Thank you for such a kind comment. This You-Tube is a great thing isn't it!.It has opened up a whole new dimension for my interest in old records and fascination for the '20's and 30's.
We'll certainly be without a Woolworths on the high street - another part of our lives slipping away along with the "Tanner" (six old English pence). No wonder we find comfort in the past and fear for the future. Good old Albert - he was a treasure!
More disturbing change. I went in my local branch during my lunch hour - very sad to see empty shelves and sad looking staff. My Grandparents would just not have believed it, Woolworths closing?, surely not?!!.
Yes, Woollies was always there - I found one in Moenchen Gladbach in '56 which smelled like the one in Ealing and made me feel at home! But now I realise that I hadn't bought anything from them in years, ergo....
Have also seen your video of the reverse side- "Ho Hum". making it a most entertaining combination. Thanks for posting. Incidently, Albert Whelan made the very first Eclipse record.
1931 was a depression ravaged year i think, though of course i am going to be a lot more optimistic and cheery like this song.Good band in the back ground.
Thanks for another terrific recording. What excellent diction Albert Whelan had and there probably wasn't a mike in sight when he was doing his music hall act.
Thank you 85scampi for keeping people like my self so amused with your collection.

More than likely to be Jay Wilbur.
