance with Eric, it was really cool :)
I love how they incorportated lots of different styles of dance (took the best parts of a bunch) and added their own. Very cool. I mean, for example, their were some lifts that are almost exact slowed down copies of swing lifts, and there were some that were very similar to pair skating moves (I'm almost sure I saw a bounce spin in there, but without being on ice). I think that's really neat.
This is one part of Ballroom called Cabaret or Theater Arts. The first time I saw something like this was in the 70s. It used to be on TV a few times a year, but now hardly anymore.
It's rediculous to write that as a comment. The video is here for entertainment purposes, they are entertainers. I don't see where it said they were professional dancers.
The problem with so many dancers is that they are so stuck up they cannot appreciate art, skill and interpretation. Think outside the box and stop being a moany critic!
I hate to break it to you, but not every dance has Jazz Hands, Ballet Hands, Blades, or Fists.
And when did we establish a to-the-tee definition of what dance is and isn't?
Do you think they called Martha Graham's choreography dancing back then? Not so much. But look at what it did for us now. If you have any breath-like contractions in your dance, that's where it started.
Wow! I absolutely love it. I want to learn all of these moves. How is she so graceful? I can do some pretty big and neat lifts but I don't look that graceful. Anyone have any tips?
yeh but speaking from experience, id rather have my partners hand somewhere awkward for five minutes than fall and lose my career! sometimes when im dancing with someone its like, yeh its ok, grab me there and hold on tight, id rather that than crash into the floor!
Tell me, please, how She can trust him...! How she can know - He will not hurt Her! You need to know one to trust Him like that!!! Dose anybody cares what´s going on in her mind... every time she falls... in his arms...! She just a little women - what if... one stupid mistake...I bet she was hurt before at the rehersals!?
yea, as a dancer I know that it doesn't always turn out perfect! but that means I also understand how you can trust your partner. It's kinda like how you would trust your best friend to keep all your secrets, you just know them well enough to know how bad they would feel if they dropped you and they they will try as hard as they can not to.
All music is from the "V for Vendetta" soundtrack. The middle section - with the rather dramatic lift off the floor and to the chest - is entitled "Evey Reborn." It gives me goose bumps.
I remember seeing this number-- it was in the Cabaret section of the ballroom dance program, I am almost positive. The cabaret style is actually very interesting and the most risky--here this couple takes it to the extremes though. Not as pretty to watch but it is amazing!
yeah this was amazing but it was just lifts. that was one of the best lift routines i have seen but it wasn't a dance like it could have been. still it was pretty awsome
OMG, this guy is Hercules. And I could only imagine the amount of bruises that girl has, unless she developed thick skin. I'd say that this is a contemporary. Thanks for sharing!
hah funny seeing them on here...georgia also performed this with a broken toe i believe, back in october last year in orlando. was an awesome performance! use to work at same studio as them :P
I am familiar with this kind of dance, because I take latin and ballroom lessons, and my instructor was a cabaret dancer and he also performed on american ballroom challenge. I believe he know's eric luna as well. I almost want to call it a cabaret but i think Live2Dance is right, it's more of a lyrical, contemporary dance. and yes, that requires a ridiculous amout of STRENGHTH, Coordination, and TRUST between the couple. wow, this is amazing.
Something many people fail to realize is that the woman also has to be extremely athletic and flexible as well, and the man has to have great coordination and balance, not to metion brute strength ( dance girls aren't twigs! we have a ton of leg and core muscles, and muscle weighs more than fat! )
Their preformance is very dramatic, which is to be expected since lyrical involves communication without words, a dancer's moves melding with the song to portray a story or feeling. You should probably google " hall of fame dance challenge " They have a list of videos, many of which are lyrical. Group and duets are always stunning.
This style is known by many names, and has lots of different variations. Typicaly it is called lyrical, b ut is also known as lyrical jazz, lyrical ballet, modern, and contemporary. They are each a bit different, but center around the same core moves portrayed in different ways.
Freakin amazing!

That looks more like circus tricks than dance. They look untrained as far as dancing goes - ugly feet and hands, for example.
There's no real dancing - just shifting from one lift to another. I did not enjoy this performance at all. It was a mess.
SonyaNatalia 3 years ago
agree about the hands and feet but my god! them lifts... makes any dance look good
shanesbirdhilz 3 years ago
I agree with the no dancing part, but your crazy if you didnt enjoy it at all. it was very entertaining, but again, was not real dance.
