If you do a bit of research, the Imam of this proposed "mosque" has a record of moderate preaching, pro-USA views, and has been on many occasions employed by the US government to participate in goodwill missions abroad. You will see that according to that poll conducted in May 2007, when asked about 9/11, "Just 40% of Muslim Americans say groups of Arabs carried out those attacks." @crusader92 These conspiracy theories are held even by non-Muslim 9/11 truthers -- they are fringe groups but we don't put them in the same bed as extremists out to kill America. By moderate Muslim, we mean people who are part of the American dream, who are here to live their lives and raise their families like the rest of us. Muslims like the guy who designed the Sears tower, the Muslims who serve America in Iraq, the Muslims who serve in the government, and so on.

Also, would you say that all moderate Muslims reject the idea of killing the cartoonists of the Danish newspaper? I sure know "moderate Muslims" who celebrated 9/11, for example, but I assume you're not a Muslim, and therefore you're misinformed.

@crusader92 I don't deny that there are radical Muslims out there, and that even some American Muslims are getting radicalized. But that's the whole point of this "mosque" -- to promote moderate Islam, and to fight extremism. The so called "radical" Imam is in fact quoted as saying that America is an example of an ideal society. He loves America -- just because he has some views that many non-Muslim Huffington Post readers will have, that doesn't make him a terrorist.

@examinemailbox Correct, but as you pointed out, it's the Fundamentalist (radical) Christians who view these girls and ladies with strong contempt, whereas ALL Muslims have this view. I myself am against what I see as a decadent trend in the West, but as far as I know, many Muslims think it's sinful for a woman to even show her hair, which I find outrageous. How can we expect such people to assimilate into American culture, or even respect it?

Look at Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, UAE etc. Its not just a trend here for women to go out sporting their fav fashion gear, it just plain normal. It just takes a lot longer for some muslims make that transition into the current century. As it is for many Hindus and sikhs as well. It just a matter of time my friend! Christianity doesn't encourage promiscuity nor clothing that shows way too much skin and cleavage, but generally nations built on Christian values promote individual freedom (not just the USA). However, when I see that no women in the countries you mentioned can wear even a "decent" bikini at the beach, or show their hair in public, I wonder if it's a cultural issue, or if it comes from the Quran. Will this really ever change?

He is what you might call the ultimate role model. The Hadeath is also suppose to be read. Few Westerners know that book even exists.
