I don't know anyone else in the Bay Area who plays the guitar as amazing as Rick Vandivier. He just "knows" just what to play and when. This version of Little Wing ROCKS. And how nice to see and hear Joe Hodges in this video. He's smiling from above at this fantastic accompllshment. Congrats
WoW i mean this is probably one of the only other guys i have heard do it like SRV, I mean by that, to take a song like that and really make it his own, but still keeping it Little wing. I truly think Hendrix would be proud of this his work here!
-Great cover! I Really enjoyed the use of both acoustic and electric. The transition from a much softer, classical style to the more traditional funk/rock with the electric guitar was superb. The break and introduction to the solo brought out a lot more intensity and a much harder sound. However, it still maintained the elegance presented in the beginning which I thought was quite pleasing.
Hi Everyone, I see that Vandivier's amazing Tribute to Jimi's 'Little Wing' is getting a huge response for having just gone up. But don't be shy, we love comments. All thoughts are welcome.
From acoustic to overdriven electric to the clean electric the tones are exemplary; even more, they sift this soulful rendition into the sands of time! The rhythm section offers exactly the needed drive, soulful, driven, tasty!! The video workmanship underlines the performance and presents it as it should be. NICE!!!
Hey, I produced and designed the video, but Rick picked and worked with the sound guy to make sure the sound was up to his standards. If you have any questions, I will pass them on to him.
Hey, thanks everyone for coming to be part of this great Vandivier video launch. This is a great video of an amazing performance. Help us keep the buzz growing. Send the link to as many friends as you can and tell them to send it to theirs!
And make comments. Lots of comments. Any kind of comment is great. You don't have to be a highly knowledgeable musician. Just say what you feel.

Studied with Rick from bout 89-91. Great teacher, great player. Blew my mind with his synth guitar back then.... Way to go, Rick..

I love the way this version covers so much ground both in terms of style and technique but does so in service of the spirit of the song.
AWESOME!

What a great mixture of the delicate, tender acoustic beginning and then the killer electric transition that flies through so many nuances.
Be sure to watch this in high quality mode!
WOW!
