  • Soundguy sounds like he has no idea what he is doing. Very amateur.

  • Dumbass people still think using triggers is cheating. how? explain how? all they do is turn the sound of the beater hitting the head into a clicking noise right? so how the fuck is that cheating? im so tired of hearing that.

  • @BlastBeatsful Actually, depending on the type of trigger it can make every hit sound the same volume regardless of how hard the beater hits the kick (unless they're velocity-sensitive triggers). This would technically be considered cheating as power does play a role in the sound that gets produced. So the faster you play = less power you have. I don't know what triggers JL uses. You can't 'cheat' technique, if that's what you're getting at. JL certainly has plenty of that.

  • @BlastBeatsful And, I'm not trying to start a whole argument with you or anything. I totally am of the opinion that triggers are basically necessary in a live setting, at least with Death Metal bands and the like, so that the drums can cut through everything else going on. I'm just saying how triggers could be considered cheating. I honestly don't care if people want to use them. If you can play, you can play, you know?

  • @KillingOnAdrenaline It's all good man, i appreciate the input lol.

  • @BlastBeatsful Anytime. If you haven't already, you may want to check out Marco Pitruzzella. He plays in Anomalous (awesome band) now. He's a fucking beast, too

  • john just sounded like he played a six feet under song called lacathropy in fast foward motion.

  • ok give me ur triggers trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr my brain explode, ok there's something wacky , is that guy hearing ???

  • AMONG THE LIVING

  • "Somethings is wrong with the triggers, someway they just drop my pants down... lift them up again with triggers... ok, we've got it."

  • Fantastic video and music!*****

    Olga/

  • In the sense that you can't perform doubles or heel toe with the same power as a single stroke, yes, it is "cheating". But not cheating in a negative sense, cheating to take advantage of an innovative technique. Regardless, it sounds fucking awesome.

  • @bentheiburg thank you for saying that. i dont get why some people get butt hurt over people using triggers. it sounds fucking tasty. why can't metal fans unite, thats what i want to know.

  • fuck that guy that said boo

  • hahahaha double bass sounds like golden eye 64 guns!

  • @dannyss29 they dont say triggers sounds like machine guns for nothin!

  • I was talking to John after the gig in Berlin. And he was telling me that

HE IS PLAYING HEEL TOE TECNIQUE ON AXIS LONGBOARDS!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Triggers fucking cheater

  • @Richdrum you are a moron

  • this guy is fast

  • The guitarist played Anthrax's among the living at first.

I need to check out this band, they seem incredibly technically advanced

  • i loled at the end when the bassist started playing the charlie brown theme

  • What technique does he use???

  • @i3adlad I think he uses double strokes.

  • The guy talking sounds like Jack Black

  • typewriter drums

  • mike playing his bass just leaves you speechless

  • There isn't a single member of Origin who doesn't kick arse at what they play. Saw 'em play here in Melbourne last week, all of them were amazing (Although Mike was the only one I could see from my vantage point). His fingers flew across the fret board like nobody's business... As for Longstreth... well, no comment required. 0=)

  • Mike is fucking insane on that bass....

  • Creamed mah pants at 0.56 :D

  • God DAMN.

The beats and rolls he was playing as a sound check were AWESOME.

I like spastic blast and rolls alterning and shit he's all over the place.

I could listen to a full album of his sound checks over and over again.

  • 1:26 ahaha nice ! u can see his finger shadow on his t shirt hehe, Paul kick ass

  • 0:17 eargasm

  • i jizzed myself when the bass came in

  • diese kranken assis! und sie kommen aufs breeeeeeeze :D!

  • that the fastest fucking dubble bass fuck

  • bass guitar is sick too

  • ANTHRAX FUCK YA!!!! 1:05

  • geez, i used to pride myself on my double bass work but that doesnt even sound like its a human playing it. just proof that theres always someone out there that can put you to shame at anything. pretty amazing

  • when did he start to heel toe?

  • It's not heel toe, it's double strokes.

  • wow........ what do you think heel toe is?? haha PAY ATTENTION to his FEET!!!! sway back and foward. knees stay in place!

  • It's still not heel toe, it's straight double strokes. You're retarded.

  • hahaha sure it is.....

  • TrunJun is right, i've said this on other videos.

  • saying "its not heel-toe its straight double strokes" is retarded. Heel-toe is a technique to play straight double strokes, as is the slide technique, as are a shitload of other ways.

  • heel-toe is single strokes with two motions (up/down) from each foot. It's straight doubles. You're retarded.

  • This guy is right. I do the same

  • Wow. That's quite a clean double stroke roll with his feet. Not usually impressed with double bass work.

  • Killer Bass player

  • Hail to Mike fuckin' Flores.

  • LOL at the sound guy.

  • that bassist just blows me away

  • Yeah holy shit. That bassplayer rocks.

  • the whole band does, but mostly the bassist

  • sound guy is a retard. he thinks john is misfiring cuz john is doing doubles. what is this the 80s? bro needs to keep up with the times.

  • @JadeSimonetto I'm not sure. His trigger seems to misfire every once in a while. Check out the slow beats.

  • Saw origin last night and OMG john destroyed!!!

