When I was a kid I always loved how Ariel spoke, because it was something different about it. The melody of the words were off. No wonder seeing she wasn't Swedish. Her voice sure is beautiful though. I also love the dutch version. Her voice is awesome <3 The only problem I have with it is when she sings "mens" cause it means something unpleasant in my language xD
I think it is kind of funny when someone says that for example the norwegian one is better than the danish and swedish one, when it is the same singer XD Maybe she just sounds different in the different versions, I don't know... And yes, Sissel Kyrkjebø is norwegian :) Awesome multilanguage btw ^^ :)
the English language changed way too much...I wish it would have stayed Anglo Saxon then it would have sounded like German and Dutch...English ruins the flow of this video
speak danish and english , understand norwegian and swedish and when concetrating I also understand german (and ofcource austrian german) the other languages makes no sence to me what so ever :s
If English would have stayed Anglo-Saxon instead of mixing with Spanish, it would have sounded like a mix between Dutch and German..but alas English went through too many changes and so it's no longer a west Germanic language like it once was
@RsGhost1: English is really really close to Dutch and that's why I can understand Dutch without even trying..it's sad that Anglo-Saxon mixed with Spanish and became it's own diluted language (English)
@silenteyesspy English is not close to Dutch at all :S Old English is, but modern English and Dutch similarities are slim. German and Dutch are much more similar.
@RsGhost1: nah, jou=you je=ye jij=thou..wat=what in german it's was..zie=see, diep=deep, ijs=ice, water, water in german it's wasser, was=was in german it's wurde..vriend, friend in german it's freund, is, is in german it's ist..I can keep going with the similarities between Dutch and English if you'd like me to
@silenteyesspy So to back your claim that English and Dutch are similar you conjure up some basic words? I can name infinitely more vocabulary differences than you can name similarities, that's because Dutch vocabulary is pretty much all Germanic, whereas the majority of English words derived from French/Latin. But first, let me correct your mistakes, you = jij, je is not ye, thou = gij, wurde = werd = was in English.
@silenteyesspy Alright, vocabulary-wise, there are some similarites. Not nearly as many as French though, since as stated English words are mostly French/Latin and Dutch words are not. A language consists of more than just words, it's about grammar mostly. And take my word as a native speaker for it, there are no similarities or whatsoever between Dutch and English, grammar-wise.Pronunciation-wise, same story. If you look deeper than just some random words, Dutch and English are not alike at all
@RsGhost1: my original claim is about words themselves..that's how I can listen to Dutch and pick up on words and know what's going on..but grammar wise of course there's no similarities...that's why when I write Dutch I write like I do in English..
All versions sound so wonderful. I only speak English and a little Swedish (I study it but I suck at it D':) but I want to study other Germanic languages someday too. Norwegian sounds so amazing here, even better than Swedish and Danish. I heard that the singer sings in her own language so maybe that's the reason... however, 5 stars!
Thanks a lot! :D And surely you speak two... English and German? xD People often forget that English is a Germanic language though. :P I speak two as well - English and Swedish. :D I want to learn to speak German though (and to understand Danish and Norwegian :P).
XD yeah, I know that English is a Germanic language, but I meant that I speak one (right, German! XD) as a mothertonge ;-). But you're I speak two like you do |D.
Well, Danish sounds different from Norwegian and Swedish, but as Swedish is more similar to Norwegian in pronunciation than Danish you should understand it more or less, don't you? Actually I wish I could speak one of the North Germanic languages fluently.
:D All three languages are mutually intelligible but we understand some languages or dialects more than others of course. Swedes generally understand Norwegian better than Danish, yes. :D To understand it better though I really should take a basic course and then immerse myself in the language until I'm able to understand it. :D But yeah, learning one of the northern Germanic languages will certainly help you in learning the others. xD
"... English?! ... Oh. Right. Yeah. That bastard of a language."

Okej.. Nu börjar jag bli lite små rädd här.. Hur kommer det sig att alla dessa jävla Mångkultur nördar är så intresserade av tecknade barnfilmer??
Fan vad fult Danskan lät haha ^^
joonte1010 2 years ago
Eller så är det helt enkelt så att dessa mångkulturella nördar faktiskt uppskattar sång och språk på ett helt annat sätt än vad du gör?

Flytta till Mellanöstern om du tycker att det är så exotiskt med små arab ungar som springer omkring och rånar Svenska barn.