  • john is a machine people dont realize just how good he is, people say that hes not so good, cuz all hes good at is blast beats and going really fast, thats because hes in a technical death metal band, but he has to keep up his double the ENTIRE SONG its amazing its a real mind fuck to think how someone can do this for an entire show

  • it's more like endurance. he's an amazing drummer, but he's not THAT technical. he can just endure as shitload

    <3 Origin either way

  • Depends how you define technical. I don't think only playing single strokes at super speed is extremly technical. Just endurance as you said I guess.... to me techinal is cordination , polyrythmic stuff and ofcourse speed and precision.

  • this guy is fucking amazing. saw origin in baltimore. unbelivalble

  • a machine gun wishes he was faster than john

  • YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! Fucking have some of that!! hahahaha!

  • is he using heel, toe or just single foot?

  • heel toe.

  • then it's not that impressive lol....

  • hes actually using doubles not heel toe =]

    just to correct all that!

  • what's doubles?

  • He's doing double stroke rolls with his feet. i.e. LL RR LL RR

  • John is doing doubles.

LL, RR, LL, RR, LL, RR...

  • yeah! heel toe! good technique anyway.

  • do u know any good exercises for that? and what is a good spring tension to achieve that blazing speed?

  • have to have those axis pedals

  • he uses Pearl demon drives. even though, axis are still amazing!!!

  • Fairly tight and beaters quite far back. Use Kollias' foot warmup, worked wonders for me.

  • thats what i have my iron cobras set to! but nothing compares to demon drives or longboards! thanks for the info!

  • 1:58 Tom Sawyer

  • he got sick fast feet

  • Mike Flores bass is way to hidden on the albums, pisses me off. I love this band because there isn't a weak member...

  • agree they should let mike shine more hes freakin amazing

  • @SuicidalFurby so true if they turned up the bass a little bit i think their music would b so much more powerful! i look up to longstreth being a drummer myself, his stamina for double bass is amazing!

  • @SuicidalFurby so true if they turned up the bass a little bit i think their music would b so much more powerful! i look up to longstreth being a drummer myself, his stamina for double bass is amazing!

  • Anybody notice that the guitarist was playing Anthrax for a little bit?

  • YEAH THE GOD OF BRUM

  • hells ya!! playin some anthraxxx!!

  • origin for the win in everyones opinion :D

  • Does Longstreth play heel-toe?

  • he does!

  • it's more like toe/ball of foot

  • no, he does not play heel-toe. he plays straight double strokes.

  • if anyone can show me faster feet, i'd like to see it

  • nope he uses axis longboards , well he did, now hes using pearl demon drives he just does doubles instead

  • I think that he was using cuadruples kick...

    the same as guido wizz

    listen to him

    i think is the same....

  • that is what an arpaggio sweep is supposed to sound like.

  • bassist is sooooo sick!

  • that bass player is so fucking unbelievable, just insane...an i thought alex webster is god..

  • hahaa he played an anthrax riff!!!

  • horray for ankle muscles!

  • hooray indeed!

  • Why one bass drum?

  • i don´t know... maybe

    1) when your on tour it´s harder to handle with more things....

    2) the rebound is better on one bass drum...

Ps my english sucks sorry for that man....

  • He said he prefers one kick with the double strokes now.

And yes, obviously for luggage reasons as well.

  • Among the living!

  • he's seriously soooo good, hes also extremely under rated

  • Six Feet Under and then Korn? Cool.

  • "wait now, something's wacky with those triggers"...the sound guy probably just doesn't know how fast john longstreth plays :p

  • @HPLovethrash no I think the sound guy is right. The trigger misfires every once in a while. Listen closely to the slow rhythm…

  • Hey ed Djaz hier(maat van denn)

ik zag dat je bij metalfest ook gefilmd had zet je dat ook op youtube?

    laters

    Cheers man!

    Ed

  • did he jus say..mike pornoy solo at the end of the vid lol

    john that is..

  • does anyone know what that circular grey disk is that john uses?

  • Circular grey disk? U mean on the bass drum or what?

  • no, its directly above the bass drums it looks like 2 grey plates.

  • Oh yeah. Could it be some kinda snare drum?

  • its a remo marching snare

  • You mean the cymbal?

  • how fast do u think he is goin? goddamn!

  • omg!! fucking insane the drummer not not even paying attention to what he's playing its just an everyday sound check.

  • Insane! Awesome!

  • He gets faster and faster every day! lml

  • bassist...machine...origin is made up of machines

  • PEDALS ! SO SICK !

  • omg so much talent

I don't know who is better... drummer, guitarist or bassist? they are all inhuman :D

  • that is so fucking incredible.

  • Thats hilarious, the guy thought the triggers were messed up, sooooo fast.

  • YEAH lol!

  • This is funny as fuck.... That sound guy didn't understand...........

  • i was right behind him at that exact sound check. it was even more impressive than watching it on this video. he gets very good range on his strokes and u can actually hear the acoustic kick over the triggers!

    bad asstreth

  • Omg dude thats really astounding!! i would like to see them soo bad!!

  • "Trigger Is Going Wacky"...Haha the soundguy probably hasn't heard Origin before, and doesn't realise how fast his bass drums haul ass...cause they sound fine to me...

  • Does anyone know what kind of pedal technique he uses?

  • two left, two right... and this imazingly fucking fast ;-)

  • totally sick - longstreth rules !!!

  • very nice!
